Mergim I like to invite you to do a vlog on Two Serendra. I feel that it is the best complex in BGC. I have been living here for a year. With over 6 beautiful swimming pools, an underground basketball court, badminton courts, plenty of gyms, plus more. I understand it's on the Southside but SM AURA and Market Market are just across the street. Also,as you know, to renew your visa is also a 5 minute walk. Uptown on a good day is a 15 minute walk on a bad day 20 minutes. One can find a studio condo for around 30-35000 pesos and have use of all the amenities of each complex building.
Wow studios are only 35,000 now? That’s good, I had a start up before and in the early days I was making the deliveries myself, I had a delivery in serenadra and got to go inside, i was blown away how beautiful it is, you don’t feel like you’re in a city.
@krisb-travel Yes I was moving from one of Two Serendra condos to another. There was one that had to be the cleanest condo that I have seen. They were asking 35000 but said they would go to 30000. The owner had to go back to Taiwan. It was on the 5th floor with a balcony looking over a open area and the pool. The other ones I viewed also very nice for 35000, fully furnished. I didn't rent them because I was thinking I needed more space. Of course after I signed the contract of a one bedroom it happened that a studio would have been enough. lol
There are many ambitious projects in Metro Manila that might poop out our eyes especially the proposed reclamation in Manila Bay. When the subway will be opened, Manila will be quick to travel and could help to boost the economy. Love the Philippines 🇵🇭
That condo you liked in forbestown is Avant at the Fort. We stayed in a loft penthouse there and liked it. Have only stayed in forbestown on our many visits and like it there. Have also visited relatives in a 3brm loft unit in Two Serendra and it is beautiful within that complex. You should try to get in there.
Thanks for sharing the updated info. I’ll be at an airbnb in Uptown One Oct through Jan. Let me know if you want to collab a little while Im there. I know my audience would love the long term BGC insight.
I was paying P30/40K in makati in 2005, that’s when makati was No 1 place to live, also the building I lived in was probably the best there at that time. The £ exchange rate at the time was 100+ pesos to the £. I was next door to Greenbelt 1 which was convenient.
the government cannot create cities like BGC because of corruption, long bureaucracy, and budget cuts. BGC is like this because it's owned by private corporations, so they can create beautiful walkable cities however they want, using their own money.
Nice one Mergim, thanks for sharing, excited to visit/stay in BGC next week, watching from Herefodshire, England. 2008 was the last time i visited BGC and everything has changed since then, it so amazing to see the changes, :-). I will give you something/pasalubong from England if we will be lucky to bump into you in one of your or our walks in BGC area hehehe. :-) I know you are from England. Enjoy your stay in Philippines.
Can you do a video on the prices of units that are not furnished? My wife and I put our house on the market and we are getting ready to move back to Manila here after the holidays. We’re going to be looking for something long-term that is not furnished. Either BGC or Eastwood.
thank you so much Mergim for this vlog greatly appreciated❤Im cosidering of staying in the Philippines for a year next year. i need your expertise .And I'm more for the external view i like window with a very nice view no obstruction or building blocking my view.I don't mind older as long there is a nice beautiful view. And I don't want near a hospital or cemetery either that's bad fengshui😁
Really enjoying the scooter Vlogs around BGC 👍🇵🇭🛴 Can you show the Makati area? Pros and Cons? I hear it’s a great alternative but transportation is needed to get around. Thanks
Speaking of a 'bubble' - I saw quite a nice little bubble in a video called Eastwood ! -- A studio there was only $320/mo in an area that has about everything needed and is very nice. Worthy of consideration perhaps for older people who have limited needs and desires ? 🤔
We were there yesterday, near Arya and Pacific Plaza. We check out these units selling for 5.5M for a 1 bedroom. Though the condo is already 11 years old, it would be a good investment especially for those who are into airbnb
Liked and subscribed! We have crossed paths many times. Thank you for showing us around BGC. Other than that hole through the wall where you get siopoa are there any other exits in the wall to good barangay food?
We are planning to stay in Philippines 50% of the year and hoping to find a nice apartment with good furniture and a big bed for around 40.000php . But how is it to get condos for 6months at a time? Preferably i would love to come back to the same condo year after year. They car rent out on Airbnb the rest of the year? But im not shure if its possible to make deals like that. October to April
okay so BGC is a bubble ? meaning it's not part of Manila anymore ? ... so how can we make it "Filipino" ? should we put some homeless people living under tarp ? should we have some people selling siomai in the side of the road ? should we put more jeepney in the roads ? ...will that make it more "Filipino" ? or not enough Filipino style ? let me know. (yes I am Filipino person asking this questions)
filipino living abroad here... my interpretation of what he means is that BGC is a bubble because all the development just suddenly ends abruptly at edge of BGC. It just feels out of place when you look at it from satelite view on Google Maps. It looks like those post apocalyptic utopia city in movie where the rich live nice and just outside their walls the poor struggle and suffer. Most other cities would have developments like this that would have some gradual development variations between to make them look more integrated into the city fabric. Right now, BGC just feels like a "bubble" that is a self contain experience... Like when you walk into one store in the mall, the store next door does necessarily share the same aesthetic looks and feel as the store you are in. I personally believe it has set a template on what good development looks like in creating a vibrant and workable city development should be.... And honestly, with some of the new developments I'm seeing on youtube being featured... BGC has basically set the standard and a lot of them are copying BGC's idea. Let's just hope they account for and include actually affordable living spaces for people to actually move in. Not just rich people.
I think the 2-3 week breaks you did before kinda hurt your channel recommendations on youtube algo. Vlogging is really volatile man and a lot of peeps say it's easy 😂 Anyways, the growth of PH could continue for like 2 decades and yes it's almost certain that there will be something like a new BGC in the next decade and what's more, those will be connected VIA TRAINS But if you're really interested in investing I really suggest you look for the New Clark City. The government kinda wants that area to be like the next Metro Manila as part of their NCR decongestion plan but that will probably take like decades too 😅 In a way you're in time for investing if you have the funds BUT for vlogging you're way too early haha
Rich, exclusive bubbles like BGC is the only way to live here in the Philippines. I'm in one of the less developed provinces and life outside the exclusive bubbles is rough and tough.
BGC rents are not impacting general housing costs in the Phils. If you can’t afford 20-25K rent, you really can’t afford to live in BGC, so you would be looking elsewhere…hence, BGC rents do not really affect rent in the rest of Manila.
Hi mergim, I am moving to the one uptown residence and I have just one question: Did you feel safe with the basement tunnel leading to uptown mall? I am sure it's safe but part of me wonders if someone sketchy would be waiting down there. Thank you in advance
A company in the Philippines really needs to create a reliable Real Estate website,, with up to date clear photos of the properties that are up for sale/rent. Looking at BGC condos,, a majority of the photos are so pathetic and looks like the pics were taken from the original Nokia camera phone in early 2000's. An example is one of a condo for sale for nearly 9 million php.. and all that is provided is a pixelated fuzzy pic of an empty room and a dark staircase. Come on - Philippines love their Instagram-able photos, why can't they do the same for real estate?
Can you show condos in 100k-150k range, I'm looking 2 bed, spacious, modern, well furnished, massive fridge and kitchen, great unobstructed views so don't have to close the curtains 24/7 when I'm inside. Desk, dinner table, gym, pool, 1gbps internet or so. Should be spacious, very modern amenities. Online seeing 150k-200k prison cell looking rooms like the ones you show (no offence). It's nice to come bang one out and that's it. I'm considering living there, long term, would need something big and enjoyable centrally, so can cook, and organise things at home.
There’s plenty of great condos in that price range. Just send an email found in the video description and we can forward you a few available options :)
Bgc and makati CBD are nice places because they were developed by Ayala people with great intelligence. They will remain in the bubble because the most Filipino officials have low intelligence.
that really depends on your lifestyle and how much you wanna live it up! But conservatively managing your income, yes! If you plan to eat out (Chili's, etc) almost every night and drinks and clubs, NO!
i wanted to rent cheap 1 bedroom for 2-3 days for short stay all inclusive (aircon, elec. water and wifi just to explore around bgc. Any suggestions at all? How much? Thanks.
The area around Trion and the upcoming Aurelia are quiet at night, being away from the party atmosphere of Uptown. That my friend is a major plus to a lot of folks who live in the area.

