This is exquisite! Your detail to the specific colors are mind boggling. You have had to play with these colors a lot, to get the specific shades you go after. This soap is gorgeous! I love watching your videos! Thank you for sharing! xoxo
+Susan King Hi Susan ~ I do play with the colors a lot, LOL! Even then, they don't always come out like I plan. Not for lack of trying though, eh? :)
Your soap designs are incredibly stunning. I am in awe all the time. I just started soap making and it's so relaxing. Thank you for sharing your work.
Hi Sharon ~ What gracious compliments! Thank you very much. I appreciate you watching the video and taking the time to write such a thoughtful comment. I hope you will enjoy making soap as much as I do. It's been the one genre of art that keeps my interest. Happy soaping! :) ione
So enjoy your videos! I’m a watercolor artist and found myself thinking of my watercolors when you mentioned mixing black to the green and so forth!!
You’re so sweet to share and a true artist , as well! All the best!
Hi Cj ~ It's nice to hear from you! Thank you for your kind words about enjoying the videos. I appreciate it very much. How nice to meet a watercolor artist. That was my hobby before I became a soap maker, and probably why I have so much fun mixing colors, LOL! Please keep in touch and thanks again! :) ione
I knew you were an artist by another medium when you were speaking of mixing the colors! Lol I have my basic soap making supplies stored ,for now....focusing on my watercolor paintings...I’d like to get back into making soap, again. That’s how I stumbled on your channel!
For now, until time permits where I can make soap...I’ll enjoy your videos❤️
All the best and God Bless❣️
I've probably watched 50 or 60 soap making videos over the post few days, hoping that by doing so I won't be so nervous about making my very first batch. This is the first video upon which I've felt compelled to comment... I absolutely love everything about your design.. I'm guessing it smells as wonderful as it looks! Thank you for sharing.. you make the entire process seem so easy. I hope I'm able to approach making my first batch of soap the the same sense of calming joy you so effortlessly convey! Thanks again.
Katherine Ahrens Hi Katherine ~ thank you for watching my video and the sweet comment. I remember feeling very intimidated and a little frightened the first time I made soap. Thank you, Elisabeth ~ I appreciate you watching my videos and the lovely compliments. :) ione eve
Do you have a video on how you mix your colorants? If not you really should consider it. You’ve mastered it! 💖
Hi Elizabeth ~ Thank you for watching my video and your sweet compliment. :) I have not done a color mixing video. I've taken many watercolor painting and art classes and that's where I learned about color theory and mixing colors. It would be hard to teach that in a 20 minute video, LOL! Maybe when I retire from making soap I'll do some tutorial videos.
So Beautiful, Thank you for showing us how you make your amazing soaps...very much appreciated
Hi Crystal ~ I appreciate you watching my video and taking the time to leave such a sweet comment. Thank you!

I love this channel, and it doesn't hurt that in my mind.. This is Betty White making soap for the hell of it. Not my fault that this lovely lady's voice reminds me of her.

Gorgeous!
where did you get those little dropper bottles with the attached topper? Another beautiful soap! Such an artist!
+Patricia Shaffer Hi Patricia ~ thank you for watching and the gracious compliments. I appreciate it. To answer your question, I get the little bottles from the $ Store. I buy a 3 pack "glitter glue" and empty out the glue ~ using the bottles, hehe! :) ione eve
Gorgeous Ione
Love the video. very informative and a beautiful soap. The music was awful though. Maybe it's my laptop speaker but often it sounded like bees buzzing! Not a nice bee either. Again, a beautiful soap. Thanks for sharing.
Hello and thank you for watching my video. I appreciate your lovley compliments too! Sorry about the music. I can see how it would sound "off" toward the end of the score when the guitarist goes a liitle nuts. If I have time, maybe I will re-do the sound track, and take that part out. Thanks again for taking the time to watch and comment. :) ione eve
Absolutely beautiful soap! I have two questions... I was watching your hanger swirl and were you doing "figure 8's"?? It would be GREAT if you could do a video just on hanger swirls WITHOUT any soap in there just to show the technique so we can just see what is going on "under there" :) The other question is the color in the bottles... how do you pre-mix them and do you keep them in those containers in between batches? Thanks so much for your video and to letting us see your techniques!
