- After 3 years of doing this, I came very close to shutting down my channel. Originally, I stopped doing breakdown videos because they were getting hit for copyright. But, after starting a Patreon, and realizing I didn’t have an audience, I decided to come back to TH-cam and take the risk of making breakdowns. It could result in the channel being shut down, but that’s a risk I am willing to take.
My favourite grappling channel please don’t delete this invaluable information
Thank you, I appreciate that!
Yeah please keep it up as it’s nice to refer back to- very useful
Yes, I will. It was a hard year with the knee recovery and I thought long and hard about it. I am a perfectionist so part of me wanted to start over
your videos have fundamentally changed my grappling, I hope you realize the impact you have.
I am glad to hear that. This has been my only goal from the beginning. To get people wrestling, since so many act like you can’t learn outside of highschool years. Nonsense! I got into judo in my mid 40s. Anything is possible
This is one of the best channels on TH-cam. Even if the channel itself isn’t profitable, it is making people aware of the knowledge and skill you possess.
Your videos helped me a lot in improving the fundamentals of wrestling techniques. I messaged you on Instagram months ago, because of you i learned how to do a proper single leg and i won a championship in my weight category and got bronze on the absolute using it, i managed to take down 5 guys in 6 matches because of what i've learned here.
Unfortunately the instructionals with Jordan are way too expensive when i convert them from dollars to my country's currency (Brazilian real) and i can't support by buying them.
I just want you to know that you have put out some highly appreciated content.
Please don't delete the channel, if you don't feel like making more videos please just leave this here as a library, i do come back from time to time to study.
Really enjoy this channel. Feel like your serving up the secret sauce that makes wrestling so important in grappling. My own Jiu Jitsu game has improved immensely from content like yours and others teaching the fundamentals of wrestling in a submission environment. Thanks.
I am super glad to hear that! Keep the system alive work the crap out of it and you will always be in the right place at the right time
Been using the greco bodylock (and your underhook system as a whole) ever since you taught it and it's been giving so many of my training partners trouble. Thanks for the reminder, I need to go back to checking your Patreon for breakdowns. Looking forward to more breakdown content, wherever you end up posting it!
Awesome man! Call it the “Seras Bodylock.” He really deserves all the credit.
@@josephbreza-grappling9459 Will call it that from now on!
I LOVE the idea of breakdowns because you've shown the technique and the logic of what you're doing. The breakdowns will be helpful because you see how it looks under live resistance and with appropriate timing, chaining, etc. But pure breakdown channels by non wrestlers not as good because so much nuance is lost. Super excited!
Exactly, his comments on why something does or doesn't work is worth alot.
Your wrestling has come along beautifully my friend. I can’t wait for us to finally meet in person and drill some technique
I appreciate all the content you put up, it has helped my wrestling as a BJJ practitioner, and I hope if you ever were to delete your channel you can give your viewers the opportunity to get your videos that you created some other way.
Breakdowns are always fun. Maybe get your viewers to send their clipped matches and you can give smaller breakdowns of things we want to ask why we got taken down or why we couldn't get the takedown? Channels like Earn you gold medal are awesome, maybe something like that?
I am cool with that. Earn your gold is the only breakdown person I like, because he actually wrestled (unlike the majority of them) and has good things to say. He is also a Floridian like me and a good guy
Dude you changed my life with this channel, do not delete anything please
Whatever happens, I'm super grateful for our friendship and for speaking up and cutting through the BS. My grappling brings me joy in the world, so learning from people who give me a road to success have a direct bearing on my life satisfaction
You’re putting in the work and it shows
Honestly please do not ever be discouraged. You easily have some of the best wrestling content on the internet and even though you might not be super popular your name floats around high level grapplers I know, even if you are not mainstream yet. You might not ever get the respect you deserve but you have brought my wrestling to the point where I got nationally ranked in the top 10 as an U18 (in England but still an achievement). You have added so much to the grappling community and I really hope you never take any of your stuff down.
