Gotta do it before it's too late. It's too sad if he doesn't get to enjoy the adulation.
He fits all the requirements to be eligible. So does Genesis so that's twice he should be honoured. 😃

Please put Phil Collins in the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame already. He seriously deserves it. All his songs are great and have meaning. Peter Gabriel was inducted twice once with the band Genesis, in 2010 and in 2014 as a solo artist. Phil Collins deserves that honor also as a solo artist.

Take me home to the mid '80's just for a couple of days please. I just wanna watch Joe Montana play for the 49ers one more time. Watch the Celtics Vs Lakers. Have a Winchell's doughnut. See my Grandparents one more time. Go to my old western themed McDonald's and have a McDLT. Play with my childhood dog Maggie. Play baseball in the backyard with my brothers and neighbors. Watch an original airing of Night Court. Say hi to my friend Billy (he got in the middle of bar fight trying to help his friend like a year after high school and lost his life). Ride my bike up to Tower Records and buy some cassettes. Back then all I wanted to do was be a grownup. If only I knew.

It was on a TWA, smoking section of course, and this song was playing on one of the radio stations on offer. I can't describe the feeling I was experiencing, I remember it being sunny, cheerful, and just happy. Every time I hear it now I am transported to that moment. Whilst I never listened to this song when I was in my younger years, I had noticed that my Father had this album maongst many of his records.
I finally discovered this gem several years ago and it gives me a deep sense of wistful longing.
I want to simultaneously cry tears of joy and sadness, and I really want to go back to the 80s, even though I keep telling myself that it is impossible and that nostalgia is just part of the exploratory journey of self-discovery that is life, for one and all.

Phil Collins has an amazing catalogue of songs with Genesis, and as a solo artist. This song had a lot of airplay in 1985, and in 1986, because it is so good. What a great song from a fantastic artist. Cheers!

I have to admit, I was very impressed with this when I first saw it, and i still am. I've never seen anything like it. The video perfectly represents the song. The guy leaves his house and does his thing in nearly every conceivable cultural hub in the world...and just wants to be home. Aren't we all like that?

Thank You, Phil! You are always in our hearts with your music. The 1980's was the last good decade that we'll ever know. Anything, from the 1990's till the present time (which, currently is 2023 as I wrote this), had only a few good artists, not to mention, society has gone to the dogs.
Phil's music has inspired me to do a lot a keyboard work and do original songs in keeping the traditions of those artists like Phil. You will never be forgotten. ❤

I am. I was from No Jackets Required one of the best albums of all time and wasnt even Phil's best. Greatest memory of this song was in August 1992 when I heard this song on my Sony Walkman on a Bluebird bus coming back west down I-20 from Six Flags over Georgia going back to Atlanta on a late Saturday night. Everybody on that bus was asleep except the bus driver and me. This song was the greatest memory of that entire church trip from Alabama. Phil was one of the best parts of my youth and still is at age 49 on April 30th 2024.
