Fun unnecessary history on Adolf Sax (because I wrote a paper on him and I need to use this knowledge somewhere): He was “a child condemned to misfortune,” (according to his own mother) and extremely accident-prone, including but not limited to: falling three floors and landing on his head, drinking a bowl of poisonous chemicals at age 3 thinking it was milk, being right next to a gunpowder explosion, sleeping in a room while newly varnished furniture was drying, and somehow falling unconscious into a river. In 1841, he had intended to debut the saxophone in the exhibition, but it was destroyed, allegedly, by a jealous competitor. When he moved to Paris in 1842, there was a mob of angry French instrument makers who were extremely against Sax’s success for some reason, writing angry articles, boycotting, and refusing to play if Sax’s instruments were included in the ensemble. Even after Sax secured a contract with the French military band in 1845, the mob (now known as the “United Association of Instrument Makers”) tried to sue Sax out of his success for the next two decades, causing him to declare bankruptcy three times in 1852, 1873, and 1877, leaving him to die in poverty in 1894

My dad was unemployed (he’d recently finished his 3-year stint in the Army) when the World’s Fair was held in Queens, NY, so he went multiple times and served as a tour guide for out-of-town relatives and family from Sweden and Norway (3 of my grandparents were immigrants).
Five houses of the "Century of Progress" exhibit from the 1933 Chicago Worlds Fair are now on display in the Indiana Dunes National Park. One house, "the Cypress House" showed the durability of cypress wood. Another house, "the House of Tomorrow" is currently being restored. There is "the Florida House", a bright flamingo pink house; the "Ferro-Armco house", showing metal as a construction material; and "the Rostone House", showing an artificial stone-like material used in construction. Another building from that same fair was from the "Pioneer Village" exhibit. This building is a replica of the Old North Church of Paul Revere's lore. It is now a private residence in the town of Beverly Shores. All of these buildings were moved to Beverly Shores from Chicago by using barges on Lake Michigan.

Two notes: First, all that was from memory of an episode of The Dollop and/or Mysteries at the Museum and I didn't fact check myself, so there could be something I missed or made up in that. They baby incurbation story is actually pretty interesting. Because eugenics was becoming increasingly popular at the time a lot of people were of the opinion of "if they weren't strong enought to live they won't pollute the genepool" which as we know is quite wrong. However through this exhibition the incubation technology was able to find funding and save the lives of countless children. Its a very fascinating story.
Tugg, I really wished you were my history teacher. You make it fun and everything you say make FUCKING SENSE!! I appreciate you educating me on things that my teachers couldn't.
It would be nice if teachers were allowed to teach, or even learn. They get taught the same lies and then get taught how to teach them. School is a government funded propaganda machine these days. The amount of things I've found out was a lie from the internet is astounding

Abby, the beautiful void! Also, definitely am the guy who constantly makes sure to point out that Thomas Edison never invented a single thing in his life, rather, he conned inventors of their creations. He also actively worked to steal as many as he could. That's actually where Nikola Tesla's feud with him began, as well as when he became entirely solo and never once wrote down anything at all for any of his inventions or ideas. To keep it from conmen like Thomas, and from the Governments of the world, too, who even then proved they only interests they had in inventions was to exploit them as forms of profit and/or weapons to increase the damage and death tolls they caused in wars. Power and control. He was a immediate learner, thankfully. Furthermore, Thomas slowly electrocuted a Elephant to death at one of those two Chicago World's Fairs. I think it was the 1896 one.
Hell yes I am Team Tesla. Even wrote a essay about it in 6th grade. Tesla was a great man that was battling against a giant organization that was Edison. Tesla died in a hotel room. Tesla was a man ahead of his time
The origin of baby incubators is kinda wild. Along with the worlds fair stuff the creator also kept the babies as a Coney Island sideshow to pay for a clinc because no hospitals wanted to invest in the machines. The US was deep in there openly eugenic era and most hospitals didn't wanna waste money on the "weak" ones. The good news is that the Coney island clinc was actually top notch for it's day, having a very high success rate and also helped improve science for infant diets.
You make learning fun. I have a really hard time reading or watching much educational content (I know this isn't exactly what you'd show your 9th graders in history class but I'm still learning), because I get distracted too easily or it doesn't even register in my head. But watching you is like listening to a friend info dump about something they love and honestly, that makes me pretty happy.
I’m on team bob’s burgers for pointing out and making a song about Eddison electrocuting the elephant Also along that line probs team Tesla for no animal murder
@@SoundExperiment123 Tesla was such an awesome dude. He invented so many cool things. Like a remote controlled toy boat. I'm just happy people are now using Tesla's designs and that he was right, and Edison was a fraud.

