GOAT Indiana Jones game incoming on December 9th, 2024💯
And Robocop like Ian said, one of my highlights last year I've barely played Terminator but the menu gives me the same vibes Can't wait what these devs do next
So glad to see someone mention the punching sounds. I was really worried they wouldn’t get that right. I’m so glad they did. His revolver has a certain sound too that I hope they got right.
This is looking more promising to me than it did from the stuff shown up until now. I love the improvised weapons all over the place & hope there really is a broad variety of those with varying effectiveness for damage, stunning, distractions, etc. Pity about the puzzles but that's not surprising these days; everything seems to have been done before.
Watched another vid earlier who says the stealth and the extensive amount of ways to take people down means it never gets boring, sounds very promising tbh
I think the 1st person, while jarring could work. Condemned Criminal Origins was a 1st person brawler with good melee mechanics and also had sparse firearm use as well as basic puzzle solving. When you found a gun it only ever had 5 to 10 shots so you had to make them count. Then it was back to ripping out power conduits and bashing baddies over the head.
Still waiting for a fate of Atlantis remaster but still very excited to play a new and what looks to a fantastic Indy game. Fond memories playing Indy games as a kid
It’s not fair to critique this game for its familiar puzzles in my opinion: Most main adventure games like uncharted and tomb raider would have been inspired by the Indiana Jones movies and their puzzles.
The combination of the use of the whip and fisticuffs really feels like a blend of what many of the developers at MachineGames accomplished with the Chronicles Of Riddick games and The Darkness while they were at Starbreeze. And yeah, I love how you can grab so many objects in the environment to improvise with. Getting pretty excited about this.
Thanks for the early review! I like the physical aspect of the maps in the game, which reminded me of Far Cry 2. The game looks really nice and detailed. One thing I couldn't not notice is the stuttering when panning the camera. Anyone else? I'll be playing it on Series X and hope this won't be an issue as it really ruins it for me (I wish it didn't).
I thought I saw that a couple times. Maybe it's another programming touch, like Indy's head is nodding up and down? I'd prefer that over an actual glitch.
@@Pointman11111 I'm not sure but I don't think so. The thing about Far Cry 2 was that not only were the maps physical but the simulation continued running while you were consulting it.
I wish this had a third person camera toggle option. First person hand to hand combat never appeals to me even if the sound effects are movie accurate.
Hopefully they have a FoV slider to make it more comfortable. The narrow default on consoles is the main problem I think; makes it feel very claustrophobic.
3:34 For sweet Pete, Ian! It isn't about the Shnaffle! The British Museum wants Cureators, now! (Unless you can shnaffle some things from countries that won't miss them for a century or so.)
bastet is my favourite god, god of fertility (obviously) and battles, not war but battles. over 300,000 mummified cats have been found, once upon a time (well, for over 1000 years in fact) people asked their cat for advice. bastet has great legs.
I’m sad that it’s not out on PlayStation at the same time. Because I’m so so looking forward to playing. Just want to say, I disagree with the puzzles thing, I’d be disappointed especially being located in Egypt if there wasn’t mirror puzzles. That’s very classical of the era, so total make sense
I mean it's fun if eventually they go the james bond route.. have a new actor play the role. But for games, always keep harrison ford's iconic likeness and personality, always.
Yes, we need a VR mode one way or another. The first person view is screaming VR. It'll be wonderful if there was an official VR mode, but otherwise, I'd definitely play this with a VR mod.
I wonder if Harrison Ford will play this game himself! 🙂 What a trip it would be for this great actor playing his character on screen, and uncanny how the voice actor gets close to his voice.
Hearing that this game is a love letter to fans of the franchise and not really for maybe the casual gamer is something I honest,y love to hear. With something like Indiana Jones it’s not like Star Wars, Batman, or Spider-Man where they can do both since Indy is a more grounded mature IP the game should be a love letter for the fans And since Indy is my favorite film franchise (Raiders being my favorite movie ever made) and I generally love/like all FIVE movies (I’m not kidding) And I read a lot of the Indiana Jones comic books as a kid I can’t wait to get my hands on this game
Love the idea of real maps you hold in front of you. I hope they go the extra mile of having Indy scribble notes on them (kinda like in the Silent Hill series) and instead of a marker showing your position, Indy marks something in pencil showing where you are and what way you're heading each time
you went to a press event, and I got a closed-door in-depth video package that I'm not allowed to post or review the whole thing as I enjoy my NDA contracts but I can say only the in-depth video package was an eye-opener on the game. Also, please don't show spoilers or talk about spoilers
There's not enough danger, interesting enemies, traps or clever action mechanics (where's Lara when you need her gameplay ?) Finding keys is not exciting gameplay. There's hardly any tension. It's like a tourist's holiday of discovery. But it looks great and has a fabulous story.
Games like Tomb Raider etc. got their puzzle ideas and inspiration FROM the Indy movies. Dinging an Indy game for utilizing mechanics/elements that the franchise created by negatively comparing it to the very games that "borrowed" them isn't a legitimate critique.
I wish they'd gotten an impressionist instead of Troy Baker. He's a talented performer, but after a while of hearing him in so many other games, I can't not hear Troy Baker instead of the character. Hopefully he pulls it off.
Making a VR mode for a game so dependent on first person animations, with static objects that have no physics, is extremely, extremely hard to do well. Don't count on it.
I still hear Troy Baker and not Indy:( He's good VA but here, IMO, he's just not "it". I think they shoudn've hired someone else who sounds closer to Harrison Ford
Yeah I clocked it more as Troy too. It's sad though because it isn't really his fault. Rewatched the first three movies this week and the way Indy speaks is perfectly copied. It's really just the sound? tenor? of the voice itself and that is almost impossible to recreate.
It doesn't look stunning by today's standards IMO, but benefit of the doubt, when it's said to look stunning some of the lighting pops in and out in the scene which looked pretty bad. Hopefully none of that in the release.
Tombraider and uncharted are the copycats of indy franchies. So saying that you felt bored when doing some light puzzles is not bad design. Its just that the game was released to late.
I keep telling people that, there has only ever been three Indy films and a tv series(as a kid I loved it! As an adult 🤔 not so much, just nostalgic). But they keep saying some nonsense about there being 5 films… rubbish!
I dunno, I still feel like making it 90% 1st person is bit of a cop out because they didn't want to do the extra work. Love the look and period details. Voice work is decent, not perfect but acceptable.
