My family was invited for the first year of Disney after the contemporary opened. I was a small kid but I have a story…. I almost fell from the balcony in the hallway off our room because I had never even been to a hotel and I jumped up not knowing that it was a 7 floor drop into the lobby! My father was holding my baby sister and looking so I ran and jumped up on the rail of the balcony! My father then dropped my sister and GRABBED ME to keep me from falling all the way down!! 🤣 He is 78 and he still talks about this til this day!
Me and my then girlfriend (now my wife) went to Disney in 1988 from England. When we saw this hotel with a train going through it it Blew our minds! OMG ONLY IN AMERICA!!😳

Loving all the historic art. When I was 9 in 1973 my family made its first trip to Disney World. I loved the Contemporary so much, so much so that my Valentine’s Day boxes for elementary school were the Contemporary hotel for two years running. And not the same box. Painstakingly constructing a second Contemporary for the follow up. Thank you for the great videos.

The Contemporary is one of my favorite of all the resorts. We have stayed here a few times and I have ALWAYS loved the artwork and furnishings. That Mary Blair wall is the best. The Polynesian is my 2nd favorite. :) I watched your 'all about me' video a couple days ago, I went to college in the Scranton area....La Plume to be exact. (can you guess the school? lol) I've spent A LOT of time in Scranton as that's where my stepfather is from. I grew up in Allentown but moved to Wi. in the 90's. Thanks for your videos. Disney always does a beautiful job, well thought out design and touches. I would have preferred to have seen this mid-century modern theming in the rooms vs The Incredibles but hey I'm not complaining. I'm grateful that I even get to go at all considering what we've all been through with Covid.
The Contemporary Resort is looking good, thanks for the tour. Also the Jack Skellington Pumpkin Cake Pop looked good but not sure if we could have eaten it with that strong of a pumpkin taste but other one looked really good. Glad you had a nice day
The new lobby makes me sad. It's SO beautiful and perfectly themed for the resort, they really should have continued that into the new rooms instead of what we're getting. Btw, have you seen the new Mary Blair-esque design shirt for the 50th? It made me think of you the second I saw it. Very fancy!

Keep trying for Steakhouse 71. Try looking toward the end of Oct, and maybe add 3 to your party. I noticed they didn't have reservations for 1, but for 3 they did. I just looked again this morning. We were able to get one for Oct 26, the day we arrive.
I’m really thinking about walking over to the Contemporary on Friday if it gets too hectic in the Magic Kingdom. Often if I’m spending an entire day in the park I’ll go over to the Contemporary anyway because there’s a nice quiet area on the 2nd floor I think…dark with sofas everywhere. It’s a good place to go cool off.