+Angie D Hi Angie ~ thank you for watching my video and the lovely compliment. To answer your questions, I am doing figure 8's for the hanger swirl. Most of the time I go side to side coming up from the bottom, then up and down going from one side to the other. Sometimes, after that I do circular swirls starting from the middle and increasing in size out to the edges.
The little bottles have extra light olive oil and cosmetic minerals that I get from Brambleberry. I don't know what the ratio is, because I don't do exact measurements - probably around 2.5 parts oil to 1 part powder. I do leave the colors in the bottles, then shake them up before using. It sure saves a lot of time when they're made up ahead. I hope this helps and happy soaping! :) ione eve
Thanks so much for the quick reply and for the help! I will keep watching, learning & making more soap! :))
Keep in mind making that video about hanger swirls without the soap in the mold... there isn't any out there.. I have looked & think it would be VERY instructive for us newbies :)
I just love your soaps and your elegant swirls! Where do you get your oxides and bottles? they seem so much nicer than the messy mica colerants I have
Hi Gina ~ thank you for watching my video and the lovely compliments. The colors I use are powdered, cosmetic-grade minerals from Brambleberry. I mix them with extra-light olive oil. The oxides and colorants shake-up well. They are the ones in the little squirt bottles, and the ratio is 1 part color to 5 parts oil. I mix the colors with a frothier before putting in the squirt bottles.
Mica doesn’t shake-up very good, so I put them in little containers, and stir before using. The ratio for mica is 1 part color to 2 parts oil. I reduce the amount of liquid oil in the recipe according to what I expect to add when coloring, usually around half an ounce. Sometimes, I let the superfat% go higher to cover the extra oil.
I get the little squirt bottles from Dollar Tree. Glitter Glue comes in them, 3 in a package. I empty the glue and wash them. The glue is water-soluble and the bottles are very easy to clean, not to mention cheap, LOL! I hope this helps, and happy soaping!
Beautiful as always .. I only wish I could figure out your hanger swirl !! Mine just doesnt work ~~ I just love all your videos ~~
Carol Bradshaw Hi Carol ~ thank you for watching and the lovely compliment. I''ve found having the soap at medium trace is one key to good hanger swirls. Best wishes in your soap-making endeavors! :) ione eve
Very pretty.
Suds 'n Satin Thank you for watching and the sweet comment. :) ione eve
Hi Ione, How on earth do you get your soap batter (if you will) to stay so thin for so long. I hardly even blend that much and my batter is so thick so fast. Made a batch of Oatmeal, milk and honey with raw honey and it flopped!!!!! When I took the towel off.......OMG, the oil that was sitting on top of the soap and the soap was sunken down, no longer to the top of the mold. I used gold mica, td and cocoa colors....they were awesome and it looked great so imagine my face when I saw all the oil floating.....I was sooooo bummed. I need to rub elbows with you so that all my soaps end up as nice as yours. I love, love, love watching your videos. Yes, I am addicted to them. You are such an inspiration to watch and shows me that with persistence, I too one day will be able to make soaps as nice as yours.....and that's someday, not anytime soon. I have a loooooong way to go. Keep the videos coming!!!!! Happy soaping!!!! :)
Hi Lisa ~ Please accept my apology for not replying sooner. I just saw your comment today and feel bad that It's been so long. I hope the last couple years have given you some amazing soaps, and you can probably figure out what went wrong with the Oatmeal Milk and Honey batch you describe here. The thing that helps the batter stay thin for me is not allowing it to trace before pouring into color containers. Also, I use a lot of fragrances that loosen the batter, and that helps. Now, sometimes I need to wait for it to thicken up a bit before molding, LOL! I still have the "off" batch that thickens quickly too, so you are not alone in that. Thank you for responding to my video and happy soaping! :) ione eve
So pretty
love the video.. although hate to say the music is creepy..lol.. had to mute it.. but love your swirls.. you are just magnificent.. i try to find your stuff during every educational time i give myself with videos.i must watch at least one or more of you.. and make notes. i find your swirls.. to be unique and just wow... love your soaps.colors patterns everything.