17:05 A lot of those buildings were just really cheaply made facades, the outsides looked nice but chances are it was probably mostly gypsum and particle board. The insides were mostly large empty rooms as well. Iirc most of them ended up just burning down eventually
Somehow this channel went from tugg's hot takes and shower thoughts to straight up history lesson powerpoints in video form. How did he do this? How did he trick me into watching a 21 minute episode on world fairs? Edit: "History is silly and we should regard it as such" well shit i guess that answers my question.
2:25 Austrian courts in the 18th century tended to see a mix of German and Italian cultures, so you tend a see a lot of Italian operas. Maybe it’s obvious to everyone and I’m just being silly, but I just find it an interesting topic to talk about

One full on panic attack later, Tugg produces another masterpiece for us to enjoy
You sir made me spit up my tea. I’ve been dealing with a respiratory infection and ingesting prescription strength medicine to supress my coughs. I finally have a moment where the cough was suppressed an while watching this you made me choke and spit on my tea from laughter that the coughing came right back. Damn you at the same time
I NEED THAT SHIRT. I have way too much fun reading that book to my son. 😂
Babe wake up, tugg just dropped.
(Italian was used for aristocratic opera, whereas opera in German was used ad populum.)
16:10 Yea, the company who made until Dawn made a game based on H.H. Holmes and his Murder Castle, it's called "The Devil in Me" and it's actually pretty good :) (Well...I enjoyed it at least 😅😅😅)
1:03 those incubators saved so so so many lives.
Thank you tugg for providing me visual stimulation while I ate my macaroni and cheese
"According to my textbook" 😂
Hell yes I am Team Tesla. Even wrote a essay about it in 6th grade. Tesla was a great man that was battling against a giant organization that was Edison. Tesla died in a hotel room. Tesla was a man ahead of his time
please never take the random self talk out it’s literally my favorite part of every video
10:51 Tesla
10:13 🎵And they'll say, "Aw, Topsy", at my autopsy🎵 please tell me I'm not alone
I got it
I have that episode to thank for my knowledge about Topsy in general.
TUGG IS BACK
CHEW ICE CREAM?
TOOTH BETTER
Oh my! That diagram at 15:58 is pretty diabolical! It's like a Where's Waldo for dead bodies 😵
Tugging it to this

