I've owned mine now about a month and absolutely love everything about it.
DCT transmission break yet. Most do. Start shifting funny and over heating in traffic.
Didn't hear a lot of complaints about this one! Kia is doing something right, well see how long they last on road.
Yeah, especially after driving the Santa Cruz for ~the same price, this was a winner. I'd even have it over a Telluride/Palisade.
As an owner of a new SX Prestige Xline, I have no complaints. In fact i think its 5x better than the last gen V6 SX w/ Tech pack we had.
Pros - it is way faster than the NA v6 (at 6500 ft above sea level, turbo motors for the win!), dct transmission shifts faster with way better response and I wouldnt go back, has stiffer/sportier suspension (last gen was too bloaty), has much nicer interior from steering wheel, to seats to tech, looks way nicer in every angle and every part, steering is way sharper than last gen, overall just a huge upgrade and massive progress for this lineup.
Cons - Small list but Auto Start stop doesnt save your preferred setting (must push off each start up), No hud on USA models, Wood Trim on door should match better to the interior color you get, gloss black exterior pillars get scratches easily but can be polished out.
@@tunanocrust2642 I owned the last gen Sorento as well (2013) and was beyond excited to get out of it when the engine seized. Into a 2020 Optima SE and loving the tech on board and the styling designs over the past 2 design years Kia has taken it to another level.
@@gbfan1234567 how many miles were on it when the engine seized? I'm asking this cuz I see these for sale online all over the place with seized engines at like 100k miles
@@drfeastmf 120k anything over 100k keep it under 6k rpm. 2.4s tend to melt up top.

FYI my friend the 2.0L turbo is in the N version of Veloster, Kona and Elantra. Not the 2.5L turbo. That's in the Sonata N line and Kia G5 GT.
Sweet looking suv. Wish the higher trims came with a rear bench, I hate captains chairs. Also something about the front center air vent design looks really ugly to my eyes. Love the rest of it though

I really like the exterior of this vehicle but what prevents me from buying it if I had the money is the excessive use of gloss black. You would think in a family focused SUV, there would be more matte finishes that are durable and that will last. I own a 2013 Kia Optima and that car looks brand new because of the matte plastics and black leather interior.
came from a 2014 Optima SXL and hated the chrome trimming. The gloss black is far better IMO

I cancelled an MX-5 order to buy a new Sorento! In the end I couldn't justify spending so much on a car that's just a toy like the Miata, but the Sorento is really fun to drive and obviously way more family friendly. Plenty of power, a responsive dual clutch transmission with paddle shifters, and good ride and handling make this thing a ton of fun. And I can haul 6 people comfortably if I need to :)
Damn I miss driving the Sorento.
The Bose sound system has been reported to be pretty mediocre, so it would be great if an improved sound system were available. Although I suppose a Dolby Atmos setup would be asking for too much at this level. Anyway, too bad there's not way to hide or route the USB wire.

Important to know that at this price (MSRP), you can get the Highlander XLE. The Luxury and Platinum trims are up to $10.000 more expensive.
Power: Very Similar (285 to 295hp)
Exterior: Both cars to me look great, maybe if I had to absolutely pick I would probably say the Kia looks a little bit better and sportier
Interior: Obviously the Kia, I don’t even have to explain, bigger screen, better gauges, more tech, pano sunroof, REAR Napa leather seats etc
Reliability: Can’t say as both cars are new and Kia has shown major dependability improvements, however Toyota is always known as the more reliable brand
Better buck for your money: Definitely the Kia
I personally drove more and I think that the Kia drives a little bit better. It’s kinda stiffer towards the fact that it feels like a little steadier on the road, it’s also less noisy in the city but more noisy on the highway. It overall feels like it’s made out of way better material to give you a better driving experience although I’m sure it isn’t. But it does feel like a better built car.
The Highlander is one size above this with a more usable third-row. If you really want to compare, it should be Highlander vs. Telluride. The top trim Highlander also gives you pano roof and an even larger infotainment screen (over 12"). I have driven both and Kia definitely has the better driver assistance technology. Toyota's lane keep, for example, is pretty lackluster and just bounces you around the lane.
Honestly, I might just take the Highlander Limited ($46K) trim with AWD if it comes down to it and the Sorento, which isn't that much more expensive. The Platinum at $50K is a bit steep. At that point, I might as well look at something like the new Acura MDX, which looks pretty amazing. Anyway, the 3.5L V6 in the Highlander is more refined and smoother than Kia's 2.5L turbo 4-cylinder, though it doesn't feel as torquey. That said, the V6 will probably last a lifetime without needing much repair and, more importantly, it is paired with a more capable torque vectoring AWD system in Limited and Platinum trims, which is way better than Hyundai/Kia's on-demand AWD system. Combine with better expected resale value and reliability, yeah... Highlander for me. This Sorento looks promising, but the value just isn't there in this top trim ($43K+). If you can get it in the mid 30K to under 40K range, it's a good value.
How do they put 254 Cupid ft of space in this tiny SUV? It’s the same interior volume as palisade with a smaller and more nimble frame that’s faster because of the high torque turbo

I just bought this slightly used for the life of me a few questions to anyone listening how do you turn on the ventilated seats are there forward sensors while parking maybe mine are disabled like my brain is this a heated steering wheel and are the mirror's auto or do you have to manually fold them in 😂 My 2021 Sportage SX had all that...

For ~$400, all they do is put two LEDs near the driver/passenger legs in the front only. Under the center console shining outward. You can change the color. IMO, use the 7 USB ports and buy a cheap bluetooth controlled LED strip and install it yourself. Then you can control color, brightness and even strobe features for like $20. Wrap it under the front and 2nd row seats for $80. No way I'd recommend their lighting option, its junk.

2 things bad that I wont buy. DCT transmission junk. and the up and down toggle for heat and cold. Need to use a knob to change temps. Honda Ridgeline used the up and down and drove me nuts. Other than that I love the 2023 Sorento. nice layout. But I will not buy What I like on the X is 18 inch rims. I hate 20 inch rims. I like more rubber between the rim and the ground.
Hopefully yours doesn't brick like my wife's, still not a word from dealership or Kia.
Absolutely embarrassing how customers are treated, don't be fooled by the big warranty. Yes it's there, but how they treat you? Mmm.... I'm thinking I'm gonna go type s for my next car. I WAS a Kia fanboy until I've seen how awful the dealership experience is, until I saw how Kia corporate treated actual people that bought a spanky newy. My wife's is a 21 top trim, they don't care.
Might as well drive a base Rio, that's how they treat you.... Absolutely shameful....
Well unfortunately you learned something there. 10 year warranty is used to lure customers.... business 101 but once you sign those papers you doomed lol. This is why I never consider kia or Hyundai as my daily as I prefer other competitors
@@alvinsimba734 Same, I actually like some of Hyundai/Kia cars but I would NEVER buy one personally. I would go with Honda or Toyota if you’re going for a daily commuter. I know people are sick of hearing that but it’s true. I remember when my sister had a Sonata the engine failed twice and had to be replaced under warranty by Hyundai haha.

So we're out 500 for a rental since no warranty work was submitted 🙄🙄, took the car back and 2 days later it bricked again 🤦🤦.
Brought it to another dealership, but I think it's going be the same outcome SMH...
I've been putting them on blast on their Facebook page telling my story. About how they turned me from a fanboy to a never again boy lol.
I understand there's a lot of things that can go wrong, but when they do, the way you react speaks volumes.