Hi Lori ~ thank you for watching my videos, and taking the time to leave such nice compliments. Sorry you didn't like the music on this one. It's a challenge to find good tunes, LOL! :) ione eve
We all have such different taste in music and unfortunately for me, it can be very distracting. Have you thought of leave the tunes out. I personally think that ANY video where music is played, takes away from the lesson. Your soaps are absolutely beautiful. Love you color combinations. How many pounds do your recipes make.
Hi Theresa ~ thanks for watching my videos, and the nice compliments. I think I will delete this video until I can redo the music. The ones I've been working on recently still have music, but the volume is very low. To answer your question ~ my standard recipe makes 3 lbs, and the larger batch is a little over 5 lbs. I have also done experimental soaps with all sorts of sizes, LOL! :) ione eve
I love your soaps very very much! I have a question? About inside the mold, do you circle the tool, or just go straight?
Thank you for watching my video and your sweet compliment. To answer your question, I do figure 8's with the tool and then a graduating circle too. I hope this helps and happy soaping! :) ione
I truly appreciate your answer!
Beautiful soaps. Do you mix your mica and pigments to use as needed? If so what do you mix with? Oil/alcohol/water? Is there a specific ratio you use? I am new to soaping. Trying to get a handle on all these tips and tricks of the trade. Tytyty
Hi Durinda ~ Please forgive my late reply. I just found many comments in a list without notifications sent. MY BAD! To answer your question about colorants, all soap makers do it differently. I use cosmetic-grade minerals for coloring and mix them ahead of time with extra-light olive oil. The ratio is 1part color/5 parts oil for colorants, 1 part color/3 parts oil for mica. Mica does not shake up, so I put them in containers and stir before using. I hope this information helps and happy soaping!
:) ione
Love it, is beautiful😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you, Joselin! I appreciate you watching my video and your lovely comment. :) ione
Amazing! Please tell me the hanger movement diagram
Thank you for watching my video and your nice compliment. :) To answer your question, I moved the hanger in figure 8's going side to side starting at the bottom and coming up. Then, I moved the hanger in figure 8's from going up and down starting at 1 side and going to the other. The last movement was putting the hanger in the middle and moving in graduating circles from the center outward to the sides. I hope this information helps and happy soaping!
@@EvesGardenSoaps Thank you very much!!!!
@@Малати-у5г You're very welcome!
Hi,
And many thanks for the upload of a very interesting and pretty new type of thing which is the soap making.
Can you tell me do you mix the colours to the essential oils before starting, And being ignorant about this procedure, can you tell me if you have to use special ‘soap’ colours or is it food colouring?
mrbluenun Hello and thank you for watching my video. To answer your questions, I use soap-making mineral colorants and mica that come in powder form, then mix them with extra light olive oil before using. If you're interested in findiing out more about making soap, I recommend watching Cathy McGinnis at Soaping 101 and Anne Marie of Soap Queen TV. They do excellent tutorials for beginners and have recipes to use. I'll leave links for you.

EvesGardenSoaps Hi,
And many thanks for your advice and help.
Thank you for teaching us!
Hi Bozena ~ I apprecaite you watching my video and the sweet comment. I don't really consider myself a teacher. I enjoy sharing a hobby that I love with other people though, LOL! :) ione eve
Gorgeous
Thank you, Sylvia! I appreciate you watching my video and your lovely comment. :) ione eve
Why do you put the soap in the fridge if it heats up? On your videos would you be able to say where you get the colours, scents , etc please if you want to that is lol thank you! I love how your soaps look! I'm just starting out and I only made 2 batches of plain soap so far...I want to practice using the colours. There are different types of colour powders and liquids to buy out there..I don't know the difference between Mica and Cosmetic grade powder..Is the one you're using better and safer? Sorry for all the questions lol..I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos!
Hi, and please accept my apology for not responding sooner. Somehow your comment was directed to a place for "approval", but I didn't receive a notice about it. I just got a notice for "approving" a new comment, then saw yours. I'm very sorry.