This was way better than expected. Subscribed
I love how he doesn't even remember what he wrote down in the script.
tugg is a frostpunk fan confirmed?? this needs to go onto big tugg gaming ASAP.
DADDY TUGGY IS ON TIME 🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🗣️🗣️🦅✨🔥🦅🦅
5:20 I like the way he said "Alto" like an Alto sax😂 wether it was on purpose or not.
I just got a cat because of tuggs cat video...
Dont make me regret it tucker
The origin of baby incubators is kinda wild. Along with the worlds fair stuff the creator also kept the babies as a Coney Island sideshow to pay for a clinc because no hospitals wanted to invest in the machines. The US was deep in there openly eugenic era and most hospitals didn't wanna waste money on the "weak" ones. The good news is that the Coney island clinc was actually top notch for it's day, having a very high success rate and also helped improve science for infant diets.
France displayed the metric system “well sir as you can see, this is three meters long” “wOaHhH”
Ehem, "metres" 🧐lol
You make learning fun. I have a really hard time reading or watching much educational content (I know this isn't exactly what you'd show your 9th graders in history class but I'm still learning), because I get distracted too easily or it doesn't even register in my head. But watching you is like listening to a friend info dump about something they love and honestly, that makes me pretty happy.
I’m on team bob’s burgers for pointing out and making a song about Eddison electrocuting the elephant
Also along that line probs team Tesla for no animal murder
"Electric Lo-o-o-o-ove..."
@@ptorqthey'll say awww topsy at my auuuutopsy
my favorite slightly greasy history youtuber
Thomas Edison - stole everything
Tesla - actually had revolutionary ideas
He should do a video on the Tesla Edison feud. It's absolutely crazy and I think he would enjoy it, and somehow it's still not common knowledge yet
@@SoundExperiment123 Tesla was such an awesome dude. He invented so many cool things. Like a remote controlled toy boat. I'm just happy people are now using Tesla's designs and that he was right, and Edison was a fraud.
Love the “You turned the page” shirt. Loved that book as a kid
You forgot howard stark presenting the hovercars during the worlds fair in the Captain America Movie 💀
That was the stark expo
Every cinematic reference to the World Fair is f**king hilarious. “So the World Fair was just a cover up?” “Of course. Why else would we hold it in Queens?” - Agent K; Men in Black, 1997
There's some truth to what is said in that quote, although nothing to do with aliens.
@@scottw5253 yeah, but men in black is literally about aliens so they added that in. Have you seen it? I highly recommend it. The second one is trash but the first and third are good.
Its time for a Cold War video at this point. Its destined to be.
I cant wait for the video dedicated to ranting about printers
TUGGLETS UNITE
👋
WE ASSEMBLE TOGETHER!!!!
Dog, I choked on my root beer reading this 💀
I’m listed in the jawrmy but I will forever be a tugglet
He lives in fear of the community he created
This was quite the ride, and Abbey did a good job helping!
Adolph Sax could be an entire episode on his own. Dude had a wild life; The saxophone pissed a lot of people off when it first dropped. Like this guy was dealing with some cartoon villain bullshit.
I'd take daddy tugg to a fair to win him a big teddy bear!
hes so pookie
I’m not even on my meds, I’m in between insurance plans (God bless the US 🦅), but I could not stop paying attention. It’s the world’s fair, the most interesting topic in the world, but you’re great to watch!
2:53 Looked it up, the number is sixteen. XVI is sixteen in roman numerals. :)
Love from France! Big Tugg's always got the right words for a good laugh. Legend
The fair that I go to every year used to be a camp where they hold people during war :/
Please never stop blessing us with this glorious, high-octane BigTug energy. All hail PapaTug, the king of chaos!
"No sex robot" is crazy💀
My mans really took a step backwards in technology; putting his smartphone aside, which can display an infinite amount of text, to purchase a printer and paper just to read his script while recording. I guess he wanted to fit the theme of revisiting the past.
Came for tug stayed for Abby.
I was waiting for this video, glad it’s here. Keep up the great work.
As a black woman, I was waiting for the ✨human zoos✨ to be mentioned.
As a human being, im wondering why you said it like that. Internalized racism craaaazy
@@armchairphilosopher6880 I think you need to do a bit more research.
What would be the correct way, king?
@makeda6530 when I learned about humans being put in zoos, like the Bronx literally shook me so much. And the fact the education system only goes so far to talk about racism and slavery at surface level is insane to me.
He did
Thanks!
Ever single saturday I always am excited for a new big tugg drop
17:05 A lot of those buildings were just really cheaply made facades, the outsides looked nice but chances are it was probably mostly gypsum and particle board. The insides were mostly large empty rooms as well. Iirc most of them ended up just burning down eventually
Yeah that's the official narrative, but the truth is more than most people are willing to believe or capable of understanding.
@@scottw5253 Shut the fuck up. Mudfloods are fake and tartaria are bullshit
Frostpunk mentioned, hell yes

4:20 what the f**** a kilometer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The fact that it’s at 420 is just great
I mean I'm American and I know what kilometer is but that's just us Georgians I guess
Buy a teleprompter Tugg. It wont be visible on camera and you wont have to memorize the script
2:25 Austrian courts in the 18th century tended to see a mix of German and Italian cultures, so you tend a see a lot of Italian operas. Maybe it’s obvious to everyone and I’m just being silly, but I just find it an interesting topic to talk about
2:24 that it's italian, not spanish you handsome r- word!
“Who’s William McKinley?” My dude, in Ohio he’s got a whole ass museum that Ohio school kids are brought to as a field trip.
