I'm a UK prepper, and I try to make as many meals on a tight budget as I can. I like to recycle and repurpose things that other people throw out.
I do shopping haul videos to help other shoppers on a budget find the best buys, and then I make videos of the meals I've prepared.
I'm also changing my garden into a vegetable growing garden, I do have a horticultural background so I have got a good start with the knowledge.
I love making jams, pickles and preserves, and especially if I can make them out of things that I have foraged for

Look at the ingredients and see all the vegetable oil, glucose syrup, preservatives etc in that "food". 99% of it is pure toxin or harmful to say the least.
Hi Tilly, great video ! There is only me and my husbandat home now. How long would you stockpile for and how much of each item would you stock pile please ?
Can i use corn starch instead of pectin?
Where are you Tilly? @rootofavalon3841
VERY helpful. Cheers 🇬🇧
Most of it is all made in the same factory 😃
Very nice
If you vacume seal your spinach it will last longer and keep its colour. I always cut the stalks off too, its not worth the extra time it takes to dehydrate them.
I buy quite a lot of this range. Im gluten intolerant, so cant by all. Beans are fab. I never liked hienz beans.
What a great result. A rich compost. Thank you for the recording.
Hi, hope you are ok, not seen a post from you in ages, hope nothing dreadful has happened. You are missed.
Whats Up!!!!!! no vids what a todo...
Thank you so much, this was extremely helpful 💐🌷
I live on a small Orkney island. The cost of food here is insanely high. I do miss all the basics price food. Always do a top shop when away visiting family. Thank you for this video. I really enjoyed it. It might be expensive to live where I do but I couldn't ever move back.
Do I understand that you do not blanch your parsnips for dehydrating? I haven't blanched turnips and they've been lovely, but everywhere seems to recommend blanching first. Yours look just fine with no blanching.
As a vegetarian this would be prefect for my weekly shop. Buying multiple boxes when it’s available allows me to preserve & meal prep for winter
well done, everyone should do this
The corner shelf is great! Those are hard to find in the U.S.
I can see that I am a little late viewing this remarkable upload but better late than never. I am quite new to prepping but looking at the current state of the world today feel it's better late than never. A really informative upload with some amazing items some of which I am quite envious of. I can see that you have given your prepping a great deal of thought and have covered all aspects of what may be needed in that emergency scenario. But most importantly it has shown me certain items that I and my family may just require in the future. Thanks for a great upload, and best wishes.
Bit late to this but I’m shocked at people’s attitude. When I buy things like chicken nuggets, fish fingers, sausages etc I usually look at the labels for the ingredients such as the actual meat or fish content. Some of the essentials range has the same as or even higher percentage in it than brands such as Birds Eye and the supermarkets regular own brand products. At the end of the day why are people so bothered what others eat? If they don’t want to eat cheaper food or can afford to get branded for everything then they can get on with it. Someone who is less fortunate eating beans, a loaf of bread and spread for under £2 has no impact on their lives whatsoever and it’s actually horrible that they try to shame someone for that. It breaks my heart knowing that children are going hungry and the cheaper products hopefully ensure that happens less😞.
I'd begun to use the oven method, but I have to say that yours is, by far, the best video out there to see exactly what's going on. Mine has been taking longer than 20 minutes, because I always go slightly over half a pan's worth of liquid butter and it froths up a lot early on, which means I have to keep the induction at 4 (max 9). On the upside, this give me plenty of time to keep checking the base of the pan to get to just the right stage. The batch I've just made is the best yet. I've made about half a dozen large batches over about the last three years and now I feel as if I'm beginning to get a bit more confident that it's not all going to go horribly wrong (which is a bit of a fear when you're using 8 blocks of hideously expensive organic butter at a time).
Crikey ! love it thank you very much, dont forget to cancel the gym membership
Looking at where your ceiling light is situated suggests that your house is built pre-1970, maybe even pre-WW2. I hope that your floorboards and joists are strong enough to carry all that weight. Explanation for non-Brits (or Brits under 50). Bedroom ceiling lights were always placed close to the window in working-class and some middle-class homes from the advent of electric lighting to newer builds from the 1970s onwards. This was for the sake of modesty. It meant the light was between the window and anyone undressing in the room so their undressed outline could not be seen through thinner curtains. Rich folks had the luxury of thick curtains of course.
