I have a Rieju 300 Pro which feels great on the technical single track I ride. I love riding my friends Rieju ranger though. Such a hidden gem of a bike. IT’s far superior than the x trainer in my eyes. I hate the suspension on the x trainer with a passion beyond 2nd gear. They get poor fuel economy, and are too small IMO
I bought the 2023 xtrainer and really like it. Now it has the perfect amount of power on a smaller tighter frame. 100% recommend giving it a try.
Just a small note here; if you ride hard or extreme enduro, the Gnarly FMF pipe would be a far better choice for low down torque and throttle response low down. Pair that with an open air filter cage from a Beta 200, and slightly bigger jetting, and it’s an absolute hard enduro weapon!

I couldn't believe how much more power & handling performance i ended up getting from simple improvements like adding the fatty pipe and tubeliss tires with lower pressure. The braces also gave me addedncomfort and support in the early recovery rides. I don't ride without them, well except when two up tarmac touring with my wife.
I started riding on 200 enduros in the 80's- XR200r and IT200. Fast forward my son has an old IT200 which we rebuilt and I still love. I got a new yz250x but I keep looking at these Betas... 200 or X trainer is my debate... I just love that 200cc displacement but I'd like to try the Xtrainer!
Both good choices, I'd base it on your riding style, the 200rr definitely likes to be ridden more aggressively while you can just lug around all day on the XTrainer. I do feel like the handling is better on the XTrainer. I'll have a video out on the Beta 200rr race edition in the next few weeks.
There is also the XTrainer 250 if your in Canada, I would like to see its potential vs 200rr/XT300. Been pretty happy with my 18XT but it is fun to switch it up.
I was riding a rebuilt IT200 and had for several years been looking for a modern bike to trail ride, when up popped the Xtrainer in 2015. Saw a pic, read the spec’s, called California and tracked down one…… Trust me you have everything to gain except that nice plush seat that comes with the IT and KDX’s of that era
Inn my opinion the Xtrainer is the easiest big bike to ride. Very safe secure feeling. My wife has one. The only down side of the XT is when riding fast whooped terrain. (Stock form) amazing bike for sure
I rode a 2016 model xtrainer and l liked the torque but the forks really were crap; the faster you went the more they became deflective and harsh. Power wise it felt like a super torquey 200 and was fun, but suspension wise it always felt lacking. The Nissin brakes were not as refined as Brembos but more than adequate for the intended speeds the xtrainer was designed for. Seems I need to try a 2023 xtrainer sometime

Sorry Yamaha but you missed the boat about 8 years ago! Unbelievable!
I have the KYB / Ohlins setup. A note on the Xtrainer KYB forks. Beta purchased the forks from KYB and shortened them in house, but when they replaced the oil, they were replacing it with the original volume in a shortened fork. Excessive oil in a fork tube will create a stiff harshness, which is what you make have experienced Greg?
Rode the xtrainer. Thought it hesitated and was too soft on initial throttle and the suspension is quite treacherous at speed. It also felt clunky and uncomfortable between the legs. But some people love them.
I’ve never heard that from many people that have a true ride on my Xtrainer, matter of fact quit the opposite that it’s the better feeling between your legs! Different strokes for Different folks I guess! RIDE ON

I think it's fine for the faster trails occasionally, but if that's what you ride more often maybe a 4T or a regular 300 2T is a better choice, this bike is best in slow technical terrain.
@@PNWEnduro thanks man. I want something that's pretty stool resistant and has good torque like the 300 2-stroke but also the suspension to handle when it gets a little faster. Obviously there's no perfect biking whatever you get it's going to need some tweaking the lower seat height is nice being as I am so short
You can custom order the XTrainer with KYB forks and Ohlins shock. It would be much better in the faster stuff with that setup and still probably end up costing the same as any other 300 2T. The lower seat height is a plus and it also handles better than the other bikes Beta sells IMO.
I have been hunting the KDX200 replacement for years, I am now a pretty slow C class rider though in the past (1990's) I rode A/B *injuries took out my need for speed lol. Would the xtrainer fill that KDX void that no matter how close I get with my YZ250 I just can't nail it or would a Reiju Ranger 300 be closer to the mark?
I'm not familiar with the Reiju Ranger, there are no Reiju dealers in Canada as far as I know. The XTrainer is great but I'm not sure it's very similar to the KDX. Closer than the YZ250 though for sure.
How do you think this bike compares to a KTM XCW/husky TE 150 tpi for a beginner rider? Im torn between Xtrainer 250 or a 150tpi bike, right now there are specials in the KTM/Husky and all bikes are around the same price.
I did like the 150xcw tpi but this bike is better for beginner riders imo. Lots of torque but a more tame power. Less shifting than a 150 and lower seat height. The tpi era bikes have a lot of problems with sensors failing so I’d stay away from them for that reason.
Not too powerful, it's easier to ride than the 200rr. This is one of the best beginner bikes IMO. The stock pipe on the XTrainer is made to give it a more tame power. If you wanted more power later on you could put the 300rr pipe on.
Good to know. Thanks! Also, from my research, the stock shocks are bad and ppl would have to upgrade to a good kyb down the road so in this case, getting the 200RR race edition that comes with the kyb justify the price? Im between the 200rr and the xtrainer. Or an used 2013 ktm 200 xcw
You can custom order the XTrainer with KYB or have a tuner upgrade the stock forks. The 200rr will come with KYB but they are valved quite stiff so you’d likely need to have them revalved.

