I don't understand why Manam doesn't put Calamansi on Palabok and Sisig. This is the time you go to Molito Alabang and Alabang Town Center (Max's is big there. Just take a P2P bus from Market Market to Alabang and Vice Versa only 15-20 mins via Slex or In Greenbelt Makati (Mercury Drug Side) P2P Greenbelt-Alabang Town Center vice versa via Skyway. They don't stop until the destination hence Point To Point Bus.
after watching with my wife, you'd pushed us to buy menus and cook our favorite dish which is beans with pork pata🐖... you make my day again...😋 DAGHANG SALAMAT!
Try bulalo karekare fresh lumpia Lumpia Shanghai Caldereta Fried daing bangus Morcon Cordon blue Try Kuya J or mang inasal Jollibee Chowking or barrio fiesta thank u for trying our Filipino food god bless enjoy your stay in Philippines also try to visit other beautiful places
Mergim truly DGAF pulling out a mic eating dolo and talking to himself surrounded by families on both sides, interviewing strangers, wearing shades while eating etc. That's the beauty of the Philippines and Southeast Asia in general though - everyone else also DGAF and people will chat and entertain you so that you feel comfortable, whereas in the West it'd be much more awkward. 😂 I can't even picture this in London, Paris or LA. People would probably just move to another table. 😂
nice you tried manam sinigang! edit: gerrys grill.. like their fish menu and pork bbq. i dont eat raw but they say their kinilaw is good also. i like kare kare in general also, but you should know how to eat with shrimp paste. dont forget po to ask their recommendation also. just a note..filipino food usually taste best when its home cooked (di tinipid) compared when its for business, have to tailor the ingredients (pang-masa) unless maybe if its high end, but there are some hidden gem karenderyas or small eatery there. enjoy!
Try kare-kare! I haven’t seen a lot of vloggers try it Not sure these very old establishments are still around but they defined Filipino food in the 70s 80s 90s - Barrio Fiesta, Kamayan, Milky Way, Doña Nena’s. For fun, The Singing Cooks and Waiters resto.
first sisig recipe from pampanga has no egg in/on it. when other provinces copied it, they added their own ingredients thats why some has egg. but for us here in central luzon we prefer it w/out the egg, especially if the pork and chicken liver was grilled not fried.
Kanin Club Restaurant in Westgate, Alabang & in QC & try their Crispy Dinuguan, Tinolang Manok & Sinigang na Baka but I dont know if they have a branch at BGC but they have authentic delicious Filipino food
Manam is fancy Filipino resto to me. Start with Max, Barrio Fiesta and Aristocrat. You may check their record history... They have been in the business for decades serving our foreparents til now. And then try Baliwag and Andoks Lechon Manok. Speaking of contents.. this would be a very good content series.
There's nothing fancy in Manam imo. The foods aren't that good. 5/10 our rating only, not authentic ph cuisine for sure but its not the issue for us but the taste of the food. Mesa we love it better. Meanwhile in Sentro Greenbelt they served us a very salty Sinigang😅 we remained polite about it when we told them. They said they will fix it, tinanggal kalahati ng sabaw at they added more water na lang😅 di na kami nag complain pa pero ayaw na kainin ng kasama ko😅. Opinion lang po namin ito I'm sure madami Pinoy love ang Manam😊

I agree that foreign vloggers should start with businesses that's been around for decades coz they tend to keep their dishes still traditional and authentic at simple lang pero masarap talaga.

