Hi, i think your videos are great and you are awesome at what you do. But please, do not say that "even if your hands are too small, you are still able to do this". It is simple physics... If one can't grab a deck of card in one hand without the extra long fingers to manipulate the deck, it is just not gonna work.
Hello, I’d like to reiterate slightly what some others have said. I’ve been a practicing magician for 20 years, and have worked tirelessly on the Charlier and Revolution cut. Not only do I have to modify my one hand cuts significantly, I simply cannot command control of the cards in the same way as someone who has larger hands. I have to use entirely different grips, or utterly change the finger positioning. So yes, practice makes perfect, but I find it entirely disingenuous to think that having larger hands doesn’t make it easier.
Absolute beginner. Spent many hours today trying (while watching lectures online). Can do the Charlier cut 90% of the time, a bastardized version of the revolution cut 40% and one roll of rolling charlier 10% of the time. I am happy with this progress
I haven't even learned any of these but the first cut yet, but the tutorial is not bad. I understand what I need to do, but I just need to build up the muscle memory to do it, and I think that a lot of the people in this comment section don't understand the concept of practicing something to actually be able to do it.
Great tutorials! Thanks😊 Even though you showed the tricks on your left hand (or at least it seemed so) i was easily able to understand how to do it with my right hand. The explanation and the video are a great combo. I looove the smooth camera😍 Great work!
Get good at normal Charlie first. Like, really good to where its hard wired into your brain. Than watch the video in slow motion and slowly follow along while using your other hand for extra help. Than try to do it without your other hand.
Ok so im not crazy. Because i have practiced Charlier, both hands, and have it down pretty well (for a beginner) and Running Charlier.... i just cant grasp. Even having 2nd hand assistance to keep packet together i cant seem to find the room to "drop it down" into my hand. And i KNOW theres room, i have bigger hands. I just.. cant... find out how. Its magic at this point but it looks so simple.
Maybe you’re just stupid gave a great explanation all you have to do now is practice what do you want him to do take your hand and do it with your hand for you are you dumb like that
Thanks a lot, VERY helpful video! I'm newbie but I' managed to learn all of cuts you've shown in this video. At first I thought it's impossible, but after a lot hours of practice I understood I was wrong. So don't give up and you will succeed!
Absolute beginner and, damn, my hands hurt. Great first tutorial to land on though. Screw the guy who says you didn't explain enough. As with anything else: pick it up, practice and you start to know what to look for once you grasp the subtle challenges. Watched this at least ten times looking for the details. My only question would be, is there a "too sore" point? You gotta build muscle with any new skill so I expect some discomfort but should I be worried about long term consequence?
If you feel pain, just put the cards away for two-three days. Then get back to it. You will be surprised how much faster you progress this way. No need to fixate on a single move too much, and remember that for some it takes months and even years to master and being able to smoothly execute a certain move, so make sure the amount of practice you should put in isn't a discouraging factor for you.
>implies the tutorial isn't bad >says he needs to watch the video 10 times or more to grasp the "details", which are supposed to be taught in a tutorial...
@@xSchreiberTVx It's not that this tutorial doesn't describe all the details. It's just we whi couldn't comprehend it at first watch so we rewatch it many times.
Great video, i am currently trying to do the scissor cut. Btw, yoy may want to adjust the sound, i had to keep you turned down when you weren't talking but turn you up when you were!
I can get the basic Charlier cut but having trouble getting my hand to do the Running Charlier. I can’t bring the curled index up far enough for my other fingers to pull the top packet down and under.
When I do the Revolution cut, I have trouble reaching grabbing the packet between my index and ring-finger and the cards on top slide around and fall. Do you have any more tips for this step of the cut?
I modified this cut and use my pinky finger instead of my ring finger. I have to unfortunately balance a bit more, but it’s the only way I’ve been able to effectively do it with my small stubby hands.
for those that can't do the thumb cut with that grip because their fingers aren't long enough, there's another way to do it, and it's holding just like in the straddle grip. just search it up
I'm a big fan of Brian Tudor's flourishes and I've been practicing them since 2009. But he would be ashamed of me if he saw me try to do the one handed revolution. All these years and I still can't do the cut fast. How do you do it? I always get slow around the part where you have the top packet between the index and ring fingers.
c est extraordinaire, c est formidable, je suis bien content d apprendre enfin ces manioulations,,,merci, vous explique bien tres bien...vous etes le meuilleur.........
I can cybil cut i can 5 faces of cybil i can do pharao shuffle i can do pharao fan i can do the werm i can do many harder things than that but i can't do them because they're not for beginners. actually the only one handed things for a beginner are charlier cut maybe the rotation cut and all the variations of swivel cut
Love the video. I hate the way my mind is like, "Fingers, do this." But my fingers out here lookin they got no commands at all. They be flailin everywhere. It's aggravating.
