The biggest cleaning hack for me is to declutter. If there is less stuff it's so much easier to tidy up and clean.

Nightly shining the sink is a fly lady idea- totally keeps kitchen under control. The 5 daily tasks need to include doing dishes- I think it’s left out because it’s assumed people do this- but not everyone does.

I was in the Army. We had to clean a BIG bathroom. 6 toilets & 8 sinks with mirrors and 6 showers. We always cleaned with hot water and soap.😁

Have you looked into the possibility of your rash being caused by laundry products? My husband has very sensitive skin so we switched to a milder detergent and wool balls for the dryer.

    • @Spmama444

Yes and see a skin doctor…we use all non scented things, natural products and found out several issues are food, a bacterial infection that needs a cream for a month…and some gut issues…
Only test one thing at a time for two weeks…ug it’s slow but you will KNOW!!!

I used to have all those skin and health problems and switched to Melaleuca cleaning, homecare products 29 years ago and stopped having asthma, excema and all skin and hair problems. I'm still blown away daily! 😂😂

I was always a cricket, even as a toddler. I wonder why, when it's not the norm. But I've always loved categorizing, organizing, and cleaning. I can remember doing it with my toys, my school desks, everything. My sister and brother are the opposite. So is my husband🫥.

I’ve happily cut down my cleaning products to: one spray bottle of pure oxygen bleach (for grout/shower curtain, toilets, laundry, mold/mildew); one homemade spray bottle of 1/3 rubbing alcohol, 1/3 vinegar, and 1/3 water (disinfectant, hard scale, and glass); and a few Norwex cloths and a Norwex mop system. That’s it. I LOVE how simple it is. I declutterred everything else aside from one bottle of bleach for when someone has gastro 😅.

Great practical tips, thank you!! I have not had s regular cleaning routine for years. I remember one day (I was in my '30s) as I was dusting, I had a singular thought that really shut down my regular cleaning routine. As I was dusting away, I said to myself "This dust is just going to come back tomorrow. Why am I doing this?? Meanwhile my kids are growing like weeds and I'm missing it!" I absolutely hate, with a passion, spending time on things that feel 'unproductive' -in the sense that, this dust/dirt is just going to come back and I'm going to have to do the same thing all over again. I actually do feel somewhat better when the dust and grime accumulates because it feels like I'm REALLY doing something worthwhile when I clean, as opposed to just a light dusting/cleaning that does almost 'nothing'. 😂

I keep a running list of To-Do’s in my Notes app. I put every little thing on that list so I don’t forget anything, and I check the list multiple times a day because it runs my life. So, I would just immediately put “pay that bill” on my Notes list, then hide the bill in my desk until I’m ready to do it

That your cat came inside recently gives a hint that you and Emily may have gotten fleas from the cat. So would suggest you wash the cat or take it to a groomer to wash. Also wash the dog at least every 2 weeks, and a lab-doodle could be shaved down to get most of the hair removed, perhaps 2-3 times per year, plus wash their beds and all of your bedding in hot. This was a good podcast with interesting ideas, like wash multiple bathrooms at once to give the scrubbing bubbles time to work, and wash floors on multiple rooms together to not have to carry a lot of equipment rather than doing one room at a time. Hope the rash clears up soon! You both have beautiful faces, probably the key to this is staying out of the sun, as it is clear when you see others that sun can do a lot of damage.

A quick note…any cleaning product, “natural” or not, can be toxic, poisonous, or dangerous. There is not a truly “safe” chemical out there (even water). The dose makes the poison. Use what works and makes you feel good, but don’t let fear-based marketing trick you into paying more for products that are similarly or less effective and still carry risks.

By the way if you’re really allergic to poison ivy it will absolutely come out all over your body in different places for weeeeeeks. It’s systemic poison ivy. It’s in your system and keeps popping out in different places where some people mile my hubby can get it in a tiny spot and it will be gone in a week I get it everywhere and new places and even prednisone doesn’t fully do much.
