I love a Verrucosum! I personally just have the worst luck with em. I can never keep the spider mites away 😔 all my other tropicals and other plants will be fine but the pest jst always seem to find these lol
I have the besseae aff., imported from Ecuagenera too, and it’s one cranky anthurium! I gave it the best conditions in my cabinet and the leaves were still crispy around the edges. Even my warocqueanums are loving the cabinet conditions, but not the Besseae! So I moved it out of the cabinet once there were abundance of roots, and put it further away from the light, and I think it’s helping. Feels like it prefers cooler temp and lower light maybe. 🤷♀️ That AOSxPAPIXBESS……..🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💚

I got an indoor greenhouse and got all of the really nice rare seedling anthuriums and proceeded to kill all of them before they grew up! I'm done with the rare plants and moving on to orchids! Yours are gorgeous I'm very jealous but I can't do it anymore.

Beautiful collection. If your anthuriums aren’t holding onto leaves I suggest making sure your soil is acidic, they really need it bc otherwise they wont be able to uptake nutrients if it’s neutral or basic. Also, IMO cal-mag is essential with anthuriums! I water them with the recommended concentration of cal-mag once or twice a month… my anthuriums don’t drop leaves. I literally cut them off myself most of the time for space reasons. If you haven’t tried cal-mag try it! It’s like night and day.
@@AroidDistrict I also thought that but the way you mix it into your water is essential to counteract that effect. I also treat pests with sulfur which automatically acidifies the soil while treating pests so it’s a double-win. If you have bark in your mix it should acidify the soil as they break down.

If you use water straight from the faucet can cause plants to deteriorate around the edges, so I suggest you could still use water from the faucet but suggest you save jars to store water until you’re ready to use it. I also use clonex clone solution and foliage focus mixed together,the color should be a very pale yellow or buy a ph solution. I buy growth technology clonex clone solution and growth technology foliage focus.
Hi Dave! Exciting video....still @ the beginning....I have no luck with the Vietchii either....they have one at BWH's plant co....for around $30 I am thinking of trying again....my current one has a microscopic leaf trying to revive! My Besseae gre another new leaf...but my basement window popped open and drained all the humidity out of my kitchen so.....I just cut it off.....it was huge....so hopefully I get another....I may be giving mine a tad too much light.....it gets a little yellow edge but she is a beauty....ok going to keep watching...yours looks striking on camera!
I’ve been importing from tropical plants auction and have gotten some beautiful plants. I’m really enjoying my different types of luxurians and they are growing well for me. I also got a veitchii super narrow that is putting out a new leaf. Very happy with my imports. Hoyas are still my favorite.

@Aroid District my friend, when you've had three major ops on a spinal cord injury in your neck there are many buttons whooping accidents on a daily basis. My last one left me unconscious and now I have to have my millionth MRI in that damn tube listening to what sounds like loose tools rumbling around a washing machine. It's great fun but after eighteen years of that idiot drug addict hitting me in the face with an axe it becomes weary. Still, it needs more than that to bring me down. 😀
Damn. When that happens to me… I usually un-pot a plant and sit it in water with a little peroxide for a couple days, then pot it back up. But I hope yours wakes back up.

Anthurium are so beautiful but I’m with you I want those perfect leaves and it is so hard to not bump an emergent leaf or have some kind of watering imperfections show through. I love them though and I’m going to keep experimenting! In my conditions I think they need more frequent watering. I noticed curling leaves or rumpled emergent leaves flatten out if my watering is on point. I’m so scared of over watering I think I’m swinging too far the other way. It’s a fun journey and I can not wait to see that doc bloc hybrid grow up!

I’m worried when time to transplant the Besseae that self watering pot will give you horror, trying to remove the roots. I’d get her out. Like Terra-cotta….break the pot to save the root.
Hey, yes coco chunk, perlite, and moss together can be watered just like soil. The key is to not have too much moss near the bottom of the pot for proper drainage. I water it at the sink like soil or spray with nutrient water along the top.
