Good video. Straight forward enough. I didnt want to just start pulling panels off w/o a decent direction. Also I love your working on a 5spd, I spent 6 months finding a black one, standard with a sunroof. (Hard finds in northern Ohio 2021)
Thanks, Cisco G. I had a Kenwood DNX7160 which was constantly searching for satellites and this video helped me to remove the headunit and install a new GPS antenna.
Thanks for the video. It was a helpful as I put a basic CarPlay head unit (on a base model 2009 forester). However… there are 2 cables that I could not make fit. Any idea what was plugged into the oem carrion cd player? I think one was the aux in. Also… I could not plug the ground wire. Is that an issue?
Someone needs to blacklist that dealer. We had to get the airbags replaced in our '09 Forester and the Subaru dealer did a great job. They also detailed and washed the car, no charge, and replaced a bad backup light bulb.
Great tutorial, is there a good way to drop the wire into the small cubby below vent controls? My plan is to drop a USB cable there, but i dont run it through the glovebox!
Here's a combo set from walmart that is cheaper than the mount and the bracket I bought (separately). This will work with any "double din" radio, but I imagine the process would be very similar to a "single din" radio. www.walmart.com/ip/Fits-Subaru-Forester-2009-2013-w-o-OE-NAV-Double-DIN-Harness-Radio-Dash-Kit/510884857?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=8959&&adid=22222222227073422128&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=339378958017&wl4=pla-662458781507&wl5=9028803&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=115786984&wl11=online&wl12=510884857&veh=sem&gclid=CjwKCAiAz4b_BRBbEiwA5XlVVmr7XJeE56A2IizXEaf3WyKmbehb1XfUhSxVm2efextzdjQW0-f3GBoCF9MQAvD_BwE
Hi, did you install this screen or came with the car? I also have forester 2011 but it has a CD player and I want to install a screen with the front-rear camera.
I have a question, how did you get your steering wheel functions to work with the aftermarket radio? Im having major issues even though I spent extra money for a fitting kit.

I really got lucky with mine. Happened to belong to a girl who's dad worked so hard to get it for her only for her to hate sticks in the end.

Glad I could help ^_^
Thanks for the video. Quite helpful. I need to remove my radio to fix a bluetooth microphone.

Have you replaced the power outlet under the radio?
If i wanted to install a newer display what size would i have to get?

I just dropped it directly below down there. You'll have to snake it thru, I snaked it from the bottom and grabbed it from the top
@@hikaruultma have been going through the glove box for the past year now lol
what is radio model OR harness set? Please share what you installed so we can give a try. thank you.

I installed it, original had a CD player as well. You have to cut /solder the wires yourself

You have to wire in one, they're sold separately.
My vid is a very basic install
