I’m glad to see someone talking about this. I looked it up just to see if anybody has recently lol. It’s my game of the year easy and I feel like it got brushed over pretty quick by the gamer crowd. It’s been a peeve of mine for a while but when it came out people were talking down on it because the campaign was “only 10-12 hours” but those hours are jammed with nonstop magic, adventure and visual candy. No padding or played out drama, just a fun as hell game.
My thoughts exactly! It’s just such a joy to play. I easily have 70 hours in from doing the postgame quests, replaying the main story, or just trying to grind some quests for the rewards to level up weapons.
@@joshukethehokage8333 shoulda easily been nominated for best soundtrack. That said i'd still give that to rebirth because they went so ham on that. Relink an easy 2nd for me. I think it shoulda taken most of metaphor's nominations as well imho.

@Cognitive-Clips its an enjoyable game. Played to the 3rd chapter on my first sit down. The combat is fun enough, and I haven't learned the system yet. The art style and voice acting are charming. I know the end game will be much more challenging, but I have to say, its just the right mix of fun and challenge at the start so far. Glad I grabbed it.

Ever since I saw Granblue, I wanted an rpg where you fly around on the ship going on adventures. Relink surpassed expectations and is the first game in a while, that I actively wanted to play. There are a few nit picks, but the overall experience was spectacular. It's a shame that it wasn't recognized for anything during the game awards.
Despite being burried by Yakuza 8, and Rebirth and not really getting the time to shine like it deserved(def think no cross play hurt that some and no xbox port) I'm still very happy it sold and was recieved as well as it was. As a long time gbf fan it was amazing to see this be real finally and i hope they take another swing at it soon.
My only and biggest issue with relink is that it's basically an instanced story in a much grander adventure and you'll just be a big ? dragged along unless you've played the gacha game that started it all. It's basically a gameplay-first game with random characters.

Story is extremely short and basically has no story at all. Honestly you're literally just playing a mobile game. For people who like to grind endlessly you'll love this game. Ain't no way I would spend $60 on this. Maybe 15. It's literally a game for people who like to grind endlessly and continue to build their characters endlessly. That's really the truth
I mean you can say that to a sub par Monster Hunter clone. As someone who played this, Rising and still playing the original this game is one where it was put too long in the oven. Especially when the gameplay ended up the way it is after them wasting time and money having contracted Platinum to make a build only for the Relink team to throw it away. Story for one ends up feeling like it doesn't amount to anything or will lead to something significant compared to the actual main story or events in original. Gameplay feels lackluster and without depth only having to relying on sigils end game to actually grind or clear the content of it. I'm not saying I hate the game but I do feel very disappoInted that it ended up the way it did after years waiting for it to come out. At this point if you or anyone wanted to invest more into the series and know about the world, lore and characters of the game further you're better off playing the original since evrrything about it along with the characters you can see easily in the main story or the side stories right off the bat without the need to grind anything out. Plus you can play on your PC browser without the need of using your phone in the first place.
not really sure how you can say that when the mobage is just as reliant on stats from grinding sphere grids and weaponskills, not to mention the gacha element. i love rising and the mobage but characters like io play nothing like vane which plays nothing like siegfried or zeta. The sigil system isnt great but if they tweak a few things a sequel would be perfect. and ik people play things for the story but the story was short and sweet and didnt overstay its welcome, which i appreciate when the devs know where most of the fun lies.