In the revolution cut, how do you manage to get the top packet over your ring finger at the beginning? Whenever I try, it’s just in the way and I can’t get it beneath smoothly
After you split the deck...slide your hand down the side of the pack where your pointer finger is approximately in the middle of the deck. Rotate the top pack to you while simultaneously pushing the bottom pack towards your thumb with the ring finger. Your ring finger will end up in the perfect position to avoid being hit This worked better for me than putting my ring finger in the bottom packet while rotating it towards me like he did in the video. Kind of hard to explain, but I kept experimenting with it. It was harder to do it slow. Getting a rhythm definitely helps
does anyone have advice on how to actually "make" packets, as in moving them as one unit? i finally got the regular charlier down so i can do it without even thinking, but for the running charlier, if i manage to fit any of my index finger into the top packet to split it, the resulting topmost packet often just splits into several cards that slide down my index finger all spread out. i can remedy this sometimes by shaking the whole hand toward the ground to recollect the topmost splay of cards into a single packet, but this is really clunky and not smooth at all, and in this vid it looks like gravity is doing the work of keeping all the cards together. should i be chalking my fingers up to make them really dry or something?
i try to do the tricks and discover that my fingers are to stiff to do most of then, i gonna need a why to fix that before, but thanks for the video it was very useful anyway
Great tutorial. Not very easy, but good explanation with different angles. I'm a beginner and I can do all, except the running charlie. Tricks are not always easy, and take a lot of practise.
I know so many people complain about small hands, and i understand that flexibility and practice matter a lot. But at @7:54 i simply can’t stretch my hand that far. I’m 6 foot with decent sized hands but i just can’t do it anywhere near that well
Biggest struggle for me is for example with the scissor cut and thumb cut. i simply cant reach with my fingers around the deck. also the angle makes it hard to see the details or try to mirror the moves as i am using the right hand. any advice ?
8:40 I don't think I have small hands, but with the cards held in my hand like that I can just barely touch my thumb and middle finger together let alone overlap them or hold the cards with both fingers.
I really dnt get how u can drop the buttom deck for the charlie cut. Once i have my hand that wide oprn i cant lift the top part up with my finger to drop the buttom part
I understand that you can do the cuts with training even if you have small hands but the starting position of thumb cut seems just physically impossible to me if I use standard cards.
On the charlier cut, when I bring the bottom pack over the top there’s always a card or two that get caught and make it difficult to to bring the bottom pack over the top. Is there a way to prevent it or should I use a different deck?
I think it is because the deck is slippery. I'm having the same problem coz' my deck is new. One youtuber said it is better to use used deck when you want to do these kind of tricks, while brand new decks are good for flourishing, I think

Looking at how you do yhe thumb cut, you must have some looooong fingers. My middle finger will not wrap around like that. And i have pretty big hands. Geez

The long fingered guys do have a huge advantage,, there is no doubt about it. but I have super short fingers and was able to get it with my lefty,, so any of you that play guitar might want to try with your left ...
I’m not trying to complain, but I just literally don’t understand how the thumb cut is possible if you don’t have big enough hands, please someone help me understand. I can’t grab one side of the deck with my thumb and middle finger at the same time
It’s not possible if your hands aren’t big enough. I know a good amount of card moves, and I get a bit frustrated when people call the thumb cut a “beginner move.” Sure it is not difficult to learn for a beginner, but some people just can’t do it. I’ve seen plenty of talented cardists who classify their hands as “not big enough for the thumb cut.” It is just a bit annoying since a cut that truly depends on hand size is included in these videos that are “beginner lists.” Makes it seem like no matter how small your hands may be, you should master the thumb cut and all these others before learning harder moves. That’s not true though! You can learn the coolest moves out there without being able to do the thumb cut
ur tutorials are so fuckin' good--i watched another vid of urs where u post comments of peeps bitchin' about ur shit. . .fuckin' laughable, how much better could it get than this? well done sir.
define "basic" and "beginner" level... i mean, charlier and revolution are not too hard, but octupus? or running charlier? really "beginner" level? im not even talking about smoothly doing them nonstop in perfect motion, im talking about getting them done in more then 1 out of 5 times and within less than 20s. this is not beginner stuff...
He is right handed too. When you are right handed you usually start with the packet in dealers grip. So in your left hand. Im begginer and it took me 3 days to master the charlier cut. Bad explanation bad still works if you practice enough
I' m beginner and it took me two days for the octopus cut and my hands are not big
My hands are big enough for everything but the thumb cut
or maybe Im just doing it wrong
ok its not just me...have you learned it in the last week?
my hand is way to small for the scissor cut
