It has not run at all for me. I was so surprised! I used gloves to rinse it but I probably didn’t really need to. Thank you for watching and commenting!
This was no special, just the Kool Aid powder you mix with water as a sports drink. And 100% wool yarn. Warm water and a microwave. It’s super easy and so much fun! I’m planing on trying again with more colors and a bigger dish. Thank you for watching and commenting!
So far it is. I’ll have to test it more. I was amazed how little it ran when I rinsed it the first times I probably didn’t even need gloves. I’m going to crochet socks with this yarn and film it. Thank you for watching and commenting!
I know! But it came out more speckled. You can see I made socks with this and posted on my Instagram. JonnaMartinezCrochet. Thank you for watching and commenting.
This is a “kool” idea.😀 Seriously, I bet it smelled great. I like the smell of koolaid. I’d like to see a finished project. What other yarn could I use, as I am allergic to wool?
I’m hoping to do a sock tutorial using this yarn. I believe cotton will work well with this method but haven’t tried it yet. Thank you for watching and commenting!
I actually have a tutorial: th-cam.com/video/C20jWm6mNig/w-d-xo.html Thank you for watching and commenting! All tools are linked in the description box of this video too. ❤️
Yes! I basically only do crochet tutorials! This was just an extra fun thing while I finish up some of the bigger crochet films. Stay tuned! And Thank you for watching and commenting.
I tried it and follow the directions. It didn't turned out like the video Edit: despite that it didn't look like the video it looked ok. Than I washed it. It came out all white again and I used cotton
What an amazing idea.
That was so cool. And very simple
Thank you for watching and commenting! This was so quick and I can’t wait to try it again with other colors.
I love the results! I do not have a microwave, how can I adapt this idea with no microwave? Ty
That’s so cool and beautiful great job
Thank you! I’m very excited how it turned out. Looking forward to seeing how it crochets up. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Kool lol! 😉
Can you do this with acrylic yarn, or just wool? What about cotton?
Shenandoah it really needs to be a protein based yarn although if can be a 75-25 wool acrylic.
I’ve heard natural yarn is best for hand dyeing.
Jonna Martinez thanks!
Kool koolaid effects Jonna 👍💜
Thank you 😁🥰❤️❤️
I would love to see a swatch of this knitted up Jonna. Will you be making socks with it?
YES the plan is to make socks! Thank you for watching and commenting!
Does the color run when the yarn gets wet or washed? I'd like to try with some cotton yarn I have.
It has not run at all for me. I was so surprised! I used gloves to rinse it but I probably didn’t really need to. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I was wondering, did the yarn come out with large plain patches because it looked like it would! 🤔
I know! But it came out more speckled. You can see I made socks with this and posted on my Instagram. JonnaMartinezCrochet.

Food coloring works, too, although you need to add vinegar or citric acid!

How would you do this without a microwave
Same for me....
Will the color fade when the item is washed?
