Love the speech at the end. I always say, true equal rights does not dictate tearing anyone down. People who truly want equal rights don't want to tear down those who have more rights, they just want to build up their own rights.

Loved today's bit at the end. I totally agree; feminism is used as an insult, a pejorative term, and everyone should be aware that we need to change the perception so that everyone understands what it is; equal rights. Thank you for posting this xx

I laughed at the struggle with the bike. I thought, “Please don’t let her hurt herself!” 😂 I would do that victory dance, too, girl! I agree with others below. I’m going to miss your 30-day declutter challenge vids. I know it takes a lot of time and effort to make them, but I feel like we’ve gotten to know you a bit better, by seeing how you declutter and hearing your stories. Blessings! 💖

Cass you just gave the perfect description of a feminist I have heard in a long time and I am a 67 yr old feminist of the 60's-70's ! Yep it's a simple as that! :) With my utmost respect I say "Thank You"
! Love your posts .. you have helped me with my home as well as encouraged me to be a better person on a daily basis :) Love that you aren't afraid of being real and honest with us about your life .

Thanks for the information about feminism Cass. I like how you approached that topic and I love how you don’t put down your husband and men down in general. I have a big problem when us women think it’s OK to say “ugh, men!” (And proceed to say negative things about men). It’s important that women get respect in society but it’s also important for us to give respect to men and treat both genders with respect. I guess I feel the need to mention this because I see so much man bashing in our culture lately.

I agree! I hate the comedy shows where the wife is a beautiful woman married to the schluppy guy, WHO HOLDS DOWN THE JOB TO SUPPORT THE FAMILY, and the show is about how he messed up and the wife gets mad, fixes it and forgives him! Anyway I want to be treated equally also, but no man bashing.

    • @lissac67
      @lissac67 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Agree! Everyone should be equal. No bashing of one more than the other. If someone deserves bashing, that isn't gender specific for sure. Anyone can be a jerk.

I absolutely LOVE how honest u r! The mind boggles when u realise that a lot of laws about all people being equal aren't that old and unfortunately a lot of people around the world still aren't "equal" (sex, religion, race, etc, etc) We as humans r so smart and have come so far but we r also incredibly stupid too.

Ah, the garage, my nemesis. We have a huge 2 car garage. It houses 3 cars (yes, 3 cars in a 2 car garage), a fridge, two deep freezers, a safe, and all the crap that comes with owning a home. My husband struggles with organization of the garage because he's 1) ADD and 2) is afraid to throw things out. We spent 15 minutes gathering trash from the garage yesterday. Then we came inside and made a plan for organization and ordered garage cabinets. In a week we will take everything out, stain the garage floor, install a wall of cabinet organization and only put things in the garage that have a HOME. HALLELUJAH!

    a) You're bike lifting skills and the fact that you danced after doing the hard thing, totally made my day. I need to do victory dances more often with how happy this made me. :)
    b) I'm a female engineer, and have been told by feminists that I am not one because I'm not the crazy dress like a you-know-what feminist. But I am one just like you are one. I love math and physics, so I'm an engineer. There's something about letting men and women balance each other out that makes the world a more beautiful place. On average, our senior capstone projects had about 1 woman per group. The ones who didn't have a woman had lesser presentations. I'm sure if there were all female groups there would have been a similar statement. Men and women balance each other out, and as I was working as the only woman in a room of 12 men, I was constantly complimented for how much more people could expect of the whole room. I was young and newlywed, and an engineer, so no fashion/beauty sense, and I only worked 10-12 hours a week. Balance between genders and listening to each other goes a very long way. Thankfully my husband is the same kind of feminist. Heck, he even takes the baby at night when he knows I need more sleep!

Thank you for your message the end! It's true that a lot of people these days do not even know what feminism is. It's great that you took this step to educate your viewers. To all those who still oppose feminism, I urge you to google some recent articles on the topic. You'll see that the message is for women to be able to do what they want and have equal rights to men. SAHM's are supported--it's their choice to be a homemaker. However, feminism is needed here in the West (obviously there are completely different issues elsewhere in the world) to combat things like unequal pay, unfair and unrealistic body standards, and to help make the workplace more welcoming to mothers (maternity leave, etc) so they can work if they want to.