FYI all... PH native. From CA.. went to BGC for the 1st time.. last time to PH before bgc was fully established in 2018... BGC is kool for a week.... then you wanna explore elsewhere esp the real Philippines... an actual Filipino perspective... not foreigners perspective
Yeah I get what you mean I feel like it will get old fast. Had so much more fun in the islands and rural area compared to something like that esp for visiting back
The main problem with BGC is that after 7pm ,all the office building and business close, the street very quiet and empty . Unlike Makati and Mandaluyong there are still plenty people on the street , street full of cars and traffic.
Singapore going to import electricity from Australia 5000km using underwater cable. Philippine face shortage of electricity to develop the economy tourism, restaurant, hotel, manufacturing industry, call centre. But the government not consider import electricity from Taiwan or China only 1000km away. Mergim and other expat have to pay high electricity bill. American want Philippine people blind with no power. Philippine people want to be American, we teach 110 million Philippino how to be true American . we know American going to throw you people out of their country.

I do believe that I live in the best condo complex in BGC. Excellent security, strict rules but the guards are friendly and the staff are 2nd to none.
Thank you for your post. I'm planning to relocate to the Philippines in a few months. I will certainly take a look at this condo complex.

the government cannot create cities like BGC because of corruption, long bureaucracy, and budget cuts. BGC is like this because it's owned by private corporations, so they can create beautiful walkable cities however they want, using their own money.
A Consumer Reports study showed inverter AC are 30% more efficient so ones electric would by lowered by that amount.

Technically speaking you should use the term “apartment”for rentals. It’s called “condo” if you own it.
I need a cheapish 3br or 4br condo for less than 90kP.. Cant find one..
I don’t think NCR will be like BGC becaused BGC used to be a military camp that was sold to private companies and NCR have mo more open space

Dont have a condo opposite xlylo disco ie park suites it's noisy all night
