After 45 years building models, I thought I was accomplished.
But I can’t even begin to hold a candle to your beautiful work.
I’m 60, and when I was a boy dad and I would watch TOS, and have “TV dinners”.
He passed a few years ago, but he would have been blown away by your Enterprise. At the finish, she was stunning, and I almost cried.
Thank you for inviting us in to watch your work take shape.
I can only say, brilliant, simply brilliant!

Brought me to tears! Beautiful. Brought back my hopes and dreams as a young child thinking of what Star Trek represented and thought possible. I'm so sad we won't make it in my lifetime.

Never get tired of seeing people build this model…. Boyd really set the bar for the Aztec details for this model … talking directly to Paul Olsen who was the original painter for the aztec details on the motion picture enterprise.! Great Job sir!!! Great 👍🏾 Job!!!!

My god...I'm a 43 year old man, weeping with joy. What a thing of beauty. I cannot imagine the sheer will, determination, and patience required for such a project. I've watched Star Trek in every form and iteration we've been presented with over the years, and the Constitution Class refit will always remain my favorite. It's both a beautiful and functional design, from stem to stern. Fabulous work by both the model maker and the model assembler!

When I watched Star Trek the Motion Picture and saw the Enterprise in the dry dock, the scale of this ship overwhelmed me and you can only imagine what engineering was required to design, propel, and refit such a massive ship.
I had the same emotions watching this build video. Virtually shaking your hand.

As a small boy, I was absolutely in love w/the Enterprise. I used to put pen drawings of her on the fronts of my school note book binders.
And then in 1979, or was it 80?
... The first movie came out.
And I was absolutely flabbergasted to see the new, refit ship. I was simply in awe.
And to this very day, it's my all time favorite version of the beautiful lady we all call, The USS ENTERPRISE 1701.

That was a very nice build log. I saw this kit a few months back. And I decided to start modelling. I just needed to learn. Now I have a small "work shop" with airbrush and tools. And finished a lighted Klingon D7. Training to learn weathering and panel lining on that. Finished a non lighted Tie Interceptor, but panel lining was not great with the glossy clear "future" so called equivalent. I am trying to complete a 1/537 AMT refit Enterprise. But my god, is that a piece of mis aligned styrene pretending to be a star ship. I am however getting better at using different kinds of putty. So far I have tried Perfect Putty and MR. Surfacer 500 today I am going to sand down the MR 500 - Wish me luck I hope it performs well because I like it a lot.
One day I will feel accomplished enough to give this one a go. I can't wait, it is the only model I am truly looking forward to having on display.... Fantastic model. But I have a lot of learning ahead of me....

Fantastic. Well done on exceptional model building and a great job recording the process including the occasional setback.
This brings back many memories for me as a young man back in 1982-83, when I made what I think was the 22 inch model of the refitted Enterprise. Whilst your dedication to the build process is quite frankly phenomenal, I was left somewhat disappointed with the showcase (or to use the correct language, 'the reveal'). Unfortunately from 1982 I don't have any photographic records of my model, but I did play around with some lighting effects after finishing the model in my bedroom. I used my 4.5" refracting telescope counter weight rod to support the model on the telescope tripod, built a star wall with matt black painted cardboard over the window, punched a pin hole star pattern in the cardboard and cut small pieces of fibre optics over the window so that during the day I simply used a torch shining on the model. By masking the stand from the torch light, I could sit back and the ship really looked like it was completely suspended in space. It was an incredible vision. I get goose bumps just writing this. I only wish I had a modern day iPhone to record it as alas, after 40 years the model is no longer with me.

And after only 3 years of experience in modeling??? Really??? Hory Chit!! John, you have accomplished in 3 years what some of us haven't come close to in a lifetime. Congratulations! I love the old 1701 from the 60's, but really..this version is in a class all in its own. 40 years later, and it STILL looks as badass and believable as ever.

What a fantastic build you just did United Federation Of Modellers. You certainly make this look easy when I can only imagine the amount of patience and determination you had to have in order to have such a successful build as you have in this Enterprise Refit model. Way to go and thanks for sharing and inspiring all of us.

This has got to be my favorite build video of this beautiful ship. Love your color pallet, the video log style, the music etc. Top job!