Thats a feast Mr Chairman! You got all the best in the menu. If you treat a foreigner, those are the orders that you want them introduced to Pinoy food.
Impressive for a foreigner that you actually know what to order and what they're called, you can also try eating the sinigang with your rice and putting some calamansi on your palabok, that's how we usually eat them.
Other Pilipino restaurants that are also famous are Barrio Fiesta and Mesa . Barrio Fiesta invented crispy pata. Mesa has also watermelon sinigang and the Shanghai lumpia is also good. Via Mare is also an choice.
Greetings from San Francisco. Am glad I opened ure vlog…I have a condo fully furnished, right around the corner of ure condo ure renting. We visit our condo once a year for 30 days. We have a caretaker who visit our unit as I have no courage to have it leased or rented. I agree with you and we’re very lucky to be able to acquire one there. Everything is there and so convenient. Good luck in your adventure & God bless you🙏
Good day mergim, I am a great fan of yours, your vlogs are very interesting and very informative but you still haven't tried going to Greenhill area , there iare many restos here and a unique shopping mall here . Please try to vlog here, will be waiting for it. Thank you
Wow, with that so much food, it only cost around 26-27 USD ($). Here in the U.S., that amount will only buy you one item selection on a menu and you will still be starving.
Good move. You should do a series of vlogs featuring Pinoy restaturants. You can start with the OGs like Max’s, Aristocrat, Savory, and Via Mare then move on with more modern ones like Locavore (and their sizzling sinigang), or Crisostomo’s. You may also want to try the less commercialized stand alone places like Cafe Juanita in Pasig.
You don't have to go far Mergim. I suggest you try MESA at SM AURA not only because of it's proximity to your place but the food and ambiance is good as well particularly this time of the year when it's beginning to feel like Christmas.
I've tasted everything in Mesa's menu, the only item I found to be exceptional is their 2 ways Laing. Everything else is mediocre or slightly above average. Manam is still a tier above Mesa.
I had lunch and dinner several times at the two mentioned restaurants. We will find out Mergim's discriminating taste should he opt to dine at MESA SM Aura.
Mergim I recommend aristocrat restaurant, or the singing cooks and waiter restaurant those two restaurant are well established and famous for its Filipino dishes they are here decades and decades ago together with Max's restaurant establish after world war 2!
Perfect!! Staying at BGC in Jan 2024 and was wondering about the restaurant. Also watched the Vietnamese restaurant you featured at the uptown mall. Help us decide what to go to when we visit.
Boy watching you eat made me hungry. The Palabok had a very good presentation. The way you described the Lechon Kawali is good usually it is hard but you said it was soft and lightly crispy, that’s good, yum. A lot of people mix their Halo-Hallo when they eat it, I usually don’t mix it, bcoz I want to taste individually the flavors of the Halo-Halo especially the Ube ice cream, my favorite ice cream. Good food vlog 👍👍👍
Good morning Mergim, watching you eat makes me drool and hungry😮 This is another awesome content! very entertaining, mouth-watering, made us drool content! 😊❤
Great video Mergim. Now I know what to order at Manam. For a more "earthy" hands on Filipino dining experience, try Pagkaing Gubat in Quezon City. For a more exotic experience, try Balaw-Balaw in Angono, Rizal though I know you are not a fan of too exotic food choices.
I recommend to try also and compare the taste of different types of sisig like Grilled Pork Sisig "My favorite", Tofu Sisig, Tuna Sisig, Dinakdakan sisig, Pusit(squid) Sisig
Theres Abe in Serendra. Also Sarsa for some Bacolod/Iloilo fare. Dont know if theres a Locavore in BGC but theres one just across the river. Try also Mesa, Pamana, Romulo Cafe, Kanin Club, Lampara, Aristocrat...
The food is delicious!! I enjoyed the watermelon sinigang, crispy palabok, and everything else!! You can always take out the food for later or next day.
Hi Mergim, loved the video! My wife & I really enjoy Manam (in Greenbelt). If you ever have desert there, try the buko pie with cream it’s really good! Another really good Filipino food restaurant it Tatatito in Makati….. Try the Kalderetang Fried Chicken and try their Avocado Shake (So good)!! One other really good little place is: The Marketplace at Ayala Triangle…. order the pork roast belly and the sisig (get it warmed up)…. You will enjoy it! We are Canadian but my wife is originally from the Philippines so we go back every year. Love your vlogs!!!! 😊❤️👍
Those are Restaurants dishes, if you want a proper Filipino Delegacy you should eat home made from Titas and Titos mostly Sisig, example my tita's Sisig is the most delicious sisig i have ever tasted, those Sisig in Restaurants are not even close.
I was always amped on my ships whenever Filipino food was served, cant wait to go back to PH.
❤️❤️❤️ MANAM 😋😋😋

Manam is a good start for foreigners, too. It’s a fusion food and one of my fave during cravings. It’s quite pricey but their twists are so unique.

Since you tried Manam which is so close to you, maybe you can try Aristocrat by Manila Bay. They have the best “chicken BBQ.”
That was a feast! Enjoyed watching you enjoy the Filipino food. If you’re going to Max’s, order the spring chicken.
Hey chairman! try Cabalen
Mateo’s (A family restaurant serving Spanish Filipino cuisine) in New Manila, near Robinson’s Mall
Wow, with that so much food, it only cost around 26-27 USD ($). Here in the U.S., that amount will only buy you one item selection on a menu and you will still be starving.
