    It is very clever to make jelly from juice. Yesterday I made ghee. I never bought it because it is so expensive. Thank you for making your inspirational videos. 🙂 Irma from the Netherlands

    Very nice. The problem in America is that the juice is crazy-expensive, so as much as the jellies and jams have gone up, it isn't worth it. But I enjoyed watching this and LOVE yours! They look just gorgeous.

      Oh no, that's not good!! The Tesco juices I used were £1.45 a litre, so we can still get juice very cheaply here.

    Hi Tilly
    That’s so cleaver making that Jam
    I would never have thought of that
    I’ve set myself a new challenge this week to only spend £20 per week until the end of January
    I’ve bought all the Christmas food apart from fresh vegetables and that’s only pennies these days as it’s usually discounted and have bought all the presents I need to so I thought why not challenge myself
    Take care Tilly xx

    Lovely clear video recipe. Thank you. I've never understood the science behind turning the jars over. Is it to heat the plastic rims on the lids before the vacuming process starts?
    Instead of ladling, I've swapped to using a pouring measuring jug which I've heated first with boiling water. Super quick and keeps the heat at a high temperature for canning.

    Hi Tilly. That looks sooo tasty and quite simple to use😍. I love all sorts of jam. Will try it over the week. I used to love Scotts apple jelly jam but you can't find it anywhere now. I used to buy it in my local co op so think I may buy the apple juice first. Only thing is Scotts apple jelly was red so don't know how it will come out as the juice is light coloured . • @dawnjj

    Thank you for sharing your recipe. Can you make a video about how to make your own pectin?

    • @rootofavalon3841
      @rootofavalon3841  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're very welcome! The pectin is really easy... after processing a big batch of apples, I boiled the peelings and cores, with the pips in. Just put enough water in to cover the apples and then boil it down to reduce it for a couple of hours. Then strain all the fruit bits out through a straining cloth, and put the liquid back on to reduce down further.

  • @hillockfarm8404

    Be carefull with the upside down thing, some coatings don't handle the heat well and come off contaminating the contents. The heat alone should give the vacume, not the upside down part.
    We have special sugarpectin mix here that needs only half the amount of sugar. So one part sugarmix to 2 parts fruit.

    turning your jars upside down for 5 minutes is to kill any bacteria on the inside of your lids after the wipe down from your hands...an olden day habit
