What excites me the most it’ll be the fact we might be able to see collabs especially previous collabs they have done like Sanrio, Barbie and such! So having Nikki dressed as kuromi will be fun! Or maybe more ambitious collabs like Sailor moon and Madoka or Precure!!
Straight cis man here saying that this game looks like a load of i appreciate its devotion to sweet wholesome vibes. I'm not sure if I'll be playing it myself, or begging my wife to play it so i can watch.
This is not the first Nikki game; there's an entire series. I think the others are mobile-only though. Hopefully that means they'll get the optimisation right with this one..
when i first heard of this game i was like "fashion RPG? i dunno. i like fashion games, i like RPGs, but together..?" but after this preview i'm just sitting here like 🥺🥺🥺 I really gotta keep an eye on this one!
There is absolutely a place for fantasy RPGs where the heroes' skills and traits aren't measured by their ability to do violence. This game mightn't appeal to me particularly, but its very existence still feels like a net positive regardless.
I've been playing Love Nikki on mobile since 2019, and i remember how overwhelming getting started is. Looking at this game though? 😍💕💗💖 I'm definitely going to have to try it once it's released!
Honestly hadn't ever heard of this series but it looks so pretty and acquiring materials from creatures in such an adorable cuddly way is giving me the squeeee! I'll definitely be trying this, thanks for reviewing it 💖
If girly pop style didn't trigger my dysphoria I would be ALLLLLL over it. 😢 I love cute outfits. 💜💜💜💜💜 This game is definitely going on my wishlist for the future!
i heard a lot of male gamers too are also into this, it makes me happy how time changes and more open to this kind of games THIS IS THE DISNEY PRINCESS KIND OD GAME WE DESERVE
Beautiful, and 100% a category of games that needs more attention. Not my style of play, but I could see myself chilling to a let's play of it. With full sincerity, I hope it can survive the rush of internet trolls that like to stampede inclusive ideas trying to present themselves in a greater light.
Sometimes I feel not to choose violence but a peaceful game and this game fits perfectly. The graphics looks so good and the outfits are damn beautiful. Where we have gacha games like Genshin or WuWa, I'd like to see the implementation of gacha elements and how it affects the gameplay overtime. This game brings something new on the table and I'm in, hope it releases soon on mobile.
As a cishet man who views his favorite FROM Soft games as basically "Barbie for guys", this looks way more intriguing to me than many of the other "girlie" games out there, since it seems to be less focused on weaponized tedium (I'm looking at you, Sims bladder management, or any game that has you farming crops) and more on exploration and putting together cool combination of outfit pieces, which I enjoy immensely. Also the movement abilities seem satisfying, and I am a sucker for those. Now, if there were armor pieces added to the wardrobe, or a 90s alternative or heavy metal themed fashion clan, there would be no doubt I'd pick this up. As it stands, I think I'll wait for Zoë's final review.
That's so interesting about FromSoft, I also love dressing up in Elden Ring - the armour pieces are absolutely stunning and unique. I'll definitely be coming out with some kind of review ! Tysm for watching. Zoe
Based on Nikki previous game, there will be heavy metal theme fashion (not clan). Nikki fashion range from traditional Asian clothing, armors, army, idol, rock, magical girls, and many more.
It’s not about you. Watch the video. You’re welcome to play, but it’s not about you and we don’t care if you don’t like the sims. There are plenty of games out there for grown men, this is for us. Please don’t sexualise it or trash it on metacritic if you don’t like something that isn’t tailored for you.
@@jaybee4288 sounds like you had a bad day (it is election day in the US, so I wouldn't blame you), but also that you didn't read my comment very closely, as I totally agree with you. I don't know how anything I said sounded like I was sexualizing anything in the game. I happen to like dressing up characters in games, whatever the gender of the character. Combine that with exploring and cool movement, and that sounds like a fun game to me. I hope you and lots of girls, theys and boys enjoy the game. Cheers!
I just wish it wasn’t gatcha I hate how my brain thinks about such things. Also looking forward to trying it with controller support as I’m not used to WASD movement.
For what it's worth, I didn't really notice the gacha element and I played for days and days! Could become a bigger part later on in the game but 🤷🏼♀️ thanks for watching 💕 Zoe
Sadly, based on Nikki previous game, there will be gacha. But you can still play it for free, there will be a choice to craft the dress or gacha another set of dress. I played Shining Nikki for 3 years and I only spent around less than $50 (I only paid when there is certain set of clothing that I want). The key to play Nikki isn't to get every lovely clothes (you will go broke faster than lightning) but to spend your time to play and craft the clothing.
As someone who have played (and still playing) 4 games of Nikki franchise, let me tell you that... Nikki game will recalibrate your way of thinking. Nikki's game story is kind of bizarre, with everything centered at styling and dressing clothes, but you will learn to accept the quirk and plunge into the story. My advice is don't rush to get every lovely clothes available on your face. Most of them will be in gacha, but some of them would be able to be crafted. Just enjoy and relax, don't rush (though the banner events will definitely make you feel rushed). You can play it for free and you can pay to get some clothes that you want (but don't overdo it, the amount of lovely clothes in Nikki is MASSIVE). I can't wait to play this game when it comes out!
I am waiting so so so patiently for a release date. I am so excited. I can't wait to collect and wear all the outfits 💙✨️ you're so spot on with bringing elden ring and the like into the wider discussion. Fashion Souls/borne/ring is so real. Games that let you dress up, customize, they ARE euphoric. I was just thinking about it the other night. Running around in cute outfits in a cute world, what more could I ask for? It's just like when I played stellar blade. Along with loving the combat system and the story/world, I got to be a bad ass cutie and wear a bunch of different outfits! It's awesome 🌬🌌✨️
Honestly people who are about glamour in FFXIV will likely find this appealing. I think there are people regardless of their gender identity that will enjoy this game. It's also just something different from the usual high budget AAA like experience.
Cishet male and I absolutely cannot wait to pick this up, it looks adorable! I just hope the gatcha part of it isn't too obtrusive (I haven't played any of the other games like Honkai or Genshin, so this will be my first foray into the genre), and apparently there will be controller support on PC for the full release (which is great news). Thanks for the heads up Zoe, I probably wouldn't have heard about this game without your video
Haha as a woman I have never seen girlie as a bad connotation let alone anything like bimbo. I think most girl gamers play any games, and not focus or look for girlie games at all. Although girl gamers are still the minority unless you count super casual gamers, which I would consider most Nikki games to be. I do enjoy games with great girl leads like Stellar Blade or Nier, but I would never have had much interest in a game like Nikki until now. And it entirely because the graphics are amazing and that its no longer just mobile. I am in the current play test and loving it! Hoping it comes out soon, but I wouldn’t be looking for a bunch of “girlie” games to come out as there isn’t much of an audience unless men play as well, which I do think many will play this. Real gamers who happen to be girls would not just play only these games. They love and want the same things in games that men do, but will sprinkle in some games like these. I know supposedly women complained about games like Stellar Blade for instance, yet every girl I know played it and LOVED it . I have played it through 2x now, 100% it and plan to play again once I finish Wukong and Metaphor. Point is, can’t pigeon hole girls into boxes when it comes to gaming and then target that imaginary demographic. If anything, more so than girls, this targets LGBTQ.

Adding Monster Hunter to the From Soft games in this context. There's a reason we call it Fashion Hunter
