For all the people who don't know about this game series, and keep comparing it to Genshin Impact ( *heavily rolls my eyes* ), it's been around for years now. Much longer than Genshin. It's not the new 'waifu' or Genshin Impact clone. It's a Mobile dress-up game where the normal fighting involves you dressing up the main character, Nikki, in battle costumes and hope that the various stats of said costume will be good enough to win. I've only played Shining Nikki, but I learned about that game through Love Nikki; and I believe there is another one that came before it. This is the first time the Nikki series will be in an open world and I, for one, am super excited for it's release - whenever that will be. The story is pretty interesting: Nikki wants to save Miraland from being destroyed and has traveled through the past and future hundreds of times in order to prevent its downfall - but always failing to do so. She meets many friends, with some of them betraying her. The game is geared towards girls, specifically.
True. I've been playing Nikki series since 2019 in Love Nikki (dress-up 2D) & still playing Shining Nikki (3D) until now. I know before Love Nikki, there's previous installment (Nikki UP2U, if I'm not mistaken) although I never had the chance to play it. Nikki series has a deep lore, as well as a pretty strong fanbase.
Nikki is a dress up game aim at female player, their company focus on making game targeted at female audience. Infinity Nikki is the 5th game in the Nikki series. Why are people comparing a dress up exploration game to GI, this game is not for you, it not battle focus 😅
People are comparing It to Genshin because it's open world and you can fight in it. Why not compare it? There's going to obviously be an overlap in genre for the things it does have in common. And that's something every video game and product has to deal with. It's not a big deal. 😅
Though, I think male audiences are their target too. I mean, cute/pretty female character and you can change their dresses. That's good enough to attract the boys.
I see how these boss fights can be challenging. It's focused a lot on dodging and movement, and with the characters speed you can't really take it for granted compared to an action game where you have more leeway. It oddly enough reminds me of Mario where for bosses you have to get single hits on their weak spot when you see an opening.
There seem to be an option to move/ change camera position (see the frog dungeon video on this channel), so I would imagine there might be a combat lock on mode as well. so far you can shift your camera view to focus on the enemy, which is a pretty good start.

I'm uncertain abt this game. This is coming from someone who put a lot of hours into multiple nikki games and a lot of open-world games (not just genshin). Hopefully these bosses are minibosses, because they don't have really any personality at all. Nikki is all about this very specific brand of fashion-fantasy where power is wildly and weirdly centered around fashion. I actually liked the story from shining nikki a fair amount, so seeing a "alive rock that does big aoe" that shows up in every fantasy game ever (twice) is a little worrying. Like, it's not hard to come up with something a little more fashion-y than recycled stone talus.
I get that this game isn't meant to be a Genshin clone (and really it shouldn't even be compared since it's two different genres), but what's the point of a new game if we aren't going to do something new with the dress up mechanic? Shining Nikki at least had the 3D aspect going for it, so there's really merit if you want to move on over from Miracle Nikki to Shining Nikki (or vice versa), or even both. But here? What exactly do we gain from the combat? Story progress? Clothing mats? If it's either, then isn't it just additional tedium if all we really want is dress up or story? Especially if this really is all there is to the fights. Maybe it's because it's just CBT, but if it stays this lackluster and repetetive, then there's really no merit so far. Imagine having to do these fights over and over for mats (if ever that's what they're for AND assuming the drop rate isn't some RNG based stuff). It doesn't have to be complicated, but in a dress up game with so much style and good story, why can't its mechanics or enemies have flair? Magical girl animes are female oriented but still have a lot of excitement, flair and style to them. I just need some spectacle and a bit of strategy to the combat to engage with it. I don't wanna mindlessly zoom around, blast and dodge, over and over.
Yeah, the best fashion/fighting comparision I could think of was the garb system from the final fantasy spinoff Lightning Returns, which had it's limits, but still was an interesting attempt to actually integrate costume swaps into combat, rather than just blasting a magical missile over and over. It just feels like wasted potential on Nikki infinity's part.

Oddly enough the battle reminds me of earlier games like Mario or packman, where the gameplay consists of dogding and attacking at the right moment when the opponent exposes their weakness. Which works pretty well with the whole premise of the game, you get specific power ups for specific outfits. And that sort of game mechanics works well with the battle style. Kudos to the team behind Infinity Niki, this is the first open world game where the play style feels unique to the game and fits well with the story.

Just stick to their original concept that what makes Nikki interesting, a laid-back adventuring, interesting lore while collecting pretty dresses is enough. I play Nikki to recover from the stress of other action RPG, don’t make this lovely game as one of my sources of stress too… please.