  • @margenek

Your end of the video was sooooooo good today. I wish I could share just that part with my FB friends, etc. I did not know feminism had such a short and to the point definition. I think most of us have distanced ourselves from 'feminism' because of the recent totally off the wall marches and women saying such off the wall stupid stuff. I am a feminist in the true definition sense. That you for sharing your thoughts!

Not to mention sexual harassment in the workplace. It’s not just popular actresses, it’s the 16 year old girl at McDonald’s or anywhere who is learning how to be successful in a career. It is finally coming into the light. Yes, I for one pray to God we are all for equality in all aspects of daily life. For women and men.

I teach a unit on Feminism in my 11th grade English class. Many students thought it was a "bad thing" to be a feminist. It's always eye-opening. We cover a few American authors, like Kate Chopin ("Story of an Hour"), and Charlotte Perkins Gillman ("The Yellow Wallpaper"). You should read those two short stories. These women, among others, were ahead of their time.

Thank you! I love it. I also love your story time. I am not sure how that could be offensive, it shouldn't be. It likely is to some, but that is their problem. Not yours or ours. Equal rights for everyone. Should not be an odd concept. :) I also think it has a bad ring to it because we had to fight so hard to get to this point so may be thought as extreme. But change is coming, even if slower than we would like sometimes.

One day my husband and I went to auto zone in the US. We needed windshield wipers. My husband was teaching me how to put them on so that I could do it if I ever needed to. A man working at auto zone came out and said "Awww ain't that cute shes learning." I could not believe him and neither could my husband. My husband recently told me he gets paid more at his job than the women there. He did not believe women got paid less til then. Its crazy!

An excellent fact you’ve shared and very well explained.
I agree. And thanks to the feminist movement, I served 22 years in the U.S. Air Force as a flight medic.
There is a movie named “Ironed Jawed Angels” ...starring Hilary Swank... it is about getting the womens’ right to vote in the US.
You might wanna Check it out
    And great purges, WHOOHOO!

HAPPILY EVER AFTER ENTERPRISES. Thank you so much for your service!! My mom turned 99 yesterday. It blows my mind to think she was born before women had the right to vote!!

It's really disgusting that the idea of equal rights is so terrifying to some people. I firmly believe that fear is the reason behind why the bra-burning, rampaging man-hater has become the first thing people think of when they think of feminism. The idea of judging people based on their abilities rather than their genitals is not and never will be a scary thing. Those who benefited from inequality had to MAKE feminism scary to keep people from realizing that it's common sense.
...also, your bicycle struggle made me giggle because I frequently do the same thing. I'm tall but otherwise tiny and I HATE asking people to do 'manly' things for me. "I did it, I did it by myself!" ♡

Jena Brown YES - I 100% agree! It's really important to think about who benefits when "feminism" and "feminists" are disparaged as crazy and bad.

I rather ask for help from someone who has a body that is better fit to do the job than try and hurt myself in the process. There are too many other things I do on my own and I am proud of. I do not mind asking for help for those things :)

Twin Mommy That's the thing: if they're against special treatment for one group over another, they're not truly anti-feminist. Feminism isn't about special treatment. It's about equality for EVERYONE. Men, women, people who don't conform to a traditional gender- everyone. So those people who claim to hate feminism because it puts women on a pedestal are actually wanting the same thing that a real feminist wants. :) I'll give you that some people use feminism as an excuse to claim that women are better than men- but those people don't understand what it means any more than the people who think we're all bra-burners. (And while it's important to acknowledge how our choices affect us, not everything is controlled by our own choices. Sometimes things happen that we don't have control over.)

Thank you Soooooo Much for explaining the definition of Feminists!
It has a derogatory connotation because a lot of men did not want to allow woman the powers and rights that were allowed to them.
Look up Equal Rights Amendment and I think you will be shocked what that actually is and the fact that it still hasn’t been passed in a lot of places...
And thanks again for educating more people 😊

I agree with you on Feminism 100%! If you haven’t seen Emma Watson’s speech on feminism, you should check it out. I gained a whole new level of respect for her after that. I hate when I tell people I consider myself a feminist (I am a conservative Christian for the most part) and people give me weird looks. I think they jumped to the assumption that we think women are better than men or that we hate men. Couldn’t be further from the truth for me. I love and appreciate life, and they want equal rights for me and my five daughters.