That is fantastic man!! You should document that!! I want more wrestling in the UK. It’s a tragedy that it’s not popular anymore
Yeah I wish wrestling was bigger in England
@@josephbreza-grappling9459 I had to quit because I kept getting skin infections from the only freestyle gym in my area. I train at a catch wrestling gym now and I am looking to do worlds. I should also mention that your wrestling advice carried me to top 16 of 81 at the blue belt IBJJF Europeans. Your content is some of the best I've ever seen.
Your breakdowns are great. You explaining why something did or didn't work is so valuable. Till this day you are the reason alot of my takedowns work.
Thank you, I appreciate that!
Your channel and DPS Breakdown are all i need on youtube for wrestling, as well as Victoria Vortex and other comp clips on IG. Please don’t delete your channel !!
I appreciate that. Just so you know, DPS never wrestled, lol
Earn Your Gold wrestled and is a highschool wrestling coach. You might want to listen to him
By never wrestled did you mean he never competed?
Indeed someone who has competed and has had their abilities tested on the mat, like yourself, is worth listening to as opposed to someone who has never done that.
His comp breakdown videos seem legit though (to me a wrestling rookie)
But i wonder, how could someone who has never wrestled do breakdowns like that? Where did they get the knowledge?
He never formally wrestled. He is a BJJ guy teaching wrestling. In my opinion, what he posts is not an ideal way to learn how to wrestle.
His act is using examples of wild unorthodox wrestling, because it’s exciting. Covering those who used classic fundamentals like the Brands brothers, Metcalf, Boroughs, Kolat, Nick Lee, Spencer Lee, is a classic way to teach people how to win.
Why has nobody else ever wrestled like Satiev? Because it’s unbelievably unique to him. You try to wrestle like him and you are gonna get fucked. So those of us who were successful in our own careers, have coached kids to state championships and earn collegiate wrestling scholarships might actually know something more than a self taught, keyboard wrestler. My stance has always been to teach people how this art works so they can be successful. Highlight reels are not reality.
BJJ guys with no wrestling experience trying to coach wrestling is literally the reason I started this channel. Watch earnyourgold if you want to learn something. Watch DPS if you want entertainment
And yes, of course experience matters. What if I was trying to teach boxing and had no experience? Don’t you think people would have kicked my ass? Nobody wants to learn from a poser. They want to learn from an expert. The proof of being an expert is displaying your expertise in a sanctioned event. He has a BJJ record and lots of good clips of him in BJJ competition. If BJJ translated perfectly into wrestling then I wouldn’t have a following.
Oh he is a bjj guy teaching wrestling??? I thought he has had experience teachinf wrestling & is a wrestler. Thanks for telling me. I never checked out anything other than wrestling comp clips on his channel so i didnt know.
What you said about him that he is a good editor seems true. I susbscribed because he gives narratives with slow-mo in different matches like the NCAA, which is helpful for me to understanding more of what is happening.
Yet, just now i checked out Earn Your Gold and it is awesome 😮 Thanks for recommending that to me!! From now on i would just watch your and his channel abt wrestling.
Yes, BJJ guy, no formal wrestling experience. I looked him up after he came at me online about some shit and after a few minutes of arguing I realized he didn’t sound knowledgeable….just rattled off names of people like someone who is a fan but never a wrestler. He has great footage and is good at editing. He learned about wrestling from watching others online.
I have watched boxing all my life but never formally boxed. Does that make me an expert in boxing? Can I box legitimately? No, any amateur with a few fights would fuck me up. Could I do boxing breakdowns? Sure, but I would end up saying shit that an actual boxer knows is wrong and wouldn’t know and better. That’s my point.
Keep watching him, but just keep in mind that he is purposefully using the freaks of nature to get cool highlights but the chances of you ever wrestling like that is like 0.00000001%. You aren’t going to be Satiev. You aren’t going to be Sudelaev. You better not be like Andonian, putting yourself on your own back to get out of a powerhalf…I posted a video of him doing that shit (on pateron) in the All American round and he pinned himself. He is extremely unorthodox and he is not someone to emulate. He breaks a lot of rules that we have to keep wrestlers in the match. If you know the rules and systems then you can break them, but pretty much nobody who is in BJJ learning to wrestle is good enough to do that, so why are you kidding yourself?
