It's my first time to see Umu this emotional. Ahh I totally get you though. Clockwork is a masterpiece! Taemin described the song as about when someone is broken inside, he or she feels trap in time.

It really hurts my heart to see him not getting enough attention with this particular comeback! I didn't expect this whole album would be filled with so much emotions. I've been waiting for your reaction specifically to Taemin, but I must say it would've been a lot better if sooner. Thanks a lot nd look forward to Adrian
Fun Fact: Waiting For's original title was "There it goes" and the deep voice sounds like it's saying both "Waiting for" and "There it goes" at the same time
One word: ATMOSPHERE. That's what Never Gonna Dance Again: Act 1 is. It's a study in creating and presenting "atmosphere" through sound. And don't worry (for Kevin) about whatever it is that sounds lacking because this is just half of an entire full album. There's still Act 2 coming either in October or November 2020, which will have a much different soundscape than Act 1. What's fun about the entire Act 1 album is it's like a collection of songs used for fashion shows. I've tried watching fashion show recordings on mute with Act 1 playing in the background...PERFECT!
As Kevin said he has a particular preference for old Latin music so Waiting For doesn't do anything for him. As for me, I have a preference for Taemin's voice. Hence, it doesn't matter if another singer is a better vocalist. I'd still choose Taemin.

It's so crazy to me that so people listen to 2 Kids and feel any sense of hope...To me it just feels so painful and impossible. Like trying to walk through a pool made of honey? It's what I put on when I wanna feel the absolute misery of regret and loss. I guess that's what's so cool about music, it feels differently to each person, it rarely if ever hits just the same.
The whole song was pretty hopeful for me but the little mmhm~ part changes the entire mood of the song. He sounds hopeless and nostalgic for something but seems like he came to terms with whatever it was, but is still kinda bitter about it? Idk how to explain it. He sounds resignedly hopeless
Clockwork is a stunning piece of Artistry. I did start to tear up. Reading the lyrics, my heart went into my throat with this song. Reminded me of a past relationship that I wished for, got then wasted.
This new album... is pure artistry. Taemin really outdid himself. I've also come to noticed that Taemin does phrasing so beautifully, even for a fast song like criminal, which I often find missing in many kpop songs. I cannot wait for his next album to drop!!!
I was crying when Umu cried. I totally get what she felt! Kevin is very hard to impress. Anyway, this album is so so good, his albums never disappoint me. My ultimate one and only Ace.

Totally same! When i listen to Clockwork, i can clearly imagine it as a jjong song with his voice. It's totally jonghyun style of song and singing. It's beautiful and ethereal.
His profound reflection inspired by MJ is more distinctive through this album. I love the emotional flow expressed through each arrangement run down in this masterpiece. So satisfying to listen to. And he undoubtedly reaches another status as a soloist.
This video makes me so happy, this album deserves so much more attention, it's literally his best album ever (and easily on of the best kpop releases we've had in a loooong time)!! I hope more people can listen to it 🥺
I love watching reaction videos to Taemin's music, especially from professional dancers and musicians. They are always so awed and impressed, and it's a testament to his absolute talent.

