I was there around 1980, when the lower part of Salt Creek was open to 4wd vehicles. I drove to the end of the road, which was a little below "The Four Faces" pictograph, and dayhiked up a bit past "All American Man". The combination af spectacular natural feautres and archeological artifacts (ruins and rock art) is unparalelled.

Pretty awesome hike!! Exploring all those ancient ruins must have been simply awesome. And some of your photos of the slick rock against the deep blue sky are spectacular. We visited Canyonlands back in May 2014, & while we didn't backpack, our day hikes were worth every step! Thanks for sharing your adventure.

Thanks for the comments Kevin. The ruins, artifacts, and pictographs were amazing, especially in such a seemingly remote area.

I love this area...what weekend in October was this? The colors are just beginning to show which adds to the spender.

+Laura Calder October 18th-20th. Yes the yellow cottonwood trees contrasting the red rocks and blue skies were splendid.