Learn wrestling from wrestlers. Learn judo from judokas. Learn BJJ from Jiujiteiros. This is simple. The vast majority of people online are lying to you. They just want to ride this wrestling fanatics thing and take your $$ in the meantime. Danaher said judo doesn’t work in noGi BJJ. Specifically he said uchi mata is terrible because it has no control. Funny because his guys have been uchi mata’ed tk death and pulled off some of their own uchi matas in competition. And so he sells instructionals teaching that throw. He said the same shit about shooting…oh you will get choked. Then he shows a ton of shots. Then he claims upper body is the way to go. It’s not. It has the highest percentage of reversal of all wrestling moves. When it comes to wrestling, he and a bunch of these dipshits are full of fucking shit. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you will spend your time learning from people who know what they are talking about and actually improve.
The posture thing is so true. In the last UFC FPI march Nolf vs Canuto the commentary (Gordon) was saying that Nolf had to be careful with the head outside shots because he could get choked... And Nolf proceeded to double leg the hell out of Canuto 4 or 5 times
Please don’t delete the channel! I’ve learned so much. I’m catching everyone with the sagging headlock thanks to you!
Hell yeah!! Kesa getame is awesome too!
@@josephbreza-grappling9459 Nice I'm actually trying to work on that for this month any specific resources you could point me to? Outside of your own of course! I'm thinking of looking at either Josh Barnett or Henry Akins.
Long live Breza-grappling,
Seriously though coach.
Your videos were an absolute treasure chest of great stuff and the grappling community appreciates it!
Thank you! I appreciate that
Happy you made that decision, this channel is pure gold and I keep coming back to it every now and then (vid 33 helped me out the most since I get to dogfight really often). Thank you so much for your content 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Please don't quit, you have some of the best wrestling content for BJJ!
Thank you, I appreciate that!
You have an audience here! Love your videos
Please don't delete this channel! I've learned so much from you - yeah sure my guard and passing suck miserably but my wrestling is scary good, all thanks to you! In my recent tournament I faced a Kazakh wrestler and the moment he felt my tie up, he pulled guard. The BJJ world needs you - I look forward to your breakdowns! Would love to see you talk through some classic matches (eg John Smith, Randy Lewis, Cary Kolat) as well as modern D1 matches
Thank you! Yes the plan is to keep it up, I just wanted to share what I had been thinking. I am actually working on a JS breakdown
Historic matches would be very cool. It would differentiate him from someone like DPS Breakdowns or Earn Your Gold Medal.
@ I am working on some right now. I actually choose people who are downright fundamental, because it makes a point. I made a video recently (not uploaded yet) where I show how relying on funk ends badly. I have showboat shit. It costs you titles. Over 34 years of this, I have seen so many talented you wrestlers throw it away by relying on what they call “funk.” Shit doesn’t always answer the problem, and there’s a shelf life on it. I loved when one of my guys would catch them being a showboat and the crows roars. 😆 Shit happens in the finals.
@josephbreza-grappling9459 the reason that Jiu-Jitsu guys like your channel so much is that it's the REALITY CHECK they need.
Jiu-Jitsu coach with no Wrestling background -- a month of feeling like my Wrestling is stagnating and I'm studying Funk Roll videos in bed, taking notes, Ben Askren DVD in shopping cart, thinking that's going to get me to the next level.
So please, by all means, do a teardown video on Funk Rolls. Embrace the hate you're going to get. This is your calling.
Omg man, I was not a fan of that style. It worked for him and that’s all you need to know. I am super athletic and that shit never worked for me.
What people don’t understand though is that Ben has incredible fundamentals and he added to it. The issue is that people think they can bypass the fundamentals and that’s what gets them in trouble
Before we got a wrestling coach at the gym I learned a lot of the fundamentals from your channel it's been great. Still recommend anyone who wants to wrestle to your channel.
Thank you! I appreciate that! Recommend the instructionals, lol
I've learned a ton from this channel and taught much of what you've shown to others. It's made a big difference. So thank you Joseph. I hope you keep the channel going.
Thank you, I appreciate that!
@@josephbreza-grappling9459 I can definitely understand wanting to spend your time doing other stuff though.
