    This was excellent. So much info and easy to understand! I had no idea how simple it is to make almond milk. I use it every day, so this will save a great deal. And I checked the label, even the organic almond milk has a bunch of added ingredients. I am GF, so the pulp to flour will come in handy. Now I just need to get a dehydrator. Thank you for another great video. I’m learning a lot!

    I typically don't drink milk - dairy or nut, but I do like my heavy whipping cream! BUT, my mom drinks almond milk that she buys in a box which I would like to make this for her. The added bonus was I found this video bc I wanted to make the nut flour pie crust. So my mom will get the milk and I'll get the pulp! Of course, I may have to try this in my coffee as well. Thanks again for all you do! God bless!!

    I cant really drink alot of dairy anymore bc it really affects my asthma. I started making nut milk and also oat milk about a year ago. With the pulp afterward, I love to add cinnamon, vanilla extract, coconut oil, chia seeds & then I bake it & make granola. The kids love it. Also, depending on what you're using for your ingredients, sometimes I give the pulp to the chickens for a treat. They LOVE it.

    If you want a really white milk, scald your almonds before you soak the nuts and take off all of the skins. It makes the milk not only white but it tastes more like milk without the almond taste. I use a Soyabella machine that makes all nut milks and also tofu and soups. It strains the milk so well that you can just pour the milk out into a container and then dry the pulp for flour.

    Perfect timing for a new video from you Rain Country on your channel. 👩‍🌾I just started with a blender of handful of sliced almonds to realize, it'll take a larger amount of organic with substance.
    Personally, I like to wean myself away from store bought almond milk Brands.To process, minimise and keep it safe. I'm more concerned without contamination in souring in the process at home. ABBA Yahshua Elohim YAHWEH is awesomeness in gratitude.
    Smell and taste is probably the best reference and to continue to learn and apply it from your home to my home

    I’ve been making oat milk or buy unsweetened almond at Aldi. (We’re over an hour from Aldi so that doesn’t happen too often.) I always water down any milk i use. I prefer the taste and it stretches the milk. I’ve even used water on cereal. It’ll do in a pinch.

    As always, a very good and with lots of info. I used to make coconut milk back in the 70s and 80s but kind of got away from doing it. I’m guilty of buying coconut milk occasionally but the carton always goes bad (even with all the junk they add). I was looking for anyone who had ever taken the cartons and pressure canned the commercial stuff. I won’t bother now. When I want it I will just make it. Once again, Heidi, thanks for bringing me to the light.

I haven’t tried any of the other nuts yet, but the cashew-pecan sounds good. I may try my hand at the vegan cheese with the left over pulp. Thanks for the info. God bless.

    I've been making almond and coconut milk for a while now. Going to try your cashew, pecan milk and make the cheese.
    Questions.
    Could psyllium be used to thicken ?
    Isn't the left over pulp now devoid of most of the nutrients after soaking, grinding and squeezing?

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you feel the need to thicken, sure you can do that. While the pulp may be devoid of some nutrients, that does not render it useless and it is a waste to toss it w hen you can use it for flour or making a tasty dairy free cheese.

      Here is my chocolate syrup recipe and even the dairy milk I used can be replaced with any kind of homemade nut milk and the butter replaced with coconut oil:
