This felt like a great way to transition into the Halloween season, which is my favorite time of year. Hope you enjoy playing as Raven from the Titans herself!
i think i would have gone full aberrant mind. plenty of the important warlock spells could be acquired via the psionic spells, and the abilities just fit so well. but your version is also great
Yeah if I was just going for purely abilities, I probably would have gone a little heavier in that direction, but I like to try and really fit with the theme and story of the character, so there's no way I could avoid a bit of warlock as well.
@@dndbuildsThis is super late but if we're talking thematics and mechanics there're some versions where she's drawing power from Azarath mainly so we could go up to 3 levels in Celestial warlock and the rest in Abernant Mind to get Astral Projection and keep with the theme of her dad being an otherworldly being that she might draw power from but her powers are still hers
Thanks! I always try to make sure it's true to character more than anything else (when possible) Btw based on your name and prof pic, I recommend you check out my Goku build too 😁
So, this build is really solid, but it's got two things I need to pick at: Pact of the Tome would be more fitting than Talisman for the fact that it has Rituals, something which Raven is known for and capable of doing. The lack of ritual magic is definitely a big hole in this build. Second thing is Clairvoyance would've been perfect for the Soul Self, cause it's often used to scout things out (also, the Soul Self is an all purpose tool so you already got it done with Eldritch Blast and other spells). Besides these two things, I think you did great
I didn't even consider the idea of rituals, but I think maybe another alternative so that way you don't lose out too much with this current build while still getting rituals, is to give up one of the dexterity boost, and take the ritualist feat. This would give you access to another spell list and you could probably dive into the wizard rituals, becoming even more versatile
Thanks I really appreciate that, I'm just trying to have fun with it but it seems like people are enjoying it and I'm so happy to hear when people like it as much as you do
Really love your videos and this is an awesome character build. An idea for a character build would be Sauron or Death/Grim Reaper. Think they would cool :)
Yeah I could see going the route, and I was tempted, but the other thing that swayed me, is that I knew I was going to have more than enough cantrips, so any minor doubt I had subsided (even if there is some other benefits to pact of the time). I'm super happy you like the build!!!!
This was a great video for Halloween and very interesting, I loved it. I tried to guess some stuff ahead of time, and I'm glad my guess about Shadow Sorcerer wasn't too far off the mark. I understand the mechanics of the game a bit better this video than before, although this video I have a ton of lore questions! I don't understand the lore of multi classing. First, I'm kind of confused how you multiclass into the Sorcerer in the first place. If it is an inmate power, why wouldn't you always have it at level 1, no matter the class? I understand realistically It is because it would be broken if any class could declare a Schrodinger situation and say that they might become a sorcerer that might have an ancient bloodline, so they might have great power locked away, so they might be able to get a boost, but lore wise, how you can switch into the class is beyond me. In this specific case, the implication of how your Sorcerous Origin and Warlock Patron can be the same thing in game are equally confusing. That's on top of the fact that Raven never entered a pact with Trigon. Can potential Warlock Patrons force a pact?
The logistics of entering a pact are always kind of vague, so you can really just do whatever you want that's fun and interesting for the theme of your character and your build. The way I look at multi-classing into sorcerer, is that you really awaken that inner part of yourself, and develop some self-confidence to unlock your inner abilities. Because being a sorcerer is all about having those innate abilities but really taking control of them and mastering them. So once Raven has completely broken away from her father, that's where I see it really coming into effect.
Nice build! Gotta love Raven. Would you ever consider doing a build of Claire/Teresa from Claymore? She's a badass and I just know you could build a tonne of the flavour in.
I'm ashamed to say that I haven't actually watched that one yet, but a lot of extra time on my hands lately so I might be able to pull it off and give it a watch
@@dndbuilds the anime is fairly short and deviates substantially from the manga by the end but its still 1000% a great watch. Think the anime GUTS, but the OC is a demon-tainted, sword witch, a contract killer for a shadowy organisation that hunts down monsters. She's basically Geralt of Rivia on crack.
Raven does take her powers from her demon dad, but i think she could just go all way up with sorcerer, that's Is the only way to have her soul self ability
can we get a full party video for the Squad in Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash? I believed youll have fun making an archer who sucks at archery who multiclasses into a monk
I feel like I'm one of the only other people that absolutely loved that show, so I'm actually really excited that somebody requested it, I can definitely think about doing that in the future
@Xalvador also make sure to message me on Patreon to let me know which person you are on there, it might be a while before I'd be able to do Grimgar, but I'd be happy to share some insights on it behind the scenes to let you know what I would make for it, in the meantime :D
Ok. A nice thing for Halloween. Tulock got a writeup with Jason and Michael. He doesn't have one for Freddy Kruger, Leatherface, Ghostface , or Jigsaw yet. (But honestly do you want to play a cancer ridden trap mechanic?)
Super late, but I roll character stats, and they generally end up decently high. What Feat alternatives would be good for Raven? I've seen a couple in the comments already, but I'm curious what else would work.
@@omnivice14 eldritch adept, Shadow touched, magic initiate, metamagic adept are all good but you could always get resilient for another saving throw or tough for some more hp

And it also looks like the thumbnail is of the titans tv show version, and that is so cool bcuz titans tv raven was epic

Since Abyssal Tiefling has made an appearance recently, as UA, I think it kinda fits for Raven as well!
Very clever and well done. I've always loved Raven and I feel you did her justice on this one.

Fallen asimar would fit even better
I definitely considered it, I just wanted to go a bit more demonic, and having constant ability to fly was definitely helpful.

Great build! And it's about time you used Divine Soul Sorcerer! That's EXACTLY what I was thinking right from the beginning.
Great video. Like how you make the build pair with the character. Still love to see a Witchblade build
That would just be such a risky build as far as TH-cam policies, but I might be able to see what I can do

Sorcerer is more her style.
Shouldn't emotional intelligence be Wisdom? And shouldn' Raven e a sorcereress since she was born magic?