Suspension is good for mountain single track and like 1st thru 3rd gear trails. Anything really fast you’ll blow thru the stroke. Just depends on what your doing with it.

@@midgetmoney1 just out of curiosity what do you weigh, and how did you have it setup. Mining HS , enduro ? The bike I have now is setup for HS and work good out on the trails, a little more flowing and faster the what this is.
@@KB3AOL yeah exactly. 1st thru 3rd gear mountain single track with a lot of gnar it’s perfect. Especially for a 150-155 pound rider. Of course it’s not gonna handle wide open flow. Wasn’t intended for that. For hard enduro and slower stuff it’s fine.
@@KB3AOL Actually, totally the opposite. We ride super gnarly, slow, tech trails only, no high speed. The problem with the suspension is the spring and valving. On very steep, slow, technical decents, the brake dive is so bad it's outright scarry. The deflection is also very bad. The stock spring it too long and is compressed even at a no compression setting. AMP puts in the correct sized and weighted spring and matches the rebound in the valving. The suspension does suck. Maybe not for everyone but that is the consensus. Luckily, there is a fix.
Not a bad bike I had one the only way I would buy another one as if they ever quiet that rattling clutch basket down that thing sounds like it's got a bucket of bolts twirling around and still has a carburetor for 23 that's a big No-No for me

