This is only showing the Cold TIG functions of the machine and on 110v. This machine is capable of much more and I’ll dive in soon. I was just really interested in testing out the Cold TIG first.
I had no life except to watch these as soon as they come out… thank you for giving purpose
You may think you’re not the guy to teach but seeing how you set up the machine for this project is more valuable than you know. Can’t wait for the review and set up of the 205 Yes welder.
Love the how-to vids as much as SNU and running vids. Never thought I'd consider getting a Tig welder before your recent build along series. Really has me itching to build a caged buggy/truggy. Looking forward to more on this welder as well as the more budget friendly 205. Which is the route I'll take once I'm ready to dive into another RC rabbit hole. Already have an Ender 3 V2 Neo. If that new $200 A1 was out when I was shopping. I would have purchased it instead.
I’m looking forward to the YWY 205 review
Harley, can you please do another video on your notcher I'm in need of ideas to build my own. Thanks
I want to redo that project with some refinements and make it available easily.
Thanks for helping my decision on a decent welder for my projects.
Order place through your links. ✌️❤️RC
Glad to help, I think you'll have good luck with it!
I love Yeswelder.. have had a 205dS for a few years now and it's been a great welder...
Those are both wicked cool
Josh, another tool I think you'd like is a new 4 axis desktop CNC mill that was recently funded on kickstarter. It's called the Carvera air. I think these would be perfect l for you and Matt for these builds. They seem to be the x1 carbon of desktop CNC's.
I have to get welder machines myself. Great product for the price point and they also have great customer service!
Happy for you Josh.
I'm slowly getting inspired.. Mayne this winter, stuck in the house I might build my first buggy.
A welder and a printer are not cheap items..
Equipment vs New RC 🤷♂️ tough call
It sure makes future upgrades cheaper though! When you can do it yourself, you save!
Awesome video.
I like seeing this kind if stuff.
Welders never used to be cheap.
Glad to see beginners can get into it relatively ch3ap now.
Looks pretty solid, especially for the price point. That spot weld function is rad🤘
Definitely helpful thanks aton👍
Really enjoyed this video, its right up my alley! For just a hobbiest like you call yourself, you do have an array of amazing tools. Love the tungsten sharpener, the beautiful hood and now your yes welder, may have to jumpnon one to try out! Thanks for the awesome video!
Have been looking at this machine for a while now appreciate you doing this video was on the fence about it but now I’m all in !!!
Really like this video and looking forward to see more TIG welding and cage fabrication. Your STL Sunday helped me tremendously get started in 3D design and now I use Solidworks often at work. Thanks Josh!
Iv never tried a "cold"weld. Would be interested to see 3 controlled samples with one being the cold spot weld, a 2nd with silicone bronze filler and a 3rd test using er70s filler. And see how hard it is to break each. I don't see myself buying a machine to cold weld if i have a tig machine, but it looks like something id play with and just see what i could tack together, lol
Josh good viideo im sure Yes will enjoy all of the sales generated by this video. For safetys sake i really hope you have that argon bottle secured on the floor.I love your cats but all it would take is for one of them ( or you) to accidetly knock that tankover and id the valve connector broke off you would have a live missle shooting through your house. I saw a shop teacher do it accidentally and it went through an aluminum roll up door.safety first! good job on your builds.
The bottle is chained to my welding cart. But the cart has my other welder on it (the yellow one) so I just set the new welder on the bench and ran the argon line over. Totally agree that treating bottles with care is important.
cold weld what I researched its that the amps goes to 0 to 110amps on your case on each pulse, instead tig pulse that uses an amp range.
Dude I just ordered my first tig welder last week. I really wanted to be able to weld aluminum so I got a Chinese arccaptain Tig 200p ac/dc. I did aome tig way back in highschool, hopefully I haven't forgot everything 😅 (it also does spot)
Awesome video Josh, thanks for breaking everything down and showing a ball park on where to start. Thanks Josh
Waiting for the 205 review. Got my eye on it since my last cheap welder venture ended in escaped smoke and crushed dreams…
Yeah I'm excited to see how that inexpensive machine will perform!