I don't mind your questions at all. I love to talk about soap, LOL! I buy colors from Brambleberry.com. Cosmetic-grade minerals and mica are the best for cold process soap (and for skin care). I mix them with extra light olive oil ahead of time. I've also bought liquid colors for melt & pour soap base, but don't use them very often. Mica is iridescent, and the color it makes is usually not vivid. Powdered mineral colorants and oxides are very vibrant colors. I use them the most, then add some mica if I want a "sheen" in the design. Mica can also be used for divider lines between layers, and beautiful accent swirls on top of soap.
When using color in a soap design, the tint of the oils and fragrance in the recipe makes a big difference. They can have strong yellow, orange and green tints. Knowledge of how colors are mixed is valuable. For instance, if you want to have a vibrant purple in your soap, oils and fragrance that are tinted yellow or orange will turn the purple to gray. When designing soap, I use colors that will work with the oils and fragrance I'm using. I've learned this the hard way sometimes. (Watch "Failed Sparkly Day, LOL!) I hope this information helps, and happy soaping! :) ione eve
I have watched and watched your hanger swirl method in hopes of "getting it" but sad to say I haven't been able to .. I was wondering if, for all us unfortunate soapers like me, if you might some day post a video showing the moves of the hanger without the batter in the mold. I know that is asking l lot and it might be your own trade secret. However, I just had to ask ~
Carol Bradshaw Hi Carol ~ thank you for watching and commenting. To answer your question, I think if you watch my video "Making Lovely Lavender" and start at 14:25 - it explains how I move the hanger through the soap. I usually do it this way, although I change it up sometimes, LOL! I hope this helps. Happy soaping! :) ione eve
I know You have said you do a figure 8 before but do you have a set pattern? I have really been trying to follow your hands and hanger when you do your swirls but when I do it mine turn out to me a solid mess, lol ~~
Carol Bradshaw Send me a "Contact" through my website so I can reply to you with some drawings. That may be a bigger help to you.

Beautiful 😍
Beautiful
Thank you, Terry!
Hi! I am watching your videos and I am noticing that you put your colors into a oil... (I am a beginner), that doesn't affect the quantity of oil vs lye you use? Thank you :D, BTW your soaps are AMAZING!
Hi Christine ~ thank you for watching my videos. To answer your question, the oil in the colors will affect the calculation of lye for the recipe. When using a lot of TD and/or colors, I figure the added oil in a couple ways. 1. Discount the amount of olive oil about .5 ounce. 2. Allow a higher superfat percent. Dairy additions are treated the same way, because of the extra milk fat. I hope this helps, and happy soaping! :) ione eve
Thank you :D
I have two questions do u have to put lye in soap and how does the help?
+swaggy girl Hi Swaggy Girl ~ I answered your questions on the "Sand and Sea" video. :) ione eve
Quelle beauté !!!!
Hey! I just wanted to know what exactly are you using for your colors?
Daniel Styles Hi Daniel ~ thank you for watching and commenting on my video. To answer your question, I get cosmetic grade powdered minerals/mica (mostly from Bambleberry) and mix them with extra light olive oil before using. While I don't measure exactly it's around 1t color to 1T oil. I hope this helps and happy soaping! :) ione eve
Beautiful!!:)

Hi What do you line your mold with? is it paper or something else? Thanks :D Also beautiful soaps. I love them :D
+Amanda Hay Hi Amanda ~ thank you for watching my video and the lovely comment. To answer your question, the mold lining in this video is one I made from a flexible cutting board. They are easy to use, but require the soap to be frozen for unmolding. I also use freezer paper sometimes. If you are interested in seeing how I make the mold liners, I'll leave a link for you. Happy soaping! :) ione eve
th-cam.com/video/8c8Ec1mIIXQ/w-d-xo.html
What kind a paper is your used for your mold. ?
I appreciate you watching my video, Edith! To answer your question, I used freezer paper for lining the mold. Happy soaping! :) ione eve
Which product is the one that gives color ?
yaya new video
What do you line the mold with?
