Freya, I'm 36 and just started taking singing lessons after years of being afraid. I'm going in person once a week and supplementing with your channel. Thank you so much! I's interesting that the goal was to sing better, but now with exercises like this it is almost meditative, and grounding, takes away anxiety and makes me experience being human.

Quick question pls. How exactly are we doing this? Am i humming, or blowing into the straw. Ciuld u pls explain exactly what the muscles are doing in the throat as we do the straw warmup? Thanks alot

You have to blow into the straw so air is coming out of the other end

    "The smaller the opening *Chuckle*"
    Me: why is she laughing?
"The harder you are going to have to push."
    Me: oh thats why

Can I use the plastic barrel of a pen for this exercise? I don't have to hold the end of it as it is naturally narrow. 🤔

Another super-helpful video, thank you so much. I love your gentle approach to singing, there's never any strain or pushing, just a beautiful natural sound. Your videos give such a wealth of detail, explained; I know my singing has improved, and my top notes much more accessible.

Just curious as to why you don’t have a German accent?

I think in one of her videos she does say you can remove accents by singing in different languages, which she is an expert at.

She sounds specifically American to me not even British or Australian.

This is definitely an amazing exercise,it makes my voice sounds very crisp but unfortunately this effect doesn't last.If I keep doing this exercise would that effect be permanent ?