Impressive little machine! Does the cheaper unit do the "Cold Tig" as well?
No, this is the only one I've seen with the cold tig function.
You going to do a video on the 205
Absolutely!!
Pretty cool welder. What model stick welder does yer dad use? I am lookin for a cheap decent one 🤘y'all have a badass day🤘☕️🤘
I'm still waiting for you to try welding aluminum
With the tubing used on the buggy build, is 3/16 the OD, or ID? Thanks
That is the OD.
@@HarleyDesignsInc Thank you Josh!
I tried chassis build with a cheap $125 lift tig and thus far have failed miserably. Granted I am entirely new to welding. This Cold TIG seems way simpler than Lift Tig. Thoughts on that?
Spot welder. The one with the handheld probes.
Is Mig a good start for the rc hobby?
It’s not a great fit for RC. A TIG is much better suited to our scale. I have a MIG and haven’t used it for an RC in 10 years.
used a yes welder recently and it worked quite well. lol why did i spend so much money lol
What type of electrical system would be best for this type of welding. I have a 100 amp panel.
I’m welding on a normal outlet in my garage. For RC, it doesn’t take anything wild.
A 220 is ideal. For a 110 welder a dedicated 20 amp. Is what's called for. Some are fine on 15 amp. Feed. That same 110v welder on a 30 amp dedicated works its best.
So be careful and make sure if you get a 110v welder you get one that won't trip your circuit.
@@PonkyKong thanks for the info.
Max Amp for small tubing makes me curious if it will do anything bigger at all. I suppose if you only do tiny things it is just fine though.
Cold TIG is specifically for thin metal work, and amperage could go up if on 220. Now if I switch over to regular TIG of course I could do the regular stuff.
@HarleyDesignsInc yeah my thoughts exactly, I forgot you were only on 110 when i posted. You may want to pin you comment or something so others realize it's capable of much more.
You're making it harder to avoid buying one of these. I'm a little worried about the load on my workshop circuit. I've flipped the fault a few times even just using my soldering iron and heat gun at the same time. Also, as space is limited, do you think it's fine to operate in such a small room with limited venting?
I wouldnt recommend using it in a small space Matt, especially if you have the postflow at 5 seconds, Argon gas is designed to eliminate the oxygen around the area it is welding and if it starts filling the room we may find you face first in one of your builds lol. Iv had times where im welding a lot of parts and my lungs start to feel tight. Garage with open door would be more appropriate. Saludos 👋🏻
We wouldnt want to have a SNU video that went... "this week on the scale news update, canadian based hobbiest Scale Builder's Guild while filming his weekly Whats on the Bench episode was found in his tiny un-ventilated R/C room face first on the bench... sources say his welding machine's post flow was set to 5 seconds. And leads me to this weeks question... whats your welding set up like? Please comment below as i love reading your comment and i try to respond to everone" lol
@@caledoncrawlersrc2216 HA! Your concerns are duly noted. And congrats again on the new baby boy!
@@caledoncrawlersrc2216😂❤
I would have spent another 100! And baught the Simder…. It’s a “10 in 1”. MiG, Tig, stick HF start Plasma.
Still cheaper than a UCFab chassis.
The Simder 10-1 is $999 and doesn’t have cold TIG. This is currently $445.
@@HarleyDesignsInc you can get one for 640$ and it says it does spot under the features…
Be honest, how easy do ya reckon someone wit absolutely 💯 no experience be able to complete a buggy cage chassis......asking fa a friend 😊
We had at least 5 guys who never touched a TIG finish a Jimmys in less than 2 months.
@@HarleyDesignsInc dats encouraging, fnx fa replying m8, btw I still cut up my spagbol 😆 🤣
Is vanquish going to become traxxas the leader in rtrs? Kits lives matter, not the simps they are sold for...
Watching the peel was not very satisfying to watch either.. more of a cringe peel.
Cold Tig is interesting... Had to watch!
