    I got mine last week, absoutley love it.

    Cool, but just some things to recall:
    1- The gorilla glass screen only has the deluxe version.
    2- It has 520KB of RAM, not 520MB.
    3- It has 128MB of flash and 448KB of ROM
    4- The translucent one doesn't cost more.
    Actually a very good review, just that details

      from their crowdsupply updates page:
      Gorilla Glass, for Everyone
      Over the last month, we have been beta testing Gorilla Glass for the PocketSprite. Originally planned just for the Deluxe Edition, we managed to lock down a great price, so decided to upgrade everyone’s screens to Gorilla Glass - for free.

      128 Mega BIT not Byte.

    • @DEMENTO01
      @DEMENTO01 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didnt realize that, bc its written "128 MBit", that B in caps just confused me, but the rest of (exception the gorilla glass that Marvin R just said) it's wrong so

    Things they need
    1. A larger version
    2. A small headphone jack
    3. 50$, max
    4. It has a USB port I think and with that it should have external hard drive possible, which it doesn't as far as I know
    5. The menu needs to be redone, hard to read

  • @bigemugamer

    It's cute (and I JUST learned of it on your 2023 smallest handheld list, TY btw) but like the Miyoo Mini I wish they would have maximized the size of the screen on this device, the screen could have been bigger.

      I was lucky to have bought a brand new USA SMB 20th Anniversary Collection with Famicom colors back when it firsr came out. ..
      And then I bought another brand new GB Micro set with _4 faceplates from Target for only $15. I wish I had bought a few at that price!

  • @Marvin_R

    the pocketsprite has received a couple of updates to fix some issues, expand some existing functions, and to add an NES emulator.
    it's also capable of running native games(which as a result have access to a bit more power than emulated games)
    however at this point there's only a sample game for developers available.
    I think the latest update changed the behavior of the "reset game" option to reset the game to the intro screen without deleting the save data.

  • @crunchychips8123
    @crunchychips8123 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why is the screen so small on all these things? You could fit four of those screens in the top half of that enclosure.

    iPhones are not the only phones that use Gorilla Glass. Nearly every smart phone made these days use a Gorilla Variant. It is very, scratch resistant, but it will shatter under pressure, because it's still glass, that's the nature of glass.

    Wait.... Working game boy? So where is the Cartridge Slot?

  • @MakoChan3
    @MakoChan3 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I don't think the problem of the high price is because it's a keyring.. I think, the problem here, is that the item is actually unusable for playing.. That's.. Pretty cute, but useless? What's the point of having a console if playing with it is going to drastically hurt your eyes and fingers? Anyway, great review, thanks!

    • @imranmuari2524

    Just seen how small it was... & went wide eye!
    I actually want it! But..... Cost way to much! (For what would be just a novelty to me)
    I'd pay $20 for it, just for the novelty, play it for 20mins. & only dig it up to show people from that point on.

    I have one, too since a week.
    It is so cool. I can re experience my childhood with pokemon on a keychain emulator xD
    That is just awsome. If the deluxe version was not that expensive i would have bought that.
    But anyways, it exceeded my expectations :)
    Tip: If you have trouble with the Sound on gnuboy try the new Beta Software. Worked very good for me. Improved the sound much.

    It's too bad they don't allow you to transfer roms via the USB port.
    When that website dies so will the usefulness of this device.

    • @Marvin_R
      @Marvin_R 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      videogameobsession the website won't die unless your pocketsprite dies.
      in download mode the pocketsprite acts as both an access point and a web server, and the phone or computer you connect to it will load the webpage straight from the pocketsprite's internal storage.
      the website can be "updated" with new features by updating the pocketsprite's firmware(chooser.app).
      updating is also perfectly safe, as it has a copy of the pre-installed firmware in ROM and installs updates in a separate user partition(which can be wiped issuing a key combination)
      adding USB support is not possible, the port is only physically connected to the charging circuit.

    • @videogameobsession
      @videogameobsession 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It just seems kind of backwards to add WiFi, but not a direct connection. Even a MicroSD card would seem to make more sense then a WiFi receiver. Then you could put the entire library if GB, and other supported emulators.

    • @Marvin_R
      @Marvin_R 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      videogameobsession simple reason for that: the SOC(CPU with several other chips integrated into it) has a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth receiver integrated, so supporting Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is "free".
      a USB or memory card controller and memory card slot would've required extra space on the board, extra power, and would cost more.

    • @videogameobsession
      @videogameobsession 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I see. I suppose that makes sense from a manufacting angle.

  • @BakedPrawns
    @BakedPrawns 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don’t like this fake unboxing thing that you’ve been doing recently. Most people prefer to watch the original unboxing with your instant reactions etc. Even if the video was a short unboxing and then a full review at a later time, that would be better than you putting it all back in the box and taking it out again

    • @RetroDodo
      @RetroDodo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I appreciate the comment Kane, I enjoy doing the 'live' unboxings, but people didn't find them informative enough, just me going 'ooh look at this, what does this do?". With this format you get a mix of both etc. But i'll certainly try a couple more live unboxings in the future, just for you buddy.

    • @RayAkuma
      @RayAkuma 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brandon Salt they could've made the connectors for the Cardridge on the outside above the screen. Maybe sending a Cap for protection with^^ would work I guess ^.~

    • @Marvin_R
      @Marvin_R 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      RayAkumaLP you'd need the entire side of the device for a cartridge connector.
      if you're a little creative you might even be able to build the entire device into a classic gameboy cartridge.