You will find that a lot of foods are relabelled as we changed the wrappers for the supermarkets. remember yellow pack?
Hello .. I enjoyed this video and it gave me some ideas however i am wondering how many you are prepping for?
Hello, I just found your channel and enjoyed listening to your coverage of the products that you have. You mentioned that the room makes you happy, it’s the same with me whenever I’m in my pantry I have a sense of satisfaction. Thank you for sharing. Btw I’m in Florida USA. Look forward to your next video.
Baked beans I think is mainly the taste of the sauce, it can always be enhanced with a little of what you like, be it mild curry, smoked paprika etc. On one note now! after a year the Chilli Con carne of the JE range has near doubled in price!!!
Hi Tilly. I'm a new subscriber. Just one piece of simple advice when buying tinned foods for storage when shopping, make sure the tin is not dented, damaged or swollen in any way. This could effect the quality or lifespan of the contents 👍
They will replace all the natural ingredients with foreever chems. Buy raw ingredients and make it yourself. I'm 50, before cheap brands had cheaper contents not fake contents. It's all the main brands not just the value range. The info is all over the internet.
I have read that stacking tins 3 or 4 directly atop one another can weaken the seams of the lowest tins over time. Better to place a thin cardboard layer or plywood between each layer of tins. Personally, I place my tins in trimmed down cardboard boxes and stack these on top of each other to help distribute the weight. Also, although the storage in this video of tins directly placed on shelves is so attractive, I live in an area where we occasionally get small earthquake tremors. All those loose tins could easily end up on the floor at my home. Placing the tins in boxes with the sides trimmed down to 3 inches before stacking will provide a lot more stability.
Good ideas, thanks.
Wow 😯 amazing
Aww your sweet!! You still gave 10% God bless you. Xx
New to this but I can imagine a lot of these food products will have similar best before/expiry dates. Therefore how do you consume them. What is the reality of safety of expired food stuffs. I find the whole subject overwhelming and I don’t know where to start.
Ideally you should “rotate” your pantry food. That means organizing all your food, and consuming the foods that are closest to their expiration dates first. Some people take a sharpie pen and write the expiration date on the top of the food tin or package, so that you can quickly locate the expiration dates without having to pick up each tin and search for the expiration dates. Don’t buy foods that your family normally does not eat. Your prepper pantry should be filled with food that you regularly eat anyway with some extra for an emergency, if you rotate your food it will always be fresh. Takes a bit of time but worth it. That’s how grocery stores avoid having old expired food at the very back of every shelf. They “rotate” it so that the newest food is in the back and the oldest tins are rotated to the front of the shelf. Prepping is all about organization.
I’ve got to empty mine, not looking forward to it to be honest but you made it look easier than I thought.
cant stand food snobs. i try all the cheaper brands..some are just as good and some better than the expensive ones. years ago, i lived off victor value veg soup.
I like the brand apart from the sausages but there's no difference between them and the expensive ones
Lovely homemade butter! Just wondering if you have a recipe on how to make a spreadable butter - that'd be nice! Thank you!
I prefer asda just essential beans to hinez, some of asdas just essentials are better than some expensive brands, I don't care what anyone else thinks, I buy what I like
I love your comment “I like to stand in here cause it makes me happy”. Whenever I get discouraged or sad about something, I stand in my pantry and it makes me happy. 😊 I love how you’re organizing your preps. I use file cabinets for some of my bagged or packaged items. If you ever need a little more storage space, you could add a shelf unit right in the middle of the room on that grey rug. I’d rather suck in my breath and squeeze between shelf units than have to stop prepping cause I ran out of room. I’m in the USA, and I love your accent. Keep up the great work! ❤
I quit smoking when you made this video
Hope that you are OK Tilley, missing your giggle ❤❤
