I didn't realize HOW MUCH work goes into these videos until today when I tried dyeing yarn with Kool-Aid myself. I want it all done in 20 minutes, too, but I'm learning that each step takes its time. It's worth it, though; I'm really liking the results I've got so far! Thank you!! (Pics will be on IG soon.)
Loved this! I would love to see a rainbow speckle using Kool aid! I used Kool aid to dye rosary twine before and it was so fun! I dip dyed them using two coffee cups full of Kool aid. Thx for sharing! I would love to try speckling! 😊👍🧶
That is so cool!!!! I didn't know you can dye yarn that way!!! I'm a beginner so that is new to me, I will save this video for future reference if I decide to dye my own yarn, thank you.
You're so welcome! Just make sure you're dyeing yarn that has wool in it, if you try dyeing cotton or acrylic yarn then it won't work as well. (Although it doesn't have to have a LOT of wool content, I started dyeing 80% acrylic 20% wool!)
I am watching tons of kool-aid dying videos and l have learned a lot from yours. I have Sroll fingering and packets of kool-aid ready to go. I am very excited to get started. Thank you so much!! I would love to see more kool-aid and food color videos. Thanks so much!!
Totally love the throwback! I enjoy your channel so much and I thank you for helping me get organised and started on my own yarn dyeing adventure. ::hugs::
You can use artificial food coloring + vinegar with kids! I have a whole playlist dyeing yarn with my kids th-cam.com/video/Bjv02cEmnnQ/w-d-xo.html I also have some videos where I made my own food coloring sprinkles with sugar or citric acid powder - it isn't quite a KoolAid dupe but it can work.
I would wash it in cold water and store it out of direct sunlight. I have had great success with winter accessories that I store in the closet when I'm not wearing them. The most fading I've ever seen was when I left something on the windowsill for a while.
Oh yes! Search the channel for "breaking violet" or even just Wilton. I have a LOT of videos and this is what I used the most when I stared out dyeing and filming videos.

I'd love to see more "food save" dyeing videos. Not just yarn but also roving or top to spin.
Thank you! I would love to do some food coloring roving videos again, too.
I didn't know they had gone away! Thanks for the revisit!!
They closed for good in December

Haven't found kool-aid powder in Canada recently..... 😕 love being able to dye with kids without too many issues

Any tips to keep KoolAid dyed yarn from fading?
I would wash it in cold water and store it out of direct sunlight. I have had great success with winter accessories that I store in the closet when I'm not wearing them. The most fading I've ever seen was when I left something on the windowsill for a while.
Does anyone have recommendations for purchasing bare yarn in Australia?
Do you ever dye with Wilton's or other gel dyes?