This album literally the best Taemin's album so far for me, some of the songs are so new for Taemin but Taemin can just easily claimed it as if it's not his new attempted for those kind of songs. I have been listening to this album more times than I would like to admit haha. And until now I can't decide which song I like the most! Every song is a masterpiece, and I just can't wait until Taemin performs all of the songs cuz I know he was getting ready for it in his supposed concert last March! Thanks for this review, I get to hear the technical side of this album and made me appreciate it more P.S. usually I get bored when watching song reviews but I finished the whole thing. All 44 minutes of it!
Back then that early morning as the album was being released, I set my self to listening to it, as a guy in my 30s I can say I'm a big fan of Taemin's art, Clockwork made me go to another space, I was so into the melody and voice that I felt like floating, totally sank in deep feelings, I actually cried a lot in a mysterious way because there was no pain and no joy, was something in between, magic I'd say. After de sunrise, I found my life partner lying on the floor as still as never seen, my 16 years old dog had left me and my heart broke like never before. Was a special day for me, not in a happy way but maybe artisticly memorable because one song warned me about that big milestone in my life. Tonight watching this amazing review I cried so much at Clockwork analysis. I miss my dog but I know he is with me here as much as the day we met. Sorry for my english, thank you guys.
No one’s talking about my boy Just Me and You :’( it really gives me the vibes of having a conversation on couches, sipping on something while the orange sunset shines on us. Clockwork, Strangers and Nemo have also been on replay out of all the songs in the album (sorry Criminal and Black Rose, I love you but I think I’ve been streaming too much). I really wished this album can get the attention it deserves, but I won’t get into that since it’s stressful to think about it. Thank you for this reaction, and I’m looking forward to the interview! Edit: btw 2 Kids is a confusing song for me. The instrumental seems bright and hopeful but the visuals, vocals and lyrics aren’t? I get what they’re trying to convey though.
I like clockwork a lot because ya know, I'm a sucker for melodies having a 1-7 scale degree pattern or even just landing on the leading tone (7) . In my opinion, those make a beautiful melody.

I absolutely love many of Taemin's songs but Clockwork is a song that stabs your heart straight. Tears came to my eyes as well when I heard it for the first time and I didn't even know the lyrics. I don't know what spell it has >_
Just Me And You is my favorite. I just fell in love with that song. But let's be honest, the whole album is a masterpiece and choose a single song of all of them it's really hard
I initially liked waiting for the best and really want to see it live cuz who doesn't want Tango Taemin. But upon re-listening, clockwork is my favorite. The bridge is really cathartic and the rest of it is hauntingly beautiful
I'm so glad to see the love for Clockwork! It hit me instantly because songs like that really go into my 'self-therapy' playlist. I'm someone that needs emotional songs when I'm feeling depressed or overwhelmed. I need songs that give me some kind of emotional imagery, a dream, something that just takes me away with the music and helps me to get into my feelings so I can then come out of them. Clockwork is exactly the type of song I look for, to help me do that. I've had it on repeat. And to think it could have been one of my self-therapy songs for the last two years; it was almost included on Move-ing, back in 2017. I hope one day Taemin will tell us why it was put in the vault .
I really enjoyed this album and am always here for Taemin releases, but I do think you can tell which tracks get the extra effort (and possibly the funds). Criminal, Black Rose, and 2 Kids just had a much higher production value and are more atmospheric because of it. I agree with Kevin's opinion on "Waiting For" there was something overly simplistic about the latin rhythm and melody...I've heard too much of that style and would've loved it if it was more unique (especially because I loved the intensity of the syncopation in the chorus)... but I wonder if part of that is being from the US, maybe there's just a diff perspective on whats a "fresh" latin sound if you're producing in Korea haha Thanks for the vid, y'all!
god umu's reaction to clockwork was (and is) ME. Girl, same. listening to that made me want to burst into tears completely spontaneously my head was EMPTY except for that song. the music, the vocals.... more than melancholic... idk. those high notes really get you. but like that emotional space? I Felt That.
Adrian you did amazing in this album and all the other songs you helped with our amazing Taemin!!!!! Thanks guys for featuring him here! It’s beautiful to see POC being involved in co-writing and being in the behind scenes in K-pop! That being my first Taemin album he and the whole team in the production surprised me and involve how different this is from anything I heard. Love the musical choices and how it’s used to fit the story. As a pianist myself I agree & love the chords in Strangers like Kevin
in black rose, i think the little major bit on the lyrics "your lies" is a really good choice. kinda like how lies are meant to make you feel you feel good, but it's only temporary. it just makes me like the song more :-D
i am sooo happy you two did a first listen to this album!!! when it comes to taemin, or shinee in general, my first instinct is to automatically love every single song and not really pick out specific details that make like it (or dislike it) bc im biased as hell lol so watching this kinda helps me hear different things i didn’t catch before and form my own opinion on them... does that make sense? how to explain it hahah

I really have been loving his full albums ever since Move. Honestly I went a little crazy after listening to Criminal because I love it so much. My favorite song of the year so far and I wasn't expecting that at all. Aside from that, Clockwork, Strangers, Black Rose and 2 kids are my favorites.

