In May 2006 I was fortunate enought to get one of the last end of the lines Yamaha PSR-295. But I would have probably settled on a PSR-E303 had I not been able to get a PSR-295 and honestly the PSR-E303 still sounds almost as good as the PSR-295. Also the older style midi connectors would have meant that I could have still used it with my current computer with a UX-16 USB interface as unfortunately with the Yamaha keyboards with a built in USB interface like the PSR-295 the drivers are too old to work on newer operating systems as the PSR-295 came out back in the days of Windows XP. The orange backlit display is also easier on the eye than a blue backlit display.
Is there a way to go backwards in the function key? So that one doesn't need to cycle through 40 options to come back some setting you may have just passed by.
No it's really dumb. Best bet is to use the hold down shortcuts on the other buttons to skip closer to the function setting you need and then start tapping the function button from there until you arrive... So stupid I know!
Hi, I‘m just about buying either a „Yamaha PSR-E303“ or a „Casio CTK-4200“ (both second hand - almost for the same price EUR 120). As I found „Gearfacts-videos“ for both keyboards I‘m pretty interested on your opinion. What would you recommend for a 9 year old boy, who might begins playing keyboard/piano in the future... Thanks a lot for your reply!!! It would help a lot!!!
What does Song Melody Voice mean? It's when you holf the voice button, but what does it do. When you hold the function button, it will save the settings so when you turn on the keyboard again, it will load those settings so you don't need to modify them again.
Hi, i got one used that didn't make sound. So I took it to technician and they change the soundcard chip. I took it home and noticed bass notes almost don't make any sound.. even on max volume, low notes are very weak. Is it the normal for thia keyboard or did they put a bad sound chip?
I sounds more like a connection problem rather than a bad sound chip. Also, replacing the main sound chip is extremely difficult, I don't think any technician would really do that. I might be wrong, I guess., but a sound chip would have to be ordered from Yamaha and it would be very hard to install. For now, try a factory reset by turning it on while the top note is held down.
@@gearfacts not really, he did indeed change it, but he said the exact one wasn't easy to find, he Installed a different series number but said the pin out was same specs. Not a connection problem. I was referring the inbuilt speakers. The chip was a BA5417 648 H76.. but the one he put had different last numbers. Maybe not so powerful. I took it back for them to take another look. Thank you for the fast response. My doubt was about its unplugged sound.. if I set the volume wheel half way and timbre to any bass sound.. then play low notes it's almost inaudible. The high notes sound louder though. I just wonder if thats its normal power or whether it was low because the chip wasn't the exact same.
It sounds great I enjoyed it. It does have some good beats in it. I know the e313 and later has a user style number but this one didn,t still seems you can load midi files in the e303. I enjoyed the video. Great lerning tool.
The function button is not thought out, it's a one way scroll thru 32 different settings!! You can directly reach a handful of them by pressing and holding down the split/dual/touch buttons, etc but that's really clunky. I assumed u could just hold Function and press the numpad 0-32 to immediately reach the specific function... that didnt work 😮 Am I the only one who has an issue with that?? Like if I want to find Transpose, or Octave, I have to go tappy tap tap scrolling all the time 🙄
@@gearfacts Thanks for responding. Sadly it doesn't work on this model :( Btw is it normal behaviour for the M.Volume and M.Octave to go back to default settings every time you change the voice? 🤬 Seems frustrating how it could be a great beginner keyboard if only Yamaha could have fixed these issues in firmware updates.
Sir, I want to use ableton 9 lite in windows 10 pc(core I 3/4gb ram/7th generation). I have scarlet focusrite 2i2 sound card. is it possible?plz help me.
Hi, I have this model and now the sound is very low than it used to be. And I constantly hear a mild hissing sound.. any workarounds or suggestions to rectify sound ?
Hello all, I have a problem with my keyboard psr e303, when I turn on sustain, the sustain turn on too in the part of the bass, and I like to use split with a bass very much so, I'd like to know, how to remove this, I mean, remove sustain on the part of split, may you help me?
Sounds like the contacts under the keyboard need cleaning. It's a pretty easy job to do, but it takes time. There are lots of youtube videos on how to do it :)

It's my piano when i was a kid I'd love to play it
Yeah it's a great keyboard for kids, I think. Even through to a fairly serious level of musicianship :)

yes I've heard that our eyes do adjust to the orange color more easily, even if the blue is prettier...
Thanks for the keyboard Glynn
My pleasure :)
Great review
Thank you :)
I've searched for it everywhere in alot of places where can I find it?
Everything startet with this keyboard 12 yeas ago 😍
Pretty good place to start I think :) GF
For me it starts with this in July 2022 at the age of 37 xD
@@yeoldefoxeh254 how has the keyboard been going?

Most kind of you! :)
My Casio was my first but came out in 2010 n. I think maybe 1 up or 1 down. Not sure
Psr e233 or e303 same?
Is there a way to go backwards in the function key? So that one doesn't need to cycle through 40 options to come back some setting you may have just passed by.
On this model, I don't think so. Try entering numbers - sometimes the Function Menu items are numbered and you can leap directly to them.
No it's really dumb. Best bet is to use the hold down shortcuts on the other buttons to skip closer to the function setting you need and then start tapping the function button from there until you arrive... So stupid I know!
Or try holding function and pressing minus (“-“). Works on some other psr-e models.
Can we connect it to mobile via midi cable to run korg from mobile
Anyone send me a brandnew mainboard of this keyboard? It was broken. Cant play anymore.

What price would be acceptable for this?
Not sure, about $75US maybe

is this still a good keyboard in 2021? i was using my cousins one yesterday, i was quite impressed with it
I thin it's acceptably good, yes. It has most of Yamaha's XG sound engine which is an industry-standard.
@@gearfacts where may i buy it?

Would you be able to give an example to what kind of head phones would work with this piano.

I think if you hold function and press "-" it'll go backwards through the list. A lot of other Yamahas do that.

How can I transpose? Please!!!
Keep pressing the function button until you see TRANSPOSE on the screen
Can anyone tell me which voice (and maybe split voice) I should select to get the Van Halen (“Jump”) sound?
Maybe sawtooth wave? Definitely something from the synth sounds section :) #gearfacts
We can connect mic to it
No
how to use TRANSPOSE on this keyboard??
I can't remember sorry, but you can get the manual from the Yamaha website or just google "Yamaha PSR-E303 PDF"
@@gearfacts thx sure
can i use it with synthesia?
Sir pls can you tell me how to save voice in this per e303 keyboard
I don't think it's possible I'm afraid...

Go to touch setting from the function menu and set it to soft. Now go to M.Volume set to max 127
Do you have your mobile phone near it, by any chance? I get hissing from mobile interference

maybe it has usb?
maybe a MIDI-to-USB cable could be plugged into the keyboard's MIDI-out plug?