I'm sick and tired of excecutives perpetuating the myth that games aimed at girls aren't finacially viable to make despite the sucesses of StarStable, the sims, stardew valley and animal crossing, let's hope the trend is finally breaking.
Seems that the attack/ combat ability is linked to the outfit Nikki is wearing. So the outfit in the video has 1 specific attack, which is the only one available to Nikki for this boss fight. I would imagine that there might be more outfits with combat abilities in the full release, which would give Nikki bigger verity of attacks and skills for battle, and we would be able to switch between them for other battles.
While the Genshin comparisons are going to happen regardless, I don’t think this is a Genshin/Botw style game. To me this feels more like American McGee’s Alice games with all of the platforming and puzzles. I also think that the idea of outfits giving you different abilities is a really cool feature. Although I do wish that the outfit that had given you the ability to attack had some other skills or even just a lock on feature.
2 weeks later, but finally a comment i can relate. Thought exactly the same thing, isn't this Madness Returns Open World and gacha. Hopefully they polish it further, this has potential, and the genshin comparisons just show how deep the " gamers" are these days 😂.
@@x2rmavHonestly, I don't see how Nikki is more like Madness Returns than it's to Genshin. They both feature female protagonists in pretty dresses, but Madness Returns is way, way darker, dealing with serious topics and has lots of explicit gore for an 18+ audience, whereas Genshin is set in a bright fantasy world with no blood in any of the fights, and the protagonist is travelling with a cute mascot creature.
basically f2p but sort of p2w at the same time, based on previous Pepper's Nikki series games. In previous games you have to save up for a long time to get a costume as f2p player, especially those that released for holidays and anniversaries (They're crazy expensive)
I understand it's a game aimed at a female audience, but I wonder about having a non-target combat system where the character does not attack in the direction of the mouse but instead attacks in the direction it's facing... Talk about having frustrating fights.
It's not like a female audience doesn't care about bad game mechanics. 🙄 Plus if anything, having a previous audience (fashion game fans) not used to difficult action games would make them more likely to quit the game early if it has mechanics that are cumbersome and difficult to learn rather than power through.
@@blondbraid7986 I didn't say that, actually I totally agree with you. What I meant is that, even though the game's main point is not the combat, which is normal for games aimed at the female audience, it makes me wonder what they were thinking by making the combat harder than it should be.
@@_SizzinMy guess is that the devs didn't realize it's better to drop a poorly designed mechanic or revamp it entirely, rather than keep it anyway in the name of "gameplay variety", similar to how too many action games that aren't supposed to be stealth games still have bad stealth sections tacked on.
Am I the only one who think a Genshin Impact comparision is valid? Having played both Genshin and the previous Nikki games, I do see similarities. Both games are free to play, have open worlds with a sunny and pastoral aesthetic, a protagonist from a different world with a talking mascot companion, and if you play as the female Genshin protagonist, both games stars a young girl in a fancy dress. If not Genshin Impact, what other big and popular games would be good comparisions? All other fashion games I know of lacks an open world, and most other open world games either have a completely different cartoon aesthetic, or is much more focused on big dudes with big weapons in the lead roles. Literally the only two other similar games I can think of are Lightning returns and American McGee's Alice, but they are both over a decade old, and in case of the latter, way more mature and violent than either Genshin or Shining Nikki.
My main question after seeing this is just, why show the same boss battle twice? Sure, the arena is different, but the entire fighting strategy looks the same.
It should be! Paper Games has said this game is going to be a multi platform (possibly a cross platform?!) title, with planned releases for PC and console. They also plan a mobile release for the game too as one of the available platforms, tho IDK for specific systems.
@@elizann3185 I asked this in IN Discord, and it seems that the game would have a 5 players co- play online option. So I would assume that yes, you can coop with up to 5 people if you play online.
Hm. I don't know if it's just me, but while I like the open world aspect ... I feel like there doesn't need to be combat for this game? Mainly because... The fighting in this game does not look fun at all... But that's just me. LOL, I'd rather do other things than fight bosses with a clunky and awkward combat system where my dodge is walking out of an incoming AOE or attack -- and my attack is me spamming one button that does a range attack. It looks easy which is fine, but it looks like filler content -- I'd rather they invest in other things like I wouldn't have minded crafting, gathering, cooking, etc. lol.
Boss design looks decent, if not a bit samey, and the art direction is great, but these attack animations are very weak and, at least in this video, the combat variety is sparse.