Clockwork is really my favorite song from this album. It’s amazing!!! I even have it on my Repeat playlist of Spotify. I need to listen to it multiple times before going to the next song
idk how taemin does it but no one - i say *no one* - has his kind of sound. even the ones that ppl say have a similar sound like him, don't have the same mysterious, somewhat dark but chill and fluid aura like taemin's. taemin is his own genre at this point
This is one of my two favorite albums of this year. I can't even pick the best song, they are all high quality, but I don't know why but "Waiting for" and "Clockwork" took my heart. I look forward to ACT 2!😍 It's coming

the fact that 2kids sounds sad and hopefully at the same time just makes it even more heartbreaking and sad. even without the video, it feels like you're lost and wandering through a sad space, so him walking through paris just enhances that. after the first listen i left it for a while because it made me too sad, but now it feels more hopeful, and i can't stop listening to.
I watch Umu and remember when this channel started and how much though years it brought to me and I am soooooo thankful it is still going and with every release these are the videos I look forward the most. It is 1:30wm and I regret not 1 bit I spent 45mins watching this video. This CB was not promoted by SM at all, but Tae put his heart and soul into it and thanks to fandom it is not best sold album. Woo! What a ride this album is, amirite?? I have to admit it's the slower songs that I adore - Strangers, Waiting For, Just You and Me, and Clockwork. Taemin's voice has this magical component of emotion and suggestion that really only Jonghyun* can match. If this is the first album he's had the most input in, my god, what a treat we are in for in the future. I'm calling it now - Album of the Year. * and by Jonghyun, I mean SHINee

I have been listening to this album more times than I would like to admit haha. And until now I can't decide which song I like the most! Every song is a masterpiece, and I just can't wait until Taemin performs all of the songs cuz I know he was getting ready for it in his supposed concert last March! Thanks for this review, I get to hear the technical side of this album and made me appreciate it more
P.S. usually I get bored when watching song reviews but I finished the whole thing. All 44 minutes of it!
Back then that early morning as the album was being released, I set my self to listening to it, as a guy in my 30s I can say I'm a big fan of Taemin's art, Clockwork made me go to another space, I was so into the melody and voice that I felt like floating, totally sank in deep feelings, I actually cried a lot in a mysterious way because there was no pain and no joy, was something in between, magic I'd say. After de sunrise, I found my life partner lying on the floor as still as never seen, my 16 years old dog had left me and my heart broke like never before. Was a special day for me, not in a happy way but maybe artisticly memorable because one song warned me about that big milestone in my life. Tonight watching this amazing review I cried so much at Clockwork analysis. I miss my dog but I know he is with me here as much as the day we met.

No one’s talking about my boy Just Me and You :’( it really gives me the vibes of having a conversation on couches, sipping on something while the orange sunset shines on us. Clockwork, Strangers and Nemo have also been on replay out of all the songs in the album (sorry Criminal and Black Rose, I love you but I think I’ve been streaming too much). I really wished this album can get the attention it deserves, but I won’t get into that since it’s stressful to think about it. Thank you for this reaction, and I’m looking forward to the interview!
Edit: btw 2 Kids is a confusing song for me. The instrumental seems bright and hopeful but the visuals, vocals and lyrics aren’t? I get what they’re trying to convey though.

I like clockwork a lot because ya know, I'm a sucker for melodies having a 1-7 scale degree pattern or even just landing on the leading tone (7) . In my opinion, those make a beautiful melody.

