My hot take on Taemin: he is MJ's vision fully realized. His looks, his moves, everything. The only reason I won't say he's better is bc there is no Taemin w.o MJ. And I HATE that MJ didn't live to see this happening, he would've been so stricken, so taken by Taemin's performance abilities. Life is truly unfair in that way, bc this is everything he wanted to be, clearly you can see that by his uhh, artistic choices for his face/skin. Taemin is the culmination of what could've been in another lifetime for MJ. On some, when one Supreme rises type of shit. Its like MJ passed to make way for him damn near, the timing is crazy.
Years from now, ppl SHOULD BE talking about Taemin the way ppl talk about MJ. And I don't wanna hear A THING about CB, bc as talented as he is, he's not seeing Taemin artistically. I said what I said!!! CB is guided by cocaine and anime, whereas Taemin is just art personified. His ego hasn't allowed him to just be satisfied w being the best right now, he wants to be the best ever. I feel like one is resting on being better than his current peers whereas the other isnt resting, period. But enough about him!! TAEMIN is currently an artist who can combine it all: dancing, charisma, performing and singing at the highest level at the same time.
1/ Some idols can sing better than TAEMIN but I'm sure they can't reach his dancing level
2/ Some others may have a dancing level close to TAEMIN's level, but they certainly can't sing as well as him

Yeah, I also noticed that male background dancer too when ‘Advise’ had came out! I was like “GOTDAAAMNNN THAT MAN CAN DANCE…. AND HE FINE TOO😗” Lol now whenever I’m watching Advice, I can’t help but to look at him as well. He’s definitely by far one of the best background dancers that I’ve seen in the 14 years of me being into K-pop, that man is clean and you especially get to see how clean his movements are when he’s wearing sweats or lose/baggy fits🔥🔥🔥 I’m not surprised tho, SM be having them dancers lol if it’s not killer vocalists… it’s killer dancers(artists and background dancers)💯

The dancers Taemin picks to join him in his main crew are beyond impeccable and he STILL stands out among them. I think these dancers are truly some of the most insane talents. But you can also tell when he has to travel without them and perform with new dancers - fans pick the difference immediately unfortunately.

So many good reactions to catch up on! And this video made me realise that it's been too long since I watched Taemin's dance practices. I'm also obsessed with the 'Advice' one, and it's unfortunate that Taemin didn't have time to do more than a few music show promotions for that one. Absolutely love the choreo and all the dancers, and Taemin was on fire for that one!

Pretty sure SM training is brutal because it's very Korean as in, you do it until your teacher is satisfied. Even if it means working on something until 6 AM and then their next day starts after lunch. Let's just say Taemin had lots of free time on his dance class days if I remember correctly from the time from his training and post debut days. The public knew about him the most because he was out while everyone was stuck inside training.

Does anybody find it odd how in the west the only reference when it comes to dance for kpop idols is MJ ??
And how because he was the only one showcasing his dance skills/abilitiee as a pop singer ? He was very much a full artist and great performer (even if some k idols does take their inspo from him tho)

That was great. Personally my fave taemin choreo is Famous. Idky but his japanese choreos always hit different, not to mention his japanese dancers too are top notch.

Let me preface this by saying it is a great compliment to compare Taemin to Michael Jackson. But it is also limiting, in that Taemin in my opinion is a more complete dancer than Michael because while he clearly adds MJ elements (as do almost all kpop artists)to his dance, he clearly has his own style which also gets emulated by almost all male kpop idols, especially the generations after him. Which why he is the Idol of idols.
People seem to be ignoring the FACT that Michael Jackson was heavily influenced by James Brown, Jackie Wilson, Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, and the Nicolas Brothers. But especially and specifically James Brown . Again to limit MJ's to the people who influenced him takes away from his spin on what they did and what he added to what they did when creating his own style of dance. The same is true for Taemin to limit him to being influenced by MJ while a great compliment also takes away from that he does, and the style of dance which is specific to him.
