Thanks Megan! I was just thinking about you guys! I did a split on April 7th. One colony is thriving, the other seems to be growing. I am going to check for super cells today and see where the new one is at. I was thinking about another split and maybe picking up a queen at HVBS. Great Nuc tutorial!

The lid to your spring nuc box is screwed down for transport. You will need a Phillips head screwdriver to open it.

    Hi Megan,
I'm picking up my nucs this week. How large should my entrance be? I know with the packages your other video mentions using the entrance reducer.
    Thanks

We are pickiing up two colonies tonight. Can we keep them plugged overnight until around 9 am tomorrow? We have a long drive to get them to their final destination and we would prefer to do that early tomorrow morning if possible.

We would NOT advise leaving the plug in overnight. The bees begin to panic and can overheat and die. If you've ever watched commercial beekeepers transport hives on tractors trailers for pollination the hive entrances are always open and that's the reason why. Thanks for asking.

So keep the frames in the same order from nuc? I was plannjng on putting a few frames full of honey in. Should i not do that and keep empty frames in there then?

When you installing the nuc if it looks like they need honey I'd put a frame of honey on the outside of the original five frames. If the nuc has enough honey I'd just add drawn comb.

HI thank you - how early the next day should you transfer the slides?

I think I’d wait until midday when the foragers will be busy.

Any suggestions as the temperatures are going to get colder again the end of this week?

They will be okay as long as they have honey stores or sugar water. Check their stores when installing them.
