    This is very educative, I have the same VW Passat and after deciding to do
    Some changes my mechanics are still fixing the car for the past 4 months. It’s a long story, I will just say my mechanic is not fit for his job because he did a whole bunch of errors in my car system by glueing the water heater hole and even choked it will a bolt it’s terrible, you just gave me the biggest lecture of my Life. I will send pictures of his works currently so you can see for yourself. After watching your video. I can say boldly that I will fix my car from over heating problems.

    I am fixing my son’s 2003, he rear ended a pickup which broke radiator support, fan, fender, hood. I got parts from LKQ and also replaced water pump and front timing belt while the entire front end was off. When I got all of the radiator and support back otI filled it with water and found the flange was leaking. I had the same problem you have, but I luckily have a garage rented to a gentleman that worked at an Audi dealer for a few years. These things have what’s called a service position in the front, you can remove the bumper cover and take some of the bolts off of the bumper shocks and slide the front out 4-5 inches to access the front. This also allows access to the front motor mount, which you can loosen with the engine supported by jack, then lower the front a couple of inches and have a helluva lot more room to access water flange. Look at the directions for water pump replacement for the exact bolts to remove to get the front into service position

    My coolant hose connector just broke 😭 so I’ll be using this video to replace it, these stupid little crammmed motors are a pain to work on towards the back of the firewall 😂, most of the cheap plastic cooling parts aren’t made to last long 😅 so as a 17 year this is gonna be a great project 👍

      I need to fix the overheating issue and get this out of my shop for the next one. Patients and Got the other new seals today. Going to make more of these kind of videos. These projects take time but it is a learning experience and also saving money big time. Peace Bro.

    The 2 10mm bots that go to the flange that hold the coolant inlet hose don’t seem to want to tighten. Any ideas? It’s a new flange

      I had the same problem because the new ) ring was not positioned correctly. I tightened the lower one to the point of pulling the brass insert out of the flange creating more of a problem. I have since taken that whole area apart and c clamped the brass insert back in with a small c clamp. New seal and cleaned up everything. Ready to reinstall. The 10mm bolts don't need to be tightened heavy. The seal needs to be in place correctly. I will let you know when I put it back together again. The rest of the flange is correct and this has been a difficult job.

    That settup is the worst ever. Why couldn't they just have rubber hose and clamps. And most rhe replacement don't come with more than one rubber o ring. Nice video though.

      I agree with you. The deal is though. I needed to fix this so I could sell the car and I Did. Happy Person bought it and never heard from him again. Now I can work on the Hondas and one toyota I have. Thanks for watching.

      But my daughter wanted a Passat back then. Now she has a Honda Accord. LOL!!