I absolutely love many of Taemin's songs but Clockwork is a song that stabs your heart straight. Tears came to my eyes as well when I heard it for the first time and I didn't even know the lyrics. I don't know what spell it has >_

Just Me And You is my favorite. I just fell in love with that song. But let's be honest, the whole album is a masterpiece and choose a single song of all of them it's really hard
When Taemin sings " your lies" and does that hand move, that's it, no words needed to explain what I felt
I initially liked waiting for the best and really want to see it live cuz who doesn't want Tango Taemin. But upon re-listening, clockwork is my favorite. The bridge is really cathartic and the rest of it is hauntingly beautiful
I'm so glad to see the love for Clockwork! It hit me instantly because songs like that really go into my 'self-therapy' playlist. I'm someone that needs emotional songs when I'm feeling depressed or overwhelmed. I need songs that give me some kind of emotional imagery, a dream, something that just takes me away with the music and helps me to get into my feelings so I can then come out of them. Clockwork is exactly the type of song I look for, to help me do that. I've had it on repeat. And to think it could have been one of my self-therapy songs for the last two years; it was almost included on Move-ing, back in 2017. I hope one day Taemin will tell us why it was put in the vault .
If I had to chose my favorite songs they would be Waiting for and Famous and CLOCKWORK
I really enjoyed this album and am always here for Taemin releases, but I do think you can tell which tracks get the extra effort (and possibly the funds). Criminal, Black Rose, and 2 Kids just had a much higher production value and are more atmospheric because of it. I agree with Kevin's opinion on "Waiting For" there was something overly simplistic about the latin rhythm and melody...I've heard too much of that style and would've loved it if it was more unique (especially because I loved the intensity of the syncopation in the chorus)... but I wonder if part of that is being from the US, maybe there's just a diff perspective on whats a "fresh" latin sound if you're producing in Korea haha

god umu's reaction to clockwork was (and is) ME. Girl, same. listening to that made me want to burst into tears completely spontaneously my head was EMPTY except for that song. the music, the vocals.... more than melancholic... idk. those high notes really get you. but like that emotional space? I Felt That.
Clockwork is my best pick on the album it's just very subtle and so in line with the kind of music that I listen to most of the time...

That being my first Taemin album he and the whole team in the production surprised me and involve how different this is from anything I heard.
Love the musical choices and how it’s used to fit the story.
As a pianist myself I agree & love the chords in Strangers like Kevin
in black rose, i think the little major bit on the lyrics "your lies" is a really good choice. kinda like how lies are meant to make you feel you feel good, but it's only temporary. it just makes me like the song more :-D
i am sooo happy you two did a first listen to this album!!! when it comes to taemin, or shinee in general, my first instinct is to automatically love every single song and not really pick out specific details that make like it (or dislike it) bc im biased as hell lol so watching this kinda helps me hear different things i didn’t catch before and form my own opinion on them... does that make sense? how to explain it hahah

I really have been loving his full albums ever since Move. Honestly I went a little crazy after listening to Criminal because I love it so much. My favorite song of the year so far and I wasn't expecting that at all. Aside from that, Clockwork, Strangers, Black Rose and 2 kids are my favorites.

idk how taemin does it but no one - i say *no one* - has his kind of sound. even the ones that ppl say have a similar sound like him, don't have the same mysterious, somewhat dark but chill and fluid aura like taemin's. taemin is his own genre at this point

“I don’t want this to ever end.” This was my exact reaction when I listened to Clockwork - that song is actually immaculate, nothing can top it.
the fact that 2kids sounds sad and hopefully at the same time just makes it even more heartbreaking and sad. even without the video, it feels like you're lost and wandering through a sad space, so him walking through paris just enhances that. after the first listen i left it for a while because it made me too sad, but now it feels more hopeful, and i can't stop listening to.

I watch Umu and remember when this channel started and how much though years it brought to me and I am soooooo thankful it is still going and with every release these are the videos I look forward the most. It is 1:30wm and I regret not 1 bit I spent 45mins watching this video.

Woo! What a ride this album is, amirite?? I have to admit it's the slower songs that I adore - Strangers, Waiting For, Just You and Me, and Clockwork. Taemin's voice has this magical component of emotion and suggestion that really only Jonghyun* can match. If this is the first album he's had the most input in, my god, what a treat we are in for in the future. I'm calling it now - Album of the Year.

My favorite b-sides on this album would have to be black rose, clockwork, and nemo! All the songs were good but these three got me feeling some type of way.
