    Thanks for doing this particular show. I'm noticing that super markets have good hot and cold food to go that is good and cheaper than most fast food places. And they don't ask for tips or have a tip jar. LOL

    Nice review Misty. I went a few Sundays ago around 1:30. I really wanted to try the wagyu steak but they were out. Folks have said you need to go real early for that. I got a whole teri-chicken pizza and a spicy ahi bowl. Pizza was pretty good - reminded me of old school Pizza Hut teri-chicken pizza. Crust was kinda hard though, probably because it was sitting in the warming area. The poke bowl was excellent. Generous portion of fresh ahi and the tobiko was really fresh and popping.

    • @FoodFiend
      @FoodFiend  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Awesome Mark! I went on Monday and the man was still making skewers for people so maybe on a weekday you have more of a chance to grab some sticks. Glad to hear the pizza was good. Maybe the take home pizza crust would be more soft. Not a bad deal for a whole pizza for the family. The poke bowls and sushi are the best though! 😋🤤

    Aloha Misty: Thank you for the vlog of the offerings of Times Waimalu! I was at the Times Lilia last time, but I only saw a limited selection of their “hot” offerings. Looks like things have changed for the better since Don Quijote took ownership of Times Supermarket. Prices for the “hot” offerings were good for the ready-to-eat items. That pork-platter looked like it would have made a great dinner for two persons, and must have been delicious - would have paired well with some sake, which is available at the liquor section of the market. 😀. I hope Aiden got to enjoy some of the delicious pork with rice. I am looking forward to the next vlog of deliciousness. Best wishes to you, friends and ohana. Much 🧧and 🤙🏼, to my fellow 🐯!

      Aloha Bill! I think they are slowly starting to renovate each Times for these awesome grab and go dishes. I would hope so. They did Times Aiea first. Hopefully each one will have these so it is more convenient for people who live near a Times. Aiden had the rest of the tonkatsu for dinner. I only sampled 2 pieces. Times is really stepping up their selection of grab-&-go food.
    U-Choice In makes the manapua for the Dim Sum kiosk at the Kamehameha Shopping Center location, and it's my favorite.

    I think the soba noodles might've been over cooked, should have a nice firm chew. That type of Japanese soba uses buckwheat (hence the little dark flecks in the noodle) and the higher the buckwheat content the more aromatic and flavorful they become (also more expensive but das how for anything quality wise 🤷‍♀️).A less is more thing here and the really simple accompaniments and light yummy sauce lets those subtleties shine through. Cold noodles with a salty sauce is perfect for hot days👌. I just made ice cold dipping somen today with menma, grape tomato, and green onion. Hit da spot 😮‍💨. That's great they had Japanese type pizzas on offer too, a nice twist from the usual things. I wanna try 👀🤤!

    • @FoodFiend
      @FoodFiend  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah probably overcooked. I've had somen noodles from 7-11 that sat in the fridge for however long and it was not like that. Your cold noodle dish sounds amazing! lots of green onion makes it tasty. 😋

    I finally got to try the wagyukushi skewers. I got the plate which comes with about 1/3 head of romaine lettuce (a little strange), rice, mac salad, and a sweet shoyu sauce. I had to wait about 10 minutes while the skewers were still being cooked. The meat was really good - tender and tasty with enough fat content (not overly fatty) and it seemed to be seasoned with a little salt. Interesting how it's prepared as cutout perfect squares of thin steak pierced on the sticks. Rice was nice and fluffy and the mac salad was just okay. And yes, I did actually eat the leafy parts of the romaine. Gotta have some veggies, lol. Overall, very filling and reasonably priced.