Hi Sherry ~ In this video the mold was lined with a cutting-board liner that I made. I also use freezer paper, and more recently, mylar liners that I make. :) ione eve
Hi, am brand new at this (Making soap the week after Thanksgiving).. Where do you get the colors?
Also, the oils are so expensive at the grocery store....
+beth shadowen Hi Beth ~ thank you for watching my video. Welcome to the great adventure of making soap. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as me. To answer your question, I use cosmetic grade powder minerals from Brambleberry.com. You are right about many of the oils being expensive. Now, I sell some of the soaps I make to support my hobby. If you're just starting out, very nice soap can be made from lard and canola oils. Best of luck to you! :) ione eve
Thank you for being so sweet and helping me. My sister and I are going to make soap, really for a fun hobby that we can do! We are just now purchasing all the equipment, and getting ready to start. I LOVE your videos, I appreciate how thoughtful you are of camera angels, etc. I am learning a lot from you, and I want to thank you!!
ps the soap above (Garden mint soap) is so beautiful!!! Do you mind if we try that once we graduate to making special soap? We would not want to steal from you, but would like to try it.:)
+beth shadowen Hi Beth ~ I appreciate your thoughtful comments. It's always a pleasure to connect with other soap-makers.! I share design techniques, hoping to inspire the creative spirit for viewers. I'm happy to hear you would like to make something similar. It's not stealing if you use your own recipe. With a design of this type, no 2 soaps come out identical anyway. Good luck to you and your sister in your soap-making endeavors! :) ione eve
:) Think happy thoughts. We bought a bunch of stuff, now waiting for Thanksgiving to be behind us so we can start. We are scared of splashing lye in our eyes, but we bought all the protective gear...now working up the nerve. I wanted to be sure we could do something sort of like you. We probably won't even color our first batch. Just the basics, plus a scent.
I meant how does lye help on second question
for some reason I can't reply.... thanks so much that helps alot!
You are very welcome. :)
Lindo pretty pretty 😍😄
What brand of liquid colors do you use?
Hi Denise ~ Thank you for watching my video and your interest in the colors used. I get asked a lot about this and wrote up a little explanation. I hope it helps answer your question. :) ione eve
The colors I use are powdered, cosmetic-grade minerals from Brambleberry. I mix them with extra-light olive oil. Oxides and colorants shake-up well, they are the ones in the little squirt bottles. The ratio is 1 part color to 5 parts oil. I mix the colors with a frothier before putting in the squirt bottles, and shake them before using.
Mica doesn’t shake-up very good, so I put them in little containers, and stir before using. The ratio for mica is 1 part color to 3 parts oil. I reduce the amount of liquid oil in the recipe according to what I expect to add when coloring. Or, sometimes use it to increase the superfat percent.
Thank you!
Hi Denise ~ I thought I would let you know that when I researched getting some water-soluable titanium dioxide at TKB Trading, I noticed they sell liquid colors there. You may want to check it out. Here is a link:
tkbtrading.com/
Thank you! I've tried making soap a few times but the recipes I've used off line just don't seem to work as nicely as yours...I have lard, coconut oil and olive oil...I'd like a mix that will fill 2 of the same molds you use...do you have a better formula for the ingrediants I have on hand?
Hi Denise ~ Please send me an email with your request? I'd be happy to help. :) ione

belo trabalho
I don't like the color combination but your soap does look creamy
Beautiful! Love the colors! The music was a bit off putting, though. I love your sweet voice but the music was hard to bear.
+Sarah Morgan Hi Sarah ~ thanks for watching and the lovely compliments. I need to review this video. I can't remember what music I used, but will take your advice for future ones. :) ione eve
Thank you, dear. Will keep watching your lovely videos no matter what music you play :)
Wow 😍😍😍
I love your work, very beautiful, but the music was very distracting.
Hi Laura ~ Thank you for watching my video and your lovely compliment. I should go back and redo some of these old videos. I watched another one the other day and the music was terrible! ;) ione
Do you sell n Etsy?
Sweet heart I use one time metal colander and the lye broke my colander 😂
Hi Edith ~ Thank you for watching my video! I'm sorry to hear about your colander. :(
СУПЕР!!!!!
Need to lose the music.
