    Dude, this IS art.
    You managed to get the perfect balance with the bits and the original model. Wow. Spot on.
    I'd have that in a glass dome on my mantlepiece quite happily.

    This was by far and away my favourite build. This was a huge inspiration for me, especially as I just bought a 3D printer and I hadn't even considered something like this.
    Amazing work, and I can't wait to see what the path that this build started you on turns into.

    I imagine this piece as a long abandoned sentient AI Strung up to the ceiling by various chords and sparking wires in a dark laboratory.
    Greetings the players with a haunting, crusty automaton voice as they enter the room.
    Very well done! You can hear the excitement in your voice! It’s been awhile since we’ve heard that. Keep em coming!

    I generally don't comment on videos, but i feel the need to tell you i absolutely LOVE this model. You have grown as an artist sooo much and i have been extremely happy to watch that transformation. I say Artist in no light way either, this is ART! Stay humble and keep it up! I look forward to seeing what more you bring in your craft!

    Scan the world is awesome!
    You could probably have a lot of fun with Winged Victory - great feather detail (with a resin print) and you can even see the support bars for the actual sculpture in the scan - might go good with the your current theme

    fun fact, those ancient sculptures by the greeks and the romans were actually brightly and garishly painted; coated head to toe so none of the original marble was left exposed. it was an attempt to bring the sculptures to life and to make them bright and vibrant. Its only after centuries of weathering and wear that we arrived at the austere and striking marbles that inspired the painters and sculptors of the renaissance. that said, it only makes those last few steps of wear and tear that you added to the work at the end really bring the sculpture to life, it makes it parallel the classical marbles of our own world.

    It's soooo eerie and creepy. The kind of beast that stalks and kills you without making a sound. The stone eyes and body combined with the terrifying spikes and chains are such a good contrast. It's really a terrifying piece, and minimalism was definitely the way to go. Bravo.

  • @MonkeyJedi99
    @MonkeyJedi99 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I learned about the zoom out or step back when I worked in landscape design.
    When you are pruning a plant, or laying out a flower bed, you really need to step back about ten-twenty steps once in a while to see where you are, and what your next steps ought to be.

  • @dannielsen348
    @dannielsen348 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    One of the reasons that statues from the antique world was minimalist, is that they were heavily painted and most often clothed as well. Others were only meant to be seen from afar.
    Most of the minimalism that we view them with today, stems from the austerity movement that swept Europe with the reformation movements and the later rise of archaeology (or rather antiquarianism) in the 18th century.
    I do like the end result of your work.

    Of course! I would make a very strong argument that everything you've made is art, but perhaps most specifically the Torment build. You clearly have a passionate and creative soul, good sir. Embrace it! You're a joy to listen to when you're this excited.

    I wanted to say that the way you talk towards the end about becoming a creator and 'becoming' an artist is inspiring to say the least. I think we far too often get in the way of ourselves (myself included) where we should just do, and see what happens, learning along the way. There will always be flaws that we see in the silly pieces we do, but who cares? -- Just ourselves.

  • @ModerateHipster

    This thing looks great! I love your paint process. Fun fact about all those Greco-Roman marbles... they were painted in antiquity! White statues would have seemed unfinished to the Roman eye. But the paints they had in those days wore off leaving only faint traces and we've been used to white marbles for centuries. (honestly I think the original paint schemes looked garish, and much prefer the weathered white marble look, so I'm glad you went this way with it!)

    The roman sculptor (well, sculptors, since there were many copies made) may well be unknown, but the artist that made the original piece (which was made in bronze), was a greek artist named Lysippos. I did have to check up the specifics, but I knew I'd seen that work before.

    I get a vibe that this piece had mechanical overlays in a cyborg-like fashion that only recently fell off or was removed. I can almost see a bright bronze and white marble piece that Daedalus would have built, given the available tech. I love it and am excited to see more.