Instagram is the worst…I promote my instructional there and assholes always say the dumbest shit on earth. Saying my elbow pass won’t work. Lmao
Just wanted to let you know that your instruction has formed the core of my stand up and has taken me from an embarrassment to at least making the wrestlers work. It's been hugely helpful and I greatly appreciate it.
Me too!
Excellent! Let’s keep it going then!
Hell yeah!
Best content for us in wrestling starved nations. Please keep it up! I love the breakdowns!
Tnx man, you and JFLO are doing the BJJ world a service.
Man his judo technique is slick
For the algorithm!
Thank you, I appreciate that!
Looking forward to the content! I was a Patreon subscriber and I liked what I saw.
If you ever need footage from subscribers I got me competing in various styles. Going to do catch this weekend and sambo next year
That’s cool man!! I did one with Bill who is a loyal subscriber and he works really hard on wrestling. He has improved like crazy
this channel is an archive of good knowledge, please don't delete it if you ever decide to stop posting.
That is the plan. To keep it as a library. If TH-cam ever kills it, I have the instructionals at a minimum
This channel changed my wrestling for good 🙌
Really glad you decided not to delete the channel. Excited to see your judo journey unfold + future breakdowns and thanks for all the technique! Planning to pick up the instructionals in the future once I’m a bit less broke 😂
Thanks for the support. Judo is awesome
Love the channel. It’s helped me a lot. Just keep it up so we can keep coming back to the old stuff for refreshers!
Didn't even know you had a patreon, you should promote it more.
I did. It’s all over the video where I came back. But it’s cool, a lot of people just have them set up as donations. It is linked on my channel too. People are busy man, I get it. I am drowning in work
Dude it’s all in your head , you ARE THE SOUCE FOR WRESTLING IN BJJ . we love you we love your content keep doing what you do .
I appreciate that.
The shit talking people do online is very real. I am grateful that there are people like you who understand my purpose, because there are a bunch of assholes out there.
Nooo don't shut it down. The best grappling channel online
I won’t. I went through a funk. Assholes on instagram who don’t know shit about wrestling were getting to me
@josephbreza-grappling9459 why worry about someone who can't wrestle haha
Yeah they are like mosquitoes though. Hard to ignore them. Lol
Good luck what ever you do. You helped me to understand. Thank you!
Glad to hear that! Thank you!!
Dude no! Your instructionals are awesome. I wish you'd make more. I'll take all the nuance I can get from you!
I appreciate that! For now I want to just keep teaching using the materials I have already published. Really drive home the concepts
@ sure, but I feel like more nuance would also be a good thing. for example, i started using the underhook system and had some success until people started posturing up and going for a “polish,” even though i had inside leg position.
Ko uchi gari them. Lean forward and put all that weight on the ball of your foot. You need to immediately swing that back leg out of the way. One thing that always happens when people are learning new technique, is that they get to the position and pause. This is normal and it happens to me in judo and jiu jitsu all the time. So you have to make these things work immediately. It’s just not easy for me to get a practice dummy to throw around for free.
As it turns out, everything that I do hurts. That is literally what Jordan said when we were making the second instructional. I started showing moves on him, and the first thing he said was “oh man, I forgot how everything that you do hurts.”
@ hahaha yeah. i been doing bodylock uki goshi just to be nice r about it.
Your channel is excellent! I’ve incorporated gems into my game.
please don't delete this. so useful for me and others who dont have access to good instruction
I won’t. I went through a funk. Assholes on instagram who don’t know shit about wrestling were getting to me
@ damn, im sorry people were doing that. i have no idea why people feel free to be such assholes over the internet. you deserve way more support for this great work, genuinely the most thorough wrestling videos i've found online
Because there are no physical repercussions for acting like a tough guy on the internet, lol
No time to waste on pseudo-intellectuals, time is valuable. Even more as we age.
No doubt
Been here since the beginning. Watched every video. Bought both instructionals.
I'll take you going frame-by-frame as Jrod bends his knees for a shot, over 100 techniques demo'd by Cary Kolat.
There is no substitute for live practice. By the same token; breakdown content is just that much more valuable than technique demonstrations.
