      they meet at a rich school, some of their moms where trophy wifes. Also in general the 2000s NY rock scene was a less dangerous response to nu metal wich had the more metal, aggresive attitude. The NY bands where a lot more fashion concius, less macho, less heavy with music that appealed to women a lot more.

      "Sagganuts" it's an unreleased song. Hasn't been played in 20 or so years. The only performance I can find is from Arlene Grocery in 2000. One of my fav unreleased songs of theirs..

    Those throwing shade for them being “manufactured” I get it to an extent but they are talented musicians who’ve made some great music. The Beatles were one the first “manufactured” bands and many all time greats as well.

      @bungle3912 couldn't afford? You obviously haven't read any of their bios. This band dressed and acted like junkies but certainly weren't from the street.

    This entire music scene was completely astroturphed by the media. Nothing organic or genuine about it. But the media hates nu metal and pop punk so much they decided to create hype for these hipster bands that nobody really cared about.

    • @tc8066
      @tc8066 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yep, thank god. Pop punk and nu metal was absolutely shiiiiit...and if you were there you'd know these bands were very much cared about, not just by the press. You'll always have stuff like moldy peaches and har mar superstar sneak in the door along with it - but there was a solid 5 or 6 bands (not all new York) that were phenomenal. The strokes / YYY / White stripes / Interpol / kings of Leon / LCD / The hives - saw them all live between 01 and 03 and had the time of my life.

    This documentary mostly annoyed me. The only cool guys were the Strokes. Rest of the people in this “scene” had neurosis and an unhealthy approach. It’s not like these bands are WAY smarter than Oasis. Mostly nonsense and horny BS. Get over it.
