Max Payne 3 has multiplayer too, please try it, its so addictive
@@Tom-zw9jrservers have closed for both console versions. Wonder if the results are any better for the PC release.
0:30 _"looking backwards has been far more appealing than trying to look ahead"_
Truer words have never been spoken, about the only new games I play these days are indies. Everything else is either old games I've played a hundred times or old games I missed out on.
Same here. Trepang2 and Prodeus have been amazing
Yes, I too find myself replaying the old classics or remasters more than anything else. IMO, c1993 to c2013 was the golden age of PC gaming. There's been some good games since then of course; Dark Souls series being a prime example even though I'm mostly into fps, but it just seemed to be all downhill from about 2010 on. I don't think I need to elucidate on the cancerous hell of the current mainstream/AAA industry with all its DLC, microtransactions, lazy programming, overt leftist woke garbage, and so on. It's crap. Basically the only new games I play these days are indies, and I honestly don't feel like I'm missing much of anything worthwhile. I'd much rather replay Deus Ex for the Nth time, or go back and try some obscure 1990s gem like Killing Time or Realms of the Haunting that I overlooked back in the day.
Thank god for companies like Night Dive remastering the classics (hell I'm _still_ playing Fresh Supply and ROTT: Ludicrous Edition, and I can confirm the new Dark Forces remaster is also top notch!). It's great to see the Indie scene flourishing and the popularity of the "boomer shooter" nowadays. Stuff like Dusk, Hrot, Zortch, etc are awesome and prove both that the old ways are not dead and that there's still a huge demographic who doesn't want Call of Duty 27, or the latest AAA sequel where the protagonist is suddenly a black female lesbian or something (and I had such hopes for the new Alan Wake). Sigh...
I love how that the way you pronounce “Isaac” rhymes with “ballsack”. That’s so on brand.

Don't get why you would pronounce Isaac as "e-sack" tho.

I'm shock how good Dead Space looks with the FPS mod.
I honestly never thought of Dead Space or Max Payne 3 in first person, but this is actually awesome. And it looks sorta natural too.
The first thing I think of when I hear first person mod I think of max Payne tbh, it's also a known and popular mod
Should of just been in max payne 3 off the bat the third person camera is fine it would just be fun to have probably a limitation because of consoles or something at the time though
The first person mod for Weird West makes me pretty excited for Wolfeye Studios' next game, which is rumored to be a first person sci-fi RPG, kind of like the sequel to Prey 2017 that we never got.
I would prefer the sequel to Prey 2006
Honestly think Weird West deserves more popularity for how fun it is. Wish their next game is more successful financially now that Arkane studio is gone
Waiting for the sequel to Prey 2006 that we never got.
Prey 2017 was cheeks. Aggressively mid at best. Prey '06 was the good one.
I will be contrarian here and say that Prey (2017) is one of my favourite games of all time and I'd love to see a sequel.
Gman knew what he was doing with that Saints Row footage lmao
I don’t get it…
Can't wait for his retrospective on the series. Hopefully, he'll get around to Dead Rising, too.
How is your comment from two days ago if this video went up 14 hours ago
@@Nightmareof94 Gman has a Pateron. I personally don't belong to it because I'm poor. But early video access is a common thing.
Seeing Dead Space in first person reminds me of Extraction a little bit. It looks amazing 😃
Wish they would port that to VR.
@@LightsJusticeZhell, wished they're actually remade that one in it's entirety in the Remake as a DLC of sorts, since one of the characters would later become protag of DS2 Severed DLC
Seeing the game in first person honestly gives me Doom 3 vibes since a lot of the horror elements, jump scares and atmosphere are all reminiscent to that game. The main difference being it's from a 3rd person perspective with a slightly slower pace and just the fact that you're playing a much weaker toned down version of the slayer.
@@whitelichmage7004 I forgot about that game. I think that's a better comparison.
@@whitelichmage7004 now that you mention it, doom 3 also looks better than dead space, in certain aspects
Love how the Dead Space animations sometimes make first person look like those fake early 2000s CGi game trailers. (I'm looking at you, Killzone 2)
Honestly, if Capcom don’t add some kind of first person mode in RE4R itself, it’s gonna be the most missed opportunity since making RE3R better
They already released a VR version of it, so it's entirely possible.