You are an OG for sure. I think this next phase will be good
CJI breakdowns would be amazing
Sir love and respect from Pakistan....please do not make us hopeless...i feel very lucky from the rest of my teammates that i found your channel...❤❤❤
You are my Vincent van Gogh 😊😊
I appreciate that
go for it! cant wait for the breakdowns!
It would be a true shame if you shut down the channel. I am from Australia, which compared to America and other countries has minimal wrestling gyms and instructors. I developed a passion for wrestling 1 year ago after 4.5 years of BJJ. This channel is my go to channel and the main resource I recommend for all my friends and gym mates who are struggling with technique and basics. As my current coach that I have had for the past year is no longer attending our gym due to distance and travel inconvenience your youtube series will return to being my main source of education and revision of wrestling technique.
You have been a true inspiration and a true help for someone who loves wrestling but due to circumstances has minimal high quality, foundational basics presented with clear logic and reasoning behind every move. Being an academic person myself I feel that your content is aimed and constructed perfectly for a novice like myself to continue to to grow and develop my wrestling skill. I know how frustrating it can be to feel like you have reached to logical conclusion of a project with nothing more to spur you on or generate new content. Just know that you have made a difference and I believe will continue making a difference. Just joined the patreon.
I appreciate your kind words. It’s people like you that I want to help. You are going out of your way to work hard and I love that
@@josephbreza-grappling9459 This is the wrestling grind haha.
Dear Joseph, you have no idea how much you channel and two instructionals with Jordan have improved my wrestling from 0 to somewhat ok, for bjj.
It is all about solid fundamentals, which are simple to learn for absolute beginners like myself in the videos on this channel and the instructionals.
I really hope you will stick around for long, since I love the work you have put out all this time.
Much love from the Netherlands.
Thank you! I sincerely appreciate that and glad that I have helped you.
Fundamentals are absolutely everything. It’s what wins the high level matches. Fatigue makes people a little slower, a little weaker, and more susceptible to change in direction and position
maybe nogi judo content, I always want how d1 wrestler engage to judo n bjj?
I am almost 100% in judo now. I love it. Shit is hard but it shows me my lack of understanding of “jacket wrestling.” No doubt it will help me with BJJ stand up in the Gi. In terms of noGi judo, I think the only legitimate source right now is JFlo. That man is unbelievable at judo and he transitioned it to noGi in a way that nobody else has-not even close
@@josephbreza-grappling9459 If only there was more footage of Jason Morris at Syracuse. It would so cool to get your insight on how he made his Judo work in folkstyle, especially if there was footage of a full match. This was all the way back in the mid-80s though, so all that's available on TH-cam are shorts and highlights
Be wrestled like my friends on my college wrestling team. Both guys were high level judokas and used their feet as hooks on you. It was frustrating and confusing
@@josephbreza-grappling9459 can u breakdown their competition clip or training clip
The channel is very appreciated man. Grappling is just a relatively small niche, seems like you have to get lucky with the algorithm. The channel set you up for the instructionals right? Good stuff all around. I like breakdowns.
It’s about volume. Volume drives the algorithm. It has little to do with quality. People are fed what they enjoy watching and so if you feed the machine more it feeds the crowd. I don’t have the time or motivation to be an influencer. Fortunately Jordan saw and liked what I was teaching. The rest is history.
Not me looking up to channel seeing you wanna delete it 😢
I saw ur teachings on Jordan teaches jiu jitsu and I decided to look u up. Please don't delete it, u can abandoned it but please don't delete it. This is my best wrestling challenge
Any tips on avoiding ACL injuries from stand-up? Or was it just a freak accident.
Freak accident man. I have done that throw a million times in my life. My knee locked out and I was twisting. Recipe for disaster
Don’t delete the channel I reference your videos all the time
I went through a funk and feel that would be a disservice to others, when my original goal was to serve.
Its breza grappling bro not just breza wrestling. Keep up the good content man
LOL! Especially now that I train judo, jiu jitsu, and wrestle/noGi with the guys on Saturday. My body is wrecked but man I am having a lot of fun being back after that stupid injury
Don’t stop the channel
Please don’t shut down the channel! Never!
Bruh - what you mean it’s not worth it?
