He is very talented but those are not triplets. They are fast succession 16th notes or double taps,watch again. Its dada-dada-dada-TA-dada da.With the pauses after every double 16th bass and TA being the snare hit. But man he is rhythmically gifted. Carrying on the bass rhythm with one foot, hi hat with the other, keyboard rhythm with the left hand and sometimes picking up the other stick to carry a offbeat rhythm when hes not jamming on the keys.

A lot of musicians do this all the time - pianists playing chords with the left hand while running solo's on the right. That left-right independence (no political pun intended whatsoever) is essential to most. The same principle applies to playing 2 different instruments at the same time too: guitarists that sing, for instance.
For anyone wanting to know who these clowns are, the percussion is Louis Cole and the saxophone is Sam Gendel. There's a live performance where Gendel has the same mismatched headjoint and sax. Louis Cole is just... Louis. His eyes are definitely what tipped it off for me.

A lot of musicians do this all the time - pianists playing chords with the left hand while running solo's on the right. That left-right independence (no political pun intended whatsoever) is essential to most. The same principle applies to playing 2 different instruments at the same time too: guitarists that sing, for instance.

For anyone wanting to know who these clowns are, the percussion is Louis Cole and the saxophone is Sam Gendel. There's a live performance where Gendel has the same mismatched headjoint and sax. Louis Cole is just... Louis. His eyes are definitely what tipped it off for me.

This track got me through some really tough times. I was suicidal, so i joined the French Foreign Legion, managed to escape after 3 years and joined a rogue Circus on the move through Bulgaria. The Clowns that taught me my new trade were my new Family- the last mail while i was in the Legion informed me that there was a strange yachting accident that killed all 10of my remaining Family members... and their kids. So it was particularly tormenting that the head clown of the troupe started abusing our relationship as mentor and student and decided my wickle stick was his new squeeze horn... many years later Clown Core have managed to restore my faith in squeeze horns AND Clowns in general. Thanks Clown Core
