    If you are a frequent user of the light rail system, you could buy a reloadable beep card, say with P100, P200, etc. load. Also, for your information, the maintenance contractor for the MRT EDSA is Sumitomo of Japan, so you are assured of world-class maintenance.

    Sho your Japanese friend said that the malls in the Philippines are nicer compared to Japan. I do agree, but the public transport system like trains & subways are extensive and way better in Tokyo compared to Manila. Although, efforts are being made right now and construction of new MRT lines and subway are on the way, but some of those projects won't be operational 'til 2030.

    We have 3 light rail systems working and 2 under construction - MRT from North Avenue, Quezon City to Taft Avenue Pasay City; MRT 7 from North Avenue, Quezon City to Tala, San Jose Del Monte Bulacan ( construction in progress); LRT 1 from Baclaran, Paranaque to North Avenue. Quezon City, with the southern stations from Baclaran, almost extended to Bacoor, Cavite and subsequently to Dasmarinas, Cavite, and finally to Tagaytay City under LRT Line 6; LRT 2 Antipolo station to Recto station Manila. There are also the proposed/approved LRT 4 (EDSA going East to Taytay) and MRT 5 (Subway - Quirino Avenue to Airport T1/T2)

    BEEP Cards are available to buy in any MRT ticket booth or get one from the ticket vending machine in any MRT station. If you're a frequent MRT rider and you want a more seamless journey, then it's better to have a Beep Card instead of a single journey ticket so you don't have to queue to buy a ticket. You guys could have just ask the cashier for a beep card for Sho, lol! Anyway, if you're going to Megamall & you're coming from Guadalupe Station, then just get off Shaw Boulevard because it's much closer to Guadalupe station where you came from. It also depends on which Megamall building you're heading to!

    I used to live in Manila back in 2000, so I witness the transition of cities around Metro Manila. There aren't many development in public transportation. It's still lagging way behind other commuter-friendly countries. While there are additional train and extension, and boat lines that make commuting easier for some locals, getting around the entire Metro Manila area can still be challenging. Certain places can only be reached by taking multiple modes of transportation which can deplete your budget for transport, so I get why some people choose to take colorum, taxi ride or private vehicles.
    Way back in 2000, I remember rush hour wasn't that bad in MRT, but I remember after 7 years, I experienced the long line in MRT. And I mean the whole staircase was full of people flowing right down the staircase up to the street of EDSA.

    • @leilegion
      @leilegion 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@richardnuevo The development is still lagging. The public transportation can't keep up with the demand. Population have grown so much in MM. Hence why we are at the #1 with the worst traffic. If there's enough convenient way to commute for the general public, people will choose that instead.
      We can all joke being branded as a country with the worst traffic, but to accept it and take it lightly won't get us out of this bracket.
      We've been losing billions of dollars because of this problem. Imagine how much we would have gained if our infrastructure have not been neglected this far too long.

    Japan is already a developed Nation long time ago 2nd after USA and japan is way richer than England so dont compare Japan to the Philippines which is japan is already a grand father the Philippines. thailand is also a poor country along with indonesia and Malaysia but these countries are quite good in transportation system compared to Philippines its just that Philippines way back recent administration is not really good to take the improvement of its transportation lines. but right now alot are on going underconstructions like Metro Manila Subway, extensions of LRT lines from north to south, NSCR- line and airportlink railways. once these completed soon Metro Manila transport system well improve for sure also it is collaborating with japanese experts.

    dude i been to ASIAs major cities like TOKYO, SEOUL, SHANGHAI, BANGKOK, MANILA, KL , Singapore and Jakarta and i would say transportion wise Japan and South Korea top notch but when it comes to city offers with affortability yeah Bangkok, KL would dominnates but Manila as well has something to offer very diverse mega city its CBDs and shopping malls are top notch in the world. but the 1 thing is for sure man comparing Japan which is already a grand father of the Philippines is no match but man Philippines is just started to rise again. if you noticed alot are on goings in line with infrastructures, developments of smartcities like reclamation in manila bay and improving its accessibility through enhancing its transport system alot are underconstruction like Metro Manila subway, airport link, NSCR, and commuting. just wait dude once these will complete by early 2030 it will change alot.

    Dont compare Philippines public transport system to Japan which is way way far older and developed long time ago its like you are comparing a baby that just got born a while ago to a man which already a hundred years old they are no match. thailand public transport system also is not really modern just in a good way. i think Indonesia and Malaysia are a bit good in a different level but, still dont lookdown Philippines coz Philippines is just started and for your information Philippines has a huge potential to be a developed nation and way ahead its counterparts like Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia as its economic growth are the highest not only in SOUTH EAST ASIA , ASIA but in the WORLD as well the Philippines economy grows bigger than the rest of SOUTH EAST ASIAN countries and projected to surpass THailand economy by 2027.

      Metro Manila had a well-designed city plan that should have made it a commuter-friendly city a long time ago. However, it was never implemented properly due to various reasons. This issue has been persisting for a long time, even before you were likely born. Adding to this, the government keeps changing and abandoning projects initiated by previous administrations, which has further delayed the development of the city's infrastructure. Metro Manila is not an infant, but a city with poorly executed infrastructure.
