    Im still listening to this masterpiece in 2023 . I remember in 1993 i broke up with my girlfriend and left her house in the rain and stoped a block away. I listened to this song for about an hour on my headphones and my walkman crying and thinking of her. I worked up the courage to go back to her house and told her I couldn’t go on with life without her and she took me back. We made love and it was the best day of my life. She then became my wife 8 years later and we had a baby girl, which is the best thing i have in my life. We seperated 16 years later but this song always reminds me of her and that day. I will always love her till my dying day.

    Phil Collins is one of the most underrated singers in history. Yes he's a drummer turned linguist but he is an excellent singer and his songs touch generations.

    • @jx346
      @jx346 3 ปีที่แล้ว +116

      he won oscars and grammys and sold #1's and certified platinum with his albums. i would not call that underrated. and you're right with the fact that he touched many generations.

    • @zaziou711
      @zaziou711 3 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      So true. Any band knows how hard it is for the singer to make a proper cover of a Phil Collins song, it's quite impossible to not sound amateurish by trying it. It's like any Freddie Mercury's song.
      Phil Collins is very underrated as a singer compared to the recognition he has as a drummer or a songwriter. Maybe because it seems so effortless for him.

It’s all auto tune and added singers or instruments nowadays. Where is the heart and soul of making good music? It’s dead now. These young kids listen to crappy music now with no real meaning behind it.

    I wonder if Phil has ever truly been recognized for his supremely spectacular, self deprecating sense of humor!
    This song has always been a heart-wrenching masterpiece, but Phil allowing lighthearted potshots to be taken at his actual career is pure comedy gold!!
    Eric: _”He used to be the drummer in a really good band and, when the singer left, he took over.”_
    Jeffery: _”Lemme ask you something: How good could he be if he’s back playing drums again?”_
    And of course Phil, who has actually turned in some really great performances in films, puts on an intentionally bad Southern drawl!
    When criticized, his response: _”No one ever said I could act! He said I could sing!”_
    Just marvelous!! 😚👌

    Phil came down to New Zealand in like 2019 or so, and it was absolutely pissing down. The first line did said as he walked up to his stool and took a seat in front of the mic; If I wanted to get pissed on I would have stayed in FUCKING ENGLAND. It was hilarious. Anyway he was an absolute champ and played and hour and a half as it was belting down. A LEGEND!

    I'm 47 And I do have to say that I consider myself a pretty big cup Phil Collins and Genesis fan.. It wasn't until tonight that I'd realized there was a video for the song that I missed because of my grunge and metal years... Awesome video and I really appreciate the art direction.. It's nice to see Clapton and others in the video in their younger years.

      @@terrencecitywide I feel like I’m 180,…. And all the prodding to achieve that number,.. can’t get the quality hospital nurses nowadays,… they are all away at the pubs and nightclub’s,… raving away,…and holding the government by the short and curlys I’m sure old Richie might just like that,.. I know previously our politicians enjoyed some strange practices,.. British medical staff should realise that nurses from other countries are filling up the positions and progressing up to senior jobs and management ect, ect,.. I personally know of people who have done that and plenty of others who are well on their way,.. the best nurse that treated me and was absolutely a consonant professional was a man from the Philippines,.. and helped me through the most difficult times I’ve been through,.. and was doing what other senior people couldn’t do with specialist equipment,.. quality and very good at the job he’s came to the uk to do,… awesome 👏🏼,.. so uk nurses,.. don’t just take it for granted that you will always have the opportunity’s that where always there before because they are being filled and done very well by overseas staff,.. who want a life we take for granted,…👍👍👏🏼