Just use the mod that’s already out I don’t understand why you need to wait for Capcom.
@@JPDD2 not everyone belongs to the PC Master Race sadly. So it is always good for an official release so more can enjoy it.
Reminds me of the VR mod being early than he official VR mode@@JPDD2
First we had F3AR, now we have RE4R. I love acronyms. 😄
I can't believe how well the visuals of the 2008 Dead Space holds up today.
Dead Soace was in fact originally supposed to be an FPS, because it was supposed to be System Shock 3 and then a spiritual successor to it. Until RE4 came out and changed everything.
Yeah, I think I wrote the same thing under the video demonstration of the mod when it came out.
"About all you stand to lose here is your time, which as we all know is completely worthless."
Ah Gman knows us so well 😂
It's fascinating how a simple change like a first person view can make a game so much more immersive. Like you said, that more restricted view for horror games just makes it that... more horrifying. Great video Gman! :)
Hell yeah! Mod corner is back
Just 100% -ed the absolutely amazing Dead Space remake. If that game was in First Person, I think I would've been in the same boat as you. With how gorgeous the revamp is, it'd be utterly terrifying.
These all look awesome; it's amazing how much a shift in perspective can completely change how a game feels.
There is a first person dead space out there already
I love this guy as a TH-cam-r. The videos are consistently very entertaining and have a good flow of information without ever seeming boring or overly statistical. The kind of vibe that you'd want to have a beer with the guy while he fills you in on all the new cool shiat he found that week. Keep it up gman.
Never had any problems running Dead space, even went so far to as to force some graphics to get a bit of a better picture
The bit about Weird West; Reminded me of stumbling on an unofficial compatibility patch for Battlezone 2...which turned out to be created by the lead programmer of the game. Some devs are such good lads.
Dead Space (2008) on EA/Origin and Steam is broken. Get the GOG copy and it plays flawlessly with all the issues fixed. FPS mod works just fine with it too. The reason I rebuy GOG versions of my Steam games, besides being DRM-free and actually _owning_ them, is usually because GOG versions will have newer patches and modern fixes to games completely left deprecated on counter storefronts.
A small but important detail in Dead Space is the targeting light beams on guns, and how they “trace” over the geometry ahead to help orient you during combat to what you’re aiming at. It’s one of my favorite features in any game, and sadly, I think it would be irrelevant in a First-Person perspective. Not entirely, as it would essentially be built-in laser sights on your guns.
09:21 Guile's theme really does go with everything! 💪😅
Playing Andromeda in first person is really good. That is because the engine it use (frost bite) was built for battlefield.
I hadnt thought about that.. But I got it on PC specifically for the mods and I definitely wanna try FPS
Can you tell me the mod name by any chance please ?
@@arinamiruna3621 Idk if it's the same one but there's a first person mod on Nexus Mods
Its not a mod but Evil Within 2 had an unlockable first person mode that made it play like a different game since you can no longer corner peak enemies to ambush them and watch them while sneaking without leaving cover etc. It was pretty neat.
It’s in the first game too if you play the PC version
Mods keep games alive! Look at Doom 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Trilogy, Unreal Tournament, and of course, Elder Scrolls and Fallout games.
Games that don't include mod development kits, unless they're something super special, just come and go.
Don't forget the Half-Life series, especially Half-Life 2, a game that will turn 20 this year, and a mod for which won the mod of the year award in 2022 and was praised for being nothing less than the sequel we never got. Mods can not only help keep a game alive, they can expand it in ways the developers never imagined. The modders literally do the devs' work for free and don't expect a damn thing, and if AAA studios were smart, they'd release modding kits at launch and incorporate their work into the official versions. Hell, imagine how much help modders can be when it comes to just bugs, issues that take months to fix will be worked out in weeks. This is a golden goose that only Valve has partially explored, but money and greed make these studios blind to something that needs to be free to work, but which will lead to gigantic profits down the road through sheer replayability, the increased popularity of the game, and mod projects that can themselves be expanded into full-on games in the franchises.
Thanks for these videos. I've never been much into modding. But replaying Max Payne, Vice City, Manhunt and Dead Space in first person is a real blast. Looking forward to part 3.