If 100 dudes showed up at your door every week to learn wrestling, would you say it’s not worth it?
Audience size doesn’t matter; its audience impact.
If those 100 people were paying me it would be different, lmfao
No I get it man and that is why I do it. I truly think only about 80 people, roughly 1% of subscribers actually care. The thing is I have been fighting the dogma since the beginning. So many shit talkers online trying to cancel me saying I don’t understand the difference between wrestling and wrestling in BJJ…stupid comments from people who can’t wrestle at all. It’s frustrating man. When you are putting out content, you get shit from all directions. People say to just ignore it, but I am a person too. I do this for the right reasons and am not a charlatan like so many out there.
@@josephbreza-grappling9459 My dude, if you would not listen to advice from these people, why would you listen to their criticisms? Filter out the noise - any idiot can type on a keyboard. I write content online and get nonsense back, too. It's an unfortunate fact of the internet, lol.
JJ is cultish, too. Maybe they are mad a wrestler is teaching JJ content...? Even though it's WRESTLING for JJ.
But seriously, you have the best wrestling for JJ content I've seen. I've been wrecking dudes in my JJ gym since seeing your channel and instructionals with Jordan.
Keep it up!
That statement is right on brother! Man I appreciate that. You are absolutely correct.
I appreciate your support too. Thank you again and happy holidays
Offer in-person training packages, like a 3 or 5 day options or one week training options charge a few hundred dollars. I'd be there in a heartbeat. Also, a plus if you let me record it and post it as well.
That’s a nice suggestion, but I am not a full time coach. I am a neuroscience professor, a husband, and father. It’s just not feasible for me to have a second business like that, even though I bet the $$ would be nice. Taking a week off to make an instructional with Jordan is already asking a lot. The instructionals do well and I want to use some of that content on the channel with breakdowns to teach people this system.
@@josephbreza-grappling9459 Awesome man, don't get me wrong, I'll take whatever I can get from you, maybe in the future if you ever have a few days you can do a seminar for very specific things. I've seen a few tutorials online, then gone to the seminar (for example for Judo grip fighting) and it was great getting adjustments after seeing it digitally to take to my home gym. I'll keep an eye on your channel though.
Yes, I like oldschool. 99% of wrestling coaches required the seminars to make ends meet. And so they coached all year and then ran camps in the summer. I am definitely down for doing seminars, because they are a day or two of time and it’s worth it. If I were to offer privates, it might get crazy, because I don’t like turning people away. I am very generous with my time, so when I do privates I definitely go longer than what they are paying for. I just don’t like to leave people hanging
Keep going mate, I didn't know you had a patreon :c
Yeah it’s pretty fuckin low level, lol
Please don’t shut this channel down!
I won’t. I went through a funk. Assholes on instagram who don’t know shit about wrestling were getting to me
@ fuck the haters lol. Your content on this channel and from your instructional has been my saving grace as a bjj guy who didn’t wrestle in school. Thanks for everything
That’s awesome man! It gets better too the more you wrestle, because you will pick up things that you didn’t see before
Hi! White belt with no wrestling knowledge here. I saw you a while ago at Jordan's channel, but this is my first time here. This is awesome! I really hope to get something close to decent when it comes to the stand up in jiu jitsu, and this is a great, GREAT help.
Have you, or will you, do videos on wrestling in the gi? Is there a big difference, or does things more or less work the same as in no-gi? I know you can grip the gi, of course, but will most of the wrestling still be effective?
Also, haters will be everywhere. I know I guy who got a few negative comments online after he saved a little girl from drowning. Apperantly he saved her wrong 😂
Welcome to the channel!! Jordan and I filmed two instructionals and people really like them. He might have a 2 for 1 holiday sale or new years sale, so definitely check that out. I don’t have anything to do with sales-just the coach.
You are definitely right about haters. One thing that turned me around was when I read comments from morons online saying Robert Salpolsky (a little genius in neuroscience who pioneered work with neurophysiological mechanisms of stress) was an idiot. Apparently they know more than the guy who literally pioneered the field and is a professor at Stanford. Lol!! So you are right. They will hate no matter what
@josephbreza-grappling9459 Thanks a bunch, and I will check them out right away 😁😁
Hahaha, imagine the misplaced confidence you have in yourself when declaring Sapolsky an idiot 😂
Btw, I tried some of the stuff you teach in regards to controlling someone in turtle in sparring today. Even with my novice white belt understanding of jiu jitsu, I had a lot more control on the white belts I tried it on.