Doctor at urgent care and follow up as well as physio said if it was not for the braces I would have been having surgery and been off the bike for at least a year.
It’s like a potato chip! Hard to have just one
Love my xtrainer. Enjoy riding so much more than I did before.
Out of interest what camera and settings are you running ?
GoPro Hero 11 Black 4K 60fps superview.
Inn my opinion the Xtrainer is the easiest big bike to ride. Very safe secure feeling. My wife has one. The only down side of the XT is when riding fast whooped terrain. (Stock form) amazing bike for sure
Nice. Love to hear your 200rr thoughts for those types of trails
I will have a video out on the 200rr race edition in the next few weeks. One of the trails I got to take the 200 out on was really cool as well.
I have a 250 2018 and every time i have to help somebody that has an xtrainer i am always surprised how easy they are to ride
Beta does free Demo Days at dealers across the country from late Fall to mid Summer every year.
Just took my new Beta 300RR out on its maiden voyage. I have to say I’m pretty smitten with this new Italian darling. After four WR 450’s in the last seven years I have to say I’m in love! Sorry big blue, but there’s a new girl in town…and she wears red!
Regarding the xtrainer. Does it now come stock with KYB and Ohlins?! If so, amazing! Way to go Beta! Sorry Yamaha but you missed the boat about 8 years ago! Unbelievable!
The 2nd XTrainer, Beat Canada calls the "extreme" XTrainer is one they made a custom set up on. You can't purchase one like that.
You can order the KYB separately. It is a shorter version than the ones on the Yamaha, made specially for the lower Xtrainer !
@Shawn Wazzy possibly, not sure how Beta had these forks setup.
@@TheDirtyBirchTrails That add a lot to the cost doesn’t it , like in the thousands?
Rode the xtrainer. Thought it hesitated and was too soft on initial throttle and the suspension is quite treacherous at speed. It also felt clunky and uncomfortable between the legs. But some people love them.
I’ve never heard that from many people that have a true ride on my Xtrainer, matter of fact quit the opposite that it’s the better feeling between your legs! Different strokes for Different folks I guess! RIDE ON
One of my friends friends has a 21 he like it and he’s a fast rider
I’d like to see how the Rieju Ranger models compares to the Beta. Those bikes are made for my skill lever and bike ambitions.
Cross Training Enduro has a review on them. I would say it is more like a detuned RR, essentially the same dimensions. The XT is lower, lighter, narrower.
@@rayheppner8391 Beta Xtrainer rips , I am Advanced Rider just sold my 2021 Beta Race Edition 300 and fill more in control with the 2022 Beta Xtrainer 300 been riding for 40+ years and highly recommend it ! RIDE ON
@@rayheppner8391 and better by FAR
Does it still have 46mm forks? I had a 2019 and the only issue I ever had was, after the suspension was sorted out, I could over ride the forks to the point it was dangerous for me.
Did you take some compression out. Or maybe add stiffer springs?
@@jonathoncatterson8901 No, I sent the suspension to a place called AMP, in Montana. He specializesin the X Trainer suspension. The suspension waas so good, I began to over ride the forks. ended up trading it in for a 300RRR RE.
Nice beta vid
How did you get kyb forks?
how was it on the open fire roads? some say its not good over 3rd gear. i'm looking into one of these but with mixed riding including open trails i dont want to get a 1 trick pony. Currently on a crf250f
Looks like you came to the Island
Does it have any over rev?
I have been hunting the KDX200 replacement for years, I am now a pretty slow C class rider though in the past (1990's) I rode A/B *injuries took out my need for speed lol. Would the xtrainer fill that KDX void that no matter how close I get with my YZ250 I just can't nail it or would a Reiju Ranger 300 be closer to the mark?
I'm not familiar with the Reiju Ranger, there are no Reiju dealers in Canada as far as I know. The XTrainer is great but I'm not sure it's very similar to the KDX. Closer than the YZ250 though for sure.
May I ask how tall you are, as you mentioned the bike fitting you well. Thanks.
I'm 5'7".
Love my XT. Suspension is the biggest downfall but there’s fixes for that.
Like what ? Suffer springs?
Yes
How do you think this bike compares to a KTM XCW/husky TE 150 tpi for a beginner rider? Im torn between Xtrainer 250 or a 150tpi bike, right now there are specials in the KTM/Husky and all bikes are around the same price.
I did like the 150xcw tpi but this bike is better for beginner riders imo. Lots of torque but a more tame power. Less shifting than a 150 and lower seat height. The tpi era bikes have a lot of problems with sensors failing so I’d stay away from them for that reason.
@@PNWEnduro couldn’t agree more ! RIDE ON
@@PNWEnduro How do you find the suspension on the xtrainer compared to the ktm/husky 150?
I'd like to get this bike for my daughter, I got her a KLX 230 and am pretty disappointed.
this xtrainer 300cc too powerful for a beginner? I'm thinking in getting a 200RR but I short(5'6) so I think the Xtrainer would be the best choice.
Good to know. Thanks for letting me know this.
With a smart carb perhaps Greg? That's how mine is set up.
These ones had the stock carbs on them.
I have a 201 with a Smartcarb and kept the OI - combined with a Rekluse RadiusX clutch it goes anywhere!
Tried the smart carburetor and chuckled it after a while went back to stock carburetor all around better
@@racerunnermx hey Race Runner, do you mind if i ask you for some detail? thanks man, one of my buddies has the xtrainer 300, he runs a smart carb and so far likes it but he's only tried it out a few times. if you don't mind me asking, what was it you didn't like about it? i've gotta admit - i've heard of em but never tried one or know anyone else that has one. thanks heaps-) barbie
@@8barbies779 tried two different measuring rods just didn’t feel as snappy as the stock carburetor! Ran to rich and actually got worse mileage had a shop try dialing it in but still wasn’t happy with it after two weeks and 6 rides later I went back to stock and I am happy with my decision! Doesn’t mean that they are bad just not for me! They’re bulky too! RIDE ON
Can you get them with kyb?
No, you would have to buy separate.
Only thing wrong with the X trainer is the cheaped out stock suspension. Fix that and the bike is competitive in any kind of enduro event.... Period.
My grandson has done that and earned gold medals with an X trainer at Idaho City 100 events and ISDE Qualifers.
A guy i ride with bought his son one of these, a 21 or 22, it's a good beginner bike but he said the suspension was no good
Suspension is good for mountain single track and like 1st thru 3rd gear trails. Anything really fast you’ll blow thru the stroke. Just depends on what your doing with it.
I have one. It's great for the hard stuff but the suspension truly sucks. I had mine re sprung and re valved by AMP and now the whole package is awesome.
Not a bad bike I had one the only way I would buy another one as if they ever quiet that rattling clutch basket down that thing sounds like it's got a bucket of bolts twirling around and still has a carburetor for 23 that's a big No-No for me
The DDS clutch in the new 300rr was good, hopefully they put it in the XTrainer as well. I do know Beta plans to stay with carbs for as long as they can.
That’s why I love the carburetor over TPI fuel injection sucks still can’t trust it. Your skewed if electric problem or bad battery. Nothing like mechanical ⚙️! RIDE ON
Well, I had xtrainer 2020 for one year it was amazing bike for enduro but I didn’t like it on fast tracks.
Yeah, they aren't really designed for race pace but they are amazing in technical terrain.
Change the name to Beta X and I'd be interested - not sure I want a trainer 😅
It's pronounced cross trainer according to Beta if that makes you feel any better! lol.
