Sometimes, people bump into me or do something that makes them instinctively turn and say my bad. And i just ignore, like. Thats how awkward i am. I think jules understands our problems guys.
I had the opportunity to talk to him when he played at a private event near my city. He is actually that uncomfortable all the time. Altho he talks in a more fluid way to normal people when there are no cameras. A girl jumped the bar and tried to take a selfie and he looked at her and told her: you're not even gonna say hi? Or something. He is just that kind of person, he doesn't like to be treated like he is a star, just a normal guy, in that way he will be more willing to talk to you, he says the most incredible things.
Tiara Hoz that’s true! He’s super nice and actually really easy to talk to if you just treats him like a normal person! When I met him a couple of years ago, he let us on the tourbus cause it was freezing outside and offered us drinks and we just hang out for a while! It was super casual and he’s super nice and appreciative to his fans!

Straight up, when I met Julian in person at the airport, he was the most laid back, friendly dude there is. I think he is just generally a quiet person. It was funny though, like, when he saw how nervous and speechless I was with him, I think he started to open up a bit more to try to calm me down. Probably a skill he has had to utilize quite often I would think.
What does a person even say when they see a famous musician? Like hi, I like your music? Also that is amazing that you met him.

He's not dull!! He just thinks before he speaks and gets straight to the point. He always mentioned how he hates interviews and just prefers his music to do the talking but i think his management pushes him to do this for publicity of his new album. If anything, he is the most talented, bright and smart "celebrity" I've come across. I hate the rock and roll genre but anything with Julian I love because he's so gifted!! Thats how good he is, that people who dont even like genres of rock like his music!

I've seen Julian give great interviews when he's with an interviewer who lets him speak at his own pace and doesn't come on so strongly with so many shenanigans (grabbing his chest right off the bat? trying to put orange slices in his pockets? come on.) Julian is an artist but not a showman...he and James just weren't on the same page this go-round.

Mutualist Julian still drinks every once in a while. Believe it or not, former alcoholics can be comfortable around alcohol, its not like they were forcing him to chug beers lol.
Every alcoholic has a different attitude towards it.
People keep commenting on Julian's demeanor as if he hasn't been awkward for over 15 years. Hell, I cant even remember in recent years if he's been interviewed on national television in front of a live audience before a performance. He's supposedly sober now as well so he's probably extremely fucking nervous and just acting as such. He's' better in small group interviews, in a personable regard. Also, with how aware and political The Voidz are, it's most likely difficult to engage in trivial rapport before performing a song that has a weighted meaning.
The Lalapalooza interview with the studded jacket was the most relaxed he's ever been. I believe it was Lala. I'm not sure but he was smiling and happy to talk

this was such a quaint interview! i dont see the awkwardness/cringiness everybody is commenting about. julian gave james very honest answers. their personalities certainly contrast each other, sure, but julian looks genuinely comfortable with himself here. he does seem to have a quieter personality but it doesn't mean he's not open.

Contrary to all the comments I actually found this whole exchange charming in the most Julian type of way
ok i dont think people realize julian has always been a person that functions NORMALLY. As in , when you vibe with someone you just do , and when you don’t you’re extremely awkward and not very natural. i’ve seen him on great interviews where he just feels a lot more comfortable and in his element. It’s so sad realizing a lot of ppl are used to such robotic musicians or actors in Hollywood that just automatically respond to questions. Julian is a PURE ARTIST. I’ve always respected him bc he’s maintained the ability to still act like a NORMAL person not like a robotized Hollywood star.