Have a nice day, man. And thank you so much for all the free videos 💪
Wait til you start wrist riding everyone and they learn that turning to guard gets them submitted, lol
Please offer a paid option if you delete the channel! My daughter and her HS wrestling team use your curriculum.
Well there are the instructionals. Of course she can’t use the hammer lock or chicken wing to break someone’s arm, but she will understand how the mechanics work to bend the rules as you keep it legal
Great!
Cji has matches really good for break down!!!🙂🙂
Tackett and Ruotolo matches could be good
@josephbreza-grappling9459 and Nolfs, Rods and Downeys.... right?
Yeah there’s probably good stuff there
Hi, where are your instructionals and system on the channel?
The links to the instructionals are in my bio and also on the front page of my instagram. Same name (Brezagrappling)
The channel is more spread out. I didn’t go in order like I did on the instructional. I was showing techniques based off trends I saw. And then when I made the instructionals, I had time to go in order
please dont delete it
I don’t think I will. I was in a funk and then I came up with the breakdown idea with showing my own footage to supplement it. I will make that post soon
when you say colar tie does not work on straight postures, I would argue against that, look at the ancient muay thai tradition of colar tie and they can not just elbow you but throw you around and body lock you.
I meant that it doesn’t work well to snap people down. I was talking about my the section that I covered on my instructional. I don’t teach muay thai-I teach wrestling. So I don’t care about that crap. It’s not in my curriculum. Ancient shit doesn’t mean better btw. Look at Dan Gable’s NCAA finals match and tell me that wrestling used to be better. Lol! And that was like 50 years ago.
And no a collar tie is not good for an entry to a bodylock. Quite the opposite. It’s literally why we don’t reach for collar ties in Greco. If I am standing upright and you reach for a collar tie, I can get control over your elbow or wrist as you pressure forward and get a bodylock on you.
It’s also easy to get hit with a duck under by reaching for a collar tie in greco. My first greco tournament, I reached for a collar tie and he ducked me and suplexed me. Match was over, because we had the touch fall back in the day. Pinning your elbows to your sides and digging for underhooks, drags, etc are much better options against a skilled opponent who has an upright posture. Snatch singles too if it isn’t greco.
@@josephbreza-grappling9459 thanks for the detailed explanations. when i said ancient, i agree that being ancient does not mean it's great. but in the case of muay thai, it's a fighting sports just like greco and wrestling so it's been proven on the battlefield for a long time. sure the rules are different but i don't know if you even tried to knee spar with a thai fighter, many wrestlers may be surprised at their effectiveness of diggin their elbows into your colar bones and abilities to move you around. now they don't know how to defend a single leg from a wrestler cos that is not allowed in their sport. Is your instructional free on your channel ?
@ I was referring to how BJJ guys are taught to collar tie to snap down to a front headlock. It is good for pushing people around, but if they are standing upright the snapdown to a front headlock doesn’t happen unless they suck.
My instructionals are under Jordan Preisinger. They are on wrestlingforbjj.com
@ the BJJ people who teach this didn’t wrestle, so they are trying to copy what we do in highschool, college, and freestyle, but the stances are different. I think eventually people in BJJ will adopt more of a wrestling stance, but it will require that there’s better wrestling first. Right now people aren’t as threatened by getting blast doubled or power doubled, because the wrestling sucks. But once you’ve gotten powerbombed and got the wind knocked out you then you’ll start protecting your legs with a legitimate stance
@@josephbreza-grappling9459 there is a kind of a split in bjj schools. One is the old school bjj gi or no gi where they start on their knees and don't teach wrestling and there is the modern no gi grappling bjj schools such as B team bjj, or most 10th planet schools where i train, we do takedown and wrestling half the time and start the rounds standing. It's bjj with wrestling integrated. And that is still the exception not the rule.
Breakdown videos would be great
