Although I mentioned Helena's short ribs, that's more of a pipikaula style. Nevertheless, they are both my favorites. Have a Merry Christmas everyone! 🎅🎄
@@FoodFiend I had pipikaula from Helena’s twice and I was impressed how they hang the meat in full view. It was super tasty. Another year has passed quickly! All the best to you in 2025.
Hey Misty, after I first heard they were shutting down, I almost fell down! So happy they will be around for another year, but so true what you said about never taking a place for granted… I need to go back soon! Happy holidays!!
@@tealorturquoise Aloha Kari. Yes it was delicious and you can't beat the views while driving. Although it's a long drive the scenery makes it more enjoyable. Have a Merry Christmas! 🎄🎅
Pulehu ribs look so ono. Haven't had in a long time. Make sure you have a lot of napkins. Heck, just give your spouse or significant other a greasy kiss. Thank you sista. Bless you Misty and your family. Merry Christmas. The peanut butter rolls I thought was biscuits and gravy. Lol.
Oh they are so ono! LOL about giving your spouse a greasy kiss. You're not the only one who thought it was gravy and biscuits! You and your Ohana have a wonderful Christmas Mark!
Well, you coincidentally actually answered a recent question for me! A friend and I were discussing where to get good prime rib, and we talked about Ray's Cafe. Then I mentioned how I went to this food truck on the North Shore called Gordo's, and wondered if he was still open. Guess not. Anyway, when you first showed the PB rolls at :18, I thought it was some sort of chicken or turkey, or maybe mashed potatoes with poultry gravy! Happy to hear they have at least 1 more year!
It seems Ray's is the only place to get prime rib for take out. Too bad that truck is gone. I thought it tasted good and was reasonably priced for what you got.
Aloha Misty, that peanut butter roll looked delicious, I wish we had that out here where I live (but then again, maybe not because I'd want to eat that everyday, LOL!) Merry Christmas to you and Aiden!
Hi Misty 👋 I wish we could get ribs cut across the bone like them here. I did see in our free Woolworths Christmas issue magazine there is beef asado-cut ribs. Further research about this cut , they are not available at every Woolworths supermarkets. Grrrr and right now they are out of stock. Yep , not cheap. Wow , that peanut butter roll was not what I was expecting. That is next level ! Merry Christmas 🎄 Rod and Gemma 🤙
Hi Rod! I didn't know it wasn't available much in Australia. What a bummer. Obviously it is popular since it is sold out. Do you have an Asian market near you? Maybe they will carry it since it's kind of like a Korean/Asian style cut of meat. You and Gemma would love the peanut butter rolls! Have a Merry Christmas guys! 🎄🎅
That's good to hear Papa Ole's renewed their lease for another year. Those Pulehu Ribs definitely hit broke da mout status when everything is streamlining in the kitchen.
Last week I commented on a video that Papa Ole's has the best pulehu ribs on the island. Then I got a reply that they were closing on Dec 23 & my heart dropped. I checked their Insta which said they were staying open for one more year & I called to confirm. That was a rollercoaster of emotions I went thru. 😃 I think the thickness of the ribs make it the best. Other places are all half the size in thickness. I actually wish I could find better anywhere else just so I don't have to drive over an hour from Waipahu to get the best pulehu ribs on Oahu.
You're right! It was like a roller coaster of emotions. 🤣 I'm so glad things worked out. I agree that the thick cut is what makes it stand out compared to everyone else's. I wish they were closer too. Like maybe in Central Oahu so it's an equal drive for everyone. One can dream...
Hey Misty! Glad to hear they're gonna be open another year. Never been to Papaole's but always heard good stuff about the pulehu ribs 😊 Bro, those peanut butter rolls look delish! I had panipopo only once from a food truck in Kaneohe awhile back and was sold on it! Anyhoots, thanks for driving all the way to Hauula and giving us the good news! Have a blessed Christmas and take good care sis! Big hugs! ❤🤙❤️
Hi Linda! Yes if you ever have time, definitely go try them. If you like panipopo, then you'll fall in love with these peanut butter rolls! Have a Merry Christmas and eat plenty food, sis! 💗😊🎅🎄
I have always heard about them. That is a large piece of yummy goodness. Thank you for sharing. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas. Blessings 💖💖🙏🙏🎄🎄❄️❄️🎁🎁🙏🙏🎄🎄💖
Hi Misty! Crack me up....”Don’t come on a first date...wrangle it.” I bet it got so good flavor. Peanut butter rolls so soft and tender bread...ono, ono. It’s so different kind of sweet roll.
Whoa! I miss their Peach Cobbler but they no longer make it because their mother is too I’ll to make them anymore sadly. I wish they were closer in Kaneohe or Leeward side.
Aloha Misty: I hope you, and the family, are having a great holiday week. You drive to the North Shore of Oahu was a nice one and the ribs look really delicious. It reminds me that I have to visit during the end-of-the-year months to enjoy the warm weather and great food of home. I have not been to the Hauula area in a long time and your vlog reminds me to visit the other areas of Oahu - i stayed in town too many times. You are doing a great job in vlogging the joys of dining at our hometown. Keep-up the great vlogs. I am looking forward to the next vlog. Best wishes to you, Aiden and ohana. Much 🤙 and 🧧, fellow 🐯! Soon it will be lunar new year (1/29/25); therefore, I wish all of you a great year ahead. 😀
Aloha Bill! I am having a great weekend, although I usually am at work. It is nice to take a drive up the windward and north shore side every once in a while. If you do come down to visit definitely go up that side and Kahuku as lots has changed. Lots of good food trucks and little stalls to discover. Thank you for always watching and leaving thoughtful comments. I hope you and your Ohana have a wonderful Christmas and New Years Day with plenty of food and good company! 🎅🎄🤙
Says a lot about the food when you use your hands to grab the meat , those are nice size pieces of short ribs . My favorite cut of beef, grill marks look good too.❤ mahalo
I don't like looking for a place to drive to and set up my camera and deal with the wind and flies. I also used to film in my house in the beginning and someone complained the background was too boring. You can't please everyone - and Im definitely not one to go out of my way to do so. I don't film for scenery. I film to get the details about the food across to the people and then I'm done. Because I got lots of other things to do outside of the TH-cam world.. So Im sorry if you don't like the car, but a lot of food vloggers film from their car. If you're into background scenery, there's lots of other local foodie youtubers that you can watch that do that stuff. 🤙
