For someone who's favourite Disney film is Treasure Planet even to this day, it baffles me that I never got this game, even when I saw a trailer for it on my PS2 demo disc. Yeah, it was strange how much Disney stuff was being advertised on the PS2 during 2000's, But in all honesty I honestly only discovered Treasure Planet on Disney Channel, way after the movie wasn't at theaters anymore. But over all, part of me was glad that I didn't end up playing too many movie tie-in games, since a lot of them aren't that good. Years later, I try to check the actual good kind of movie tie-in games and played Spider-Man 2, TMNT 2007 movie game and X-Men Origins Wolverine. I also played one TV show adaptation game based off my favourite animated series TMNT 2003 and that was TMNT 2: Battle Nexus which also came with playable arcade TMNT game based off of 1987 Ninja Turtles. I also played a demo from my old NFS Most Wanted copy of 007 which was also a movie tie-in game called Russia with Love, which I also had a good time with, but never got the chance to play the official game. Let's just say I missed out on a lot of games from the PS2 growing up, since when I was a kid, I didn't exactly know about many titles for the system such as Sly Cooper, Jak & Daxter, Gran Turismo, etc. until when I got older and got a PS3 during PS4's first launch and tried out game that I missed out on. Thank god for some of the HD Collections for the PS3.
@@idonthaveanose it quite common to hear it praised nowadays, just like the iron giant it wasn't too loved when it came out but thanks to things like TH-cam it now is, that's very sad since it now it probably never get a sequel since it did so poorly upon release
It still doesn't get the recognition it deserves though. It's gained more of a cult following. The post-renaissance era of Disney is often cited as a 'dark age' and I would contest that. There are some real gems in there.

this game was fire even in spite of the 2000s artificial difficulty jank. Jak and Daxter 1 was one of my favorite games of my childhood and I can beat it in afternoon; Treasure Planet is my favorite movie of all time, so the mechanics in the tie-in PS2 game aping JnD TPL so fathifully is no issue for me. it's so adorable how needlessly psyched Jimbo gets about the beacons. this game runs great emulated too. those green energy objectives were some board-certified bullshit, especially on the solar surfer levels. all in all a great if frustrating generic collect-a-thon that expands Treasure Planet's worldbuilding nicely.
Phrase 1: *“Enough of that you land-lubbing pup!”* In the movie he called jimbo a pup a few times. This was the clearest one. Phrase 2: “Away with you! You (nose wiping) little welp!” *“Out away with yee! Ya nose wiping little welp!* This one was tricky.. definitely the accent is laid on thick here. Phrase 3: “Play that you rascal you.” *”Play that you rapscallion!”* No idea whAt he’s saying. This is the closest i can figure out based on accent and yar-har terminology
Thankfully now that I’m grown up I better understand the scene of Jim’s dad leaving (when I was a child, the scene confused me, not really getting that he’d never come back 😅)
So I finally got to play the PS2 version and even tho I like the PS1 version a lot, I think the PS2 version is better the PS1 version. The only thing I don't like is the ring challenges in the solar surfer levels and the uneven difficulty.

Cx (5th November) The thing is, when I saw the premiere, I legit had a nostalgic flashback of PS2 Demo Disk, that has demos and trailers. And one of those trailers (along with Experiment 626 and Kingdom Hearts) was Treasure Planet! That looked so good and captivating when I first saw it. But I never played it and here we are in 2020, I finally see what it all about. c: By the way, have you by any chance seen BREADSWORD’s video on Treasure Planet? The guy just an amazing job discussing the creation, the techniques that this film used and everything, along with why it’s (unfortunately) failed and why we didn’t get Treasure Planet 2 (Which I didn’t even know that was a thing back then :P ).
Hi! Ah happy birthday! Funny you should mention that - I actually have that demo disc! It's also got Ratchet and Clank, WRC, Stuntman, and videos of Pac-Man World 2 and Sly Cooper on it. I also used to watch that Treasure Planet clip over and over, but it was years before I played the game. I have seen that video too - not too long ago actually. It's a great video. It was recommended to me repeatedly over the last couple of years and I finally decided to watch it. I doubt Treasure Planet 2 would have been all that great anyway. From what I remember it was just gonna be a Television Animation sequel and there are already more than enough of them. 😂 Thanks for watching again, hope you're doing okay.

Yeah, it's ironic as it's not remotely Halloweeny, and yet one of the next games I wanna cover could easily have been a Halloween special. I missed an opportunity here but here we are. 😂
I bought the game new for about 14$ off amazon! 😂 playing it on orginal hardware… And my ps2 memory card said no autosaves. I played the first two levels without saving, clearing all the objectives only to load up the game for it to say “empty” 😅😮now im speedrunning lvl 1 to find 2 missinng dubloons… i have a suspicion i may have yeeted the barrel by accident… 😢 Younger me would’ve loved this game… and hated/loved the solar levels. Also frick u deliahah! Had me running in circles for 20mins 😮 When i reach lvl 3 oh boy platforming… not another solar level… 😅

I love treasure planet that movie is pure gold and this game definitely reminds me of jak and Daxter, mostly the first game