I'm genuinely surprised nobody has thought up of a Dead Space VR yet, I bet it would work really well.
It would prob have to be done with the OG version for optimization but heck yeah I’d love that!
The first and third person mode as either choices is what every game should do.
Play the game in the first round as it was intended, and then offer the mode and other cool stuff at mutators.
I absolutely adore 3rd person perspective in shooters and games in general BUT I think these mods are fantastic and a great way to go back and replay these games. Great video!
0:27 thanks for the reminder dude
I've been waiting for the max payne 3 first person mod video since you made a tweet about it ~3 years ago and it's finally here :)
The iron sights mod for Fallout 3 is mandatory.
RH was revolutionary, and now we have an updated iron sight mod too thats amazing.
Tales of the Two Wasteland is a god send more tbh
@@remdaug1876
>Be a TTW fan
>See post related to fallout that has nothing to do with TTW

Im so glad the new vegas devs added ironsights properly
It used to be mandatory for me but I'd rather just use Tale of Two Wastelands instead anytime I wanna play FO3

I had no idea Dead Space was considered a challenge to get working.
I played it for the first time a few years ago in Linux and didn’t have any issues.
I even installed a mod that fixed the mouse aiming and it played just fine.
Guess I was just lucky that I didn’t have any issues.
Was watching some of your older vids (Fairly new sub) and now I saw you made a new one :)
Since I got a Q3, I haven't played anything that's not on VR, with the exception of Switch games with my daughter. Obviously native games are far more polished, but there's some good VR games that were ported/modded from FPS.
I don't know why I bring this up. I guess, in my mind, modding from 3rd to 1st person shooter is like step 1, then modding to VR is next. Obviously, there are other complications in VR porting, namely controls, but I really hope VR can continue to get the kind of attention as other AAA titles.
6:30 for Max Payne 3 I remember Rockstar putting out a documentary on the game and how they designed it to be a 3rd person game that plays like first person shooter, it's mechanics was way ahead of its time.
Amazing Video GmanLives.
I just grabbed the MP3 first person mod a month ago. So fucking good
fuck yeah, lets go, more fps in third person gaming
That bit about horror games and first person seem to ring true given that even Signalis, a top down horror title, has a first person mod.
7:23 Always loved that feature with R6Vegas 1&2.
It's really cool to see you talking about the first person mod for Dead Space because outside of Helios Max I haven't seen anyone talk about it and having people talk about Dead Space just in general is exciting enough for me. I really enjoyed the mod but I hope it can be improved overtime with updates as I did experience some issues mainly with the clipping being really extreme. There was an especially fucky moment during the grab sequences where the camera would go straight up Isaac's ass for some reason; however, those might just be isolated cases as I haven't seen other people complain about it.
Still you can't really complain when it's a first person mod made for a third person shooter obviously there's going to be some issues. Outside of that though, the mod was pretty seamless and definitely made me jump at times despite knowing the game like the back of my hand. Kinda makes me wish for a first person mod for the remake.
Well... I playtested this mod a lot and I'm a good friend to Reverse Engineering Gamer haha. Also still waiting for him to see the video and comment on it
Hey Gman! Love your vids! Been watching since you made your first! Much love!
First person Dead Space is awesome, it reminds me of Doom 3, which makes me curious about a 3rd person Doom 3
That weird West first person mod looks phenomenal
Fantastic video and I really liked the point with modern gaming you have made.
GmanLive's voice over audio quality gets me nostalgic for circa 2010 IGN video game reviews.
That statement from 0:26 to 0:34 is why most of my games are indie, double AA games or triple games that came out years ago.
Great video! I will definitely have to take another look at weird west mods.😊
ngl the resident evil is look awesome , thanks for the info , gonna try that later
Man I wish the Dead Space remake got this kind of mod since I'm just about to do a NG+ playthrough.
I don't think you're much of a Souls guy but the First person mode for Elden Ring (I think the same guy made one for DS3), was pretty cool. It makes me hope that someday FROM returns to the King's Field/Shadow Tower formula because it does feel pretty cool to explore various dungeons like that. There's just something about the perspective shift that makes it feel more dangerous.
literally havent bought Weird West because I wasnt too insterested in the view point but everything else seemed amazing. I have now bought it. Thanks
You know, I think that you could do a whole thing on VR First Person. You're a fun reviewer, so listening to you go through games in VR 1st Person would be awesome.
