i have small hands and i can say that it just takes practice to get this cut right, its been 2 week i practiced and i can finally do it but extremely slow. Thank you for this tutorial! i can analyze more in what i can do better.
just another tip, keep your elbows more inward then your hand when performing this move so that the standing up packet does not block the movement of the packets behind it.
Thanks Ekat, this really helped! I could never quite get this move. Your description helped a lot, it was the 'jolt' that made everything fall into place instantly!
Another good note is to make sure your hands are facing such a way so people can see what your doing. Sometimes the resting caught packets will block the nice cutting action your doing. Good practice note is to try to pretend to touch your elbows together while doing this cut in both hands. This will show the cutting action more clearly.
I learned it slightly different if you look up "L cuts" one of the first videos is by dealers grip he taught it by putting the packets in the bottom of the thumb on the little crouch by your wrist
hi Ekat i am a beginner to cardistry and i was recently looking at your dvd pure then i saw this video and i'm like this is perfect i want to take my cardistry to the next level and i think this dvd will do that for me thank you
I love this flourish and the ones you taught in the 'one handed cuts you must know' but I don't have the reach to do them without playing 52 pick up... would it be worthwhile using squids to practice?
...for the same purpose... getting muscle memory in the fingers of the packet movement... I can see them being beneficial... I am, in fact, still using regular decks to practice... but I can't help but feel that squids might help me train the reach of my fingers... not so much squids for full flourish practice :)
Oh, I do appreciate those facts... again, just to be clear, I was not asking if they were worthwhile for practicing a new flourish... only for training in finger reach... the idea I had in mind was work on reach, then switch to a normal deck for flourish practice :) Thanks for the input! :)
I thought this move would be hard but you made it simple, thanks so much, hope ive got a chance for winning Pure it looks great, thanks a lot, if not i'll buy it.
I really enjoy your videos and accent. I also like that I commented on a video by Chris Ramsay that you and Asada from 52kards have also recently commented on.
It's going to take some work, but I think I can learn this. I find that if I work on stuff in short but frequent session, it starts to come together over time. Thanks for the great video!
Awesome thanks for sharing, it will be a challenge for me perform these cuts because my fingers are not very long, it would help if you could explain the cuts in more detail, once again thank you!
hello, i m a french juggler and i discover cardistry. i want learn more with your dvd;it's cool to see a woman do cardistry. We do not see many women making that; good job (sorry for my english)
Thank you so much! I'll learn this move imediately! And as always nice tutorial Oh and you are so beautiful in your dvd (i watched the trailer) so i want this dvd because you are so a great teacher!
The thumb on my hands keep interacting with the packet that I break and the pinched packet is hard to keep in control. Any tips? And yes, I'd like the DvD aswell ;)
don't feed the packets together it looks so sloppy.... You can - after your done- spin the packets clipping them with index and thumb and spin them with middle finger to return to mechanics grip in both hands with allows you to do anything..... Also thanks so much i've been trying to do this move since 7-8 months ago but the tip of the waving motion helped so much thank you
Nice, I'm new at this and enjoy watching your tutorials this is hard for me but I'm going to keep trying, i enjoy doing magic I do coins and cards and I hope learning how to flourish the cards will help my magic "thanks
For those who have small thumbs (like me), push the packet deep down your palm. You should be able to grip it around the corner with the thumb as well as break off a packet with your ring. Experiment and find the right position for your hand size.

Thanks Ekat, this really helped! I could never quite get this move. Your description helped a lot, it was the 'jolt' that made everything fall into place instantly!

Hey Katarina your teaching method is awesome, I hope you do more of these.

Thanks for teaching the basic L cuts. The running L cut sequence also looks good when done with crossed hands.

My ring finger is too short to reach the deck 😭😭😭
Just use the bridge card instead of poker card
Let go with your thumb little bit
Every 3 years I get someone replying to this comment with some unhelpful advice that assumes that I'm still trying to do this

Just what I was hoping for after yesterday's video!
I always wanted to learn that flourish, but I couldn't find a tutorial on TH-cam. So thank you!
How did I never know about this move?!? That looks so cool!
I freaking love your tutorials! Thank you, so much!!!
I love this flourish and the ones you taught in the 'one handed cuts you must know' but I don't have the reach to do them without playing 52 pick up... would it be worthwhile using squids to practice?
Makroskizhar Demios Don't. Use normal cards.
Use cards, squids are not for practicing. They are meanr for creating moves.
...for the same purpose... getting muscle memory in the fingers of the packet movement... I can see them being beneficial... I am, in fact, still using regular decks to practice... but I can't help but feel that squids might help me train the reach of my fingers... not so much squids for full flourish practice :)
They might but splitting packets, cards falling off, pressures on each packet, you only understand that with regular cards.
Oh, I do appreciate those facts... again, just to be clear, I was not asking if they were worthwhile for practicing a new flourish... only for training in finger reach... the idea I had in mind was work on reach, then switch to a normal deck for flourish practice :)
Thanks for the input! :)

Hmm, i know that most of your tutorials for cardistry is about basic cuts, but will there be a original flourish for us to learn some day?
I have too short fingers - I literally can't grab cards in the initial stage when they are lying in my hand
Could you do a tutorial on a V-cut. I can`t find the tutorial anywhere..? :)