I want to play this game too. 🥺
it's tba
I hope you know this is for ps4 and 5😭
@@Kicksinknee the game will release on mobile and pc too.
exploration, unlocking TP, opening chests, gameplay gadgets, definitely genshin vives, if this game will be for low end or mid devices, then many people will play it.
is there no target lock-on system? the auto-targeting seems pretty shit ngl
ik this is a dress up game but i hope she got a better attacking animation that looks more smooth
i mean she should be slaying monster while slaying 💅
damn, this is good
i probably play this
this is a dress up game😞 pls leave us alone genshit fans
This genshit fans always chronically online and comparing to diffrent open world games. like there's an open world game released before them, hello?? Why do genshit mfs think the gooner, fan serviced game is the one invented
actually pretty cute. love the aesthetics
Yoo the quality really great
I play Nikki waaaay when the first one came out a simple pretty game of adventuring and dressing up, but I have to be honest… they don’t need to jump on the bandwagon. Just stick to their original concept that what makes Nikki interesting, a laid-back adventuring, interesting lore while collecting pretty dresses is enough. I play Nikki to recover from the stress of other action RPG, don’t make this lovely game as one of my sources of stress too… please.
I hope infinity nikki is a more comfy game tbh....fights here and there? Sure i dont mind
But if fights is what its all about then :/
@@CyborgRuru Papergames itself knows that the game's primary audience will be girls and women just like past games, and taking that in mind I think they won't stray too far and only focus on action, but rather exploration and puzzles. They aren't trying to be a Genshin copy either, that's not what the main playerbase wants.
@@CyborgRuru yes that is my main concern imagine collecting the dress via defeating a boss like genshin collecting lvling up materials no I’ll cry. T-T
@@misurie agreed, open map is a great idea, changing customs to enhance battle ability also not bad, just… I hope its not too stressful, I mean watching Nikki being chased by a moving rock with legs is terrifying.
@@Ka_tari_na We only had the first beta for the boss footage, so I hope they can improve on combat in this game to be simple enough, but also a bit challenging for some bosses with unique gimmicks
It looks exciting, rather than a normal battle game, this is more of a rhythm game
Combat freaks thinking every open world RPG game is for them.😂
I don't see how in the world a game of this quality and magnitude is going to be free on PC
I just love finally seeing a well-made game with a proper budget aimed at a young female audience. I'm sick and tired of excecutives perpetuating the myth that games aimed at girls aren't finacially viable to make despite the sucesses of StarStable, the sims, stardew valley and animal crossing, let's hope the trend is finally breaking.
Why she only have one attack
They both feature female protagonists in pretty dresses, but Madness Returns is way, way darker, dealing with serious topics and has lots of explicit gore for an 18+ audience, whereas Genshin is set in a bright fantasy world with no blood in any of the fights, and the protagonist is travelling with a cute mascot creature.
the combat look kawaii
I kinda suck in dodging
wait I thought this game was just dress up game, didnt know that it would be Open world action rpg.
I like it so far, but I think Nikki needs more skills or ways to fight the boss. It’s honestly kind of boring, but I’m still excited to play!
judging by all the icons i am guessing it's a free game?
basically f2p but sort of p2w at the same time, based on previous Pepper's Nikki series games.
I get its dress up game, they could have given more effort to boss fighting...
It's not like a female audience doesn't care about bad game mechanics. 🙄
Plus if anything, having a previous audience (fashion game fans) not used to difficult action games would make them more likely to quit the game early if it has mechanics that are cumbersome and difficult to learn rather than power through.
Its not valid
Who thinks this will be the new genshin impact killer
i hope its not only 4 clothes...maybe bikini or strings or micro skirt :D....
Is this pre-alpha footage?
My main question after seeing this is just, why show the same boss battle twice? Sure, the arena is different, but the entire fighting strategy looks the same.
Will it be available on mobile??
Yeah
Wait why are there boss monsters in a dress up game?
coquette with dark souls 😭🎀
@@elizann3185 lol
Is this also available for Android as well?
It should be! Paper Games has said this game is going to be a multi platform (possibly a cross platform?!) title, with planned releases for PC and console. They also plan a mobile release for the game too as one of the available platforms, tho IDK for specific systems.
@@viktoria_pikovskywe can coop?
@@elizann3185 I asked this in IN Discord, and it seems that the game would have a 5 players co- play online option. So I would assume that yes, you can coop with up to 5 people if you play online.
is this the dark soul of dress up game?
It looks easy which is fine, but it looks like filler content -- I'd rather they invest in other things like I wouldn't have minded crafting, gathering, cooking, etc. lol.
No pvp?
The top comment is really saying that girls don’t like good battle systems 😂😂😂 wtf.
Multiplayer?
Shameless rip-off of a Stone Talus. But that's okay, the game still looks really fun and I hope it comes to the Switch 2.
este juego sera mas popular entre hombres jajaja
Everything is genshin now
Oh no... that's not a styling battle??? Please just put the rock troll on a runway with me I don't want actual combat
Boss design looks decent, if not a bit samey, and the art direction is great, but these attack animations are very weak and, at least in this video, the combat variety is sparse.
Gacha system?
In that case no thanks.
1000% I would pay a single player game.
shining and miracle nikki have gacha systems tho
Why? Why be happy to have yet another money sucker that's only there to tease you. If it's your habit, good for you, brother. That's my point of paying one time for a game but for good!
Bruh I thought this franchise is about a dress up game.
Dang this game is a dress up game yet looks better than Genshin. Ngl. Genshin could never.
I'm not impressed with the gameplay. It looks too simple and not very engaging.
This game is not for you, go play your genshit🤡
Why is the auto-aim is so bad TT o TT
There is only one enemy wtf this looks cancer to play
The best game in the 2024 wuthring waves

you can see in here how bad genshit fandom are😂
Nothing new with those immature genshin fans lol 😂
Wow this looks really bad
Sooo manay genshin karen here lol😂😂😂😂
Wasn't this a game for females about dressing up characters? Why is it suddenly an action RPG?
Why can't it be both?🤡And also, "fEmAlEs"🤢