Awesome. The Max Payne 3 fps mod is pretty sweet with vorpx on pc in a vr hmd. And RE 4 Remake VR for psvr 2 is possibly the best video game I have ever played.
You had me at first person Dead Space.
Oh hey, Dead Space 1! I HIGHLY recommend playing it with headphones.
The weird west One Is Amazing, i never went back playing It in isometric view since i installed it
You make such amazing Videos. I love the WWE Edits in between xD Much love :3
They really do give a different perspective.
I've played Dead Space to the point that self imposed iron man mode with no med kit usage allowed is pretty much my standard playthrough It becomes a game of balancing run speed, your health bar and the 5 health upgrades that refill your health. Makes any mistake/lost pip of health count. But it also mean I know the game inside out.
So the idea of going back through the Ishimura but in first person is indeed appealing.
Awesome video game play through keep up the good work 💯😎
Red Faction Armageddon also has a first person mod.
Wow the saint row fpsod is a must. I never heard of it till now
14:00.
This is why I love your reviews.
You know EXACTLY what makes gamers tick.
you know I just recently tried using mods to play first person max Payne in gmod and this video comes out a day after. fascinating timing.
There's a dedicated FP mod for OG Max Payne
GMAN I love your content thank you so much for the hours of entertainment!
The Max Payne kung Fu mod is still one of the best action experiences I ever had
It's a shame MP3 didn't get proper mod support cause I would've loved to play the Kung Fu mod for that game too 😔
Ngl, first person Dead Space looks sick!
RE4R VR really does wonders for the horror aspect of the game, played through the standard game enough times on all difficulties to unlock everything and being able to do the same in VR makes it feel like a whole new game
Man First Person Dead Space I couldn't
Hell yeah Gman, let em know.
Great list. Weird West is also on sale for dirt cheap right now (hopefully that'll incentivize ppl to snag it).
Makes me appreciate Bethesda games how with a press of a button you can pop between your choice of 1st and 3rd person right out of the box
Hmm, from seeing this, I'm considering doing my first playthrough of Dead Space with the fps mod.
I've been playing some VR mods of older games recently and I'd love to see a vid on that. Half Life 2 and Doom 3 in VR are excellent.
I will never forget modding RE2 Remake to be in first person, it works so damn well and freshened up my second playthrough.
Good video brother
11:20 So funny thing about the head removal is that is exactly what Capcom did to give the player the first person perspective for the VR mode of Remake, they removed his head during gameplay but make it visable for action command animations where perspective turns to third person
What a time to be alive.
There is a First Person Dead Space (not made by Visceral Games and more like a on rail shooter, but still good)
It's Dead Space Extraction
Wish there would be more mods the other Way around from 1st Person to 3rd.
I got to try DS 1st person, it looks great. Now VR would be the next great thing for DS 1st person
That dead space one looks great
Weird West is so underrated. I hope the devs are doing well enough to make another immersive sim type
The max Payne mod reminds me so much of hardcore Henry the movie it’s so good
It's like the third time I see Weird West recommended by GmanLives. I'd be buying it soon enough.
Keep the games coming. Mods too!
There is a game called Singnalis that has a first person mod you could probably check out, its an isometric horror like the old Resident Evil games. I have seen people play it an it looks pretty damn good.
First person Dead Space reminds me HEAVILY of Doom 3
bruh the mission in resident evil 4 searching keycards bust be scary af when the mosnter cahsing you
These mods for each of these games are incredible. Just to give us different gaming experiences. I mean someone took their time to make a RE4 Remake First Person mod.
Cool game review GManLives
It wouldn't make much sense but Gears of war would be pretty sick in first person.
Petiton for you to check out Total Chaos for Doom 2.
I absolutely love this.
I hope you do Nightmare Reaper. I am aware of your preview on it, but how about a full review since it is out for a while. I would love to hear your opinions on it.
Now you should do more VR mods for first person games
Ghost Recon Wildlands in first person is almost like a new game, and it's crazy how much new detail becomes obvious. Ubisoft really created amazing world (and a game) with this one.
Never knew I needed Weird West in a FPP in my life.
