  • In todays video I went through some of the maintenance I have done on my newly acquired 2014 Honda CR-Z as well as going through some of the common problems these cars have. So you want a honda crz?! Don't get me wrong the Honda CR-Z although it being a hybrid, is very reliable and fun, but just like any car they have problems of there own to watch out for.

    My 10 year old CRZ has never had these problems, or any other problems. You purchased a car with a lot of car damage. Good that the car is in your hands. You will treat the Honda with some justice.

    Not specific to the crz tho... You just bought a car that didn't get maintenance... Would personally never buy an unmaintained car, eoesn't matter if the exterior looks good or it was an old lady driving it. Also about the transmission fluid: you can get same spec fluid from premium brands with the same viscosity etc...

      NEVER use other than HONDA trans fluid in a Honda. You'll learn!

    @jhowe67 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Don't recommend overdoing transmission services. Trans fluid, even CVT fluid, acts as a detergent and can actually erode protective films off parts if done too often. one or two services is the most you should do before going back to the 36k mile service interval.

    Hmm 🤔 new civics and accords have cvt transmission, wym they might go out of production

      So I misspoke. What i meant to say was the genuine oem honda cvt fluid for the specific crz cvt trans might not be sold anymore as they dont make the crz cvt anymore. Not saying u can't find cvt fluid for the cvt I just prefer to stick to honda

    What kind of mpg are you getting? I’m buying a 2012.

      Haven't thoroughly tracked it but I'd say about 36-38. I drive a lot of freeway miles going 70mph+. This car gets good gas mileage going 56mph and less ive come to notice.

      The Honda dealer told me there are no serviceable parts for the cvt so a new cvt is 7500.00 and my daughter's went out at 127k miles.
      After looking a bit I'm seeing a new cvt belt for $220 bucks.
      Would you ask your brother if that makes it serviceable at this point?

    • @illusiversx
      @illusiversx  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm very unfamiliar with automatics in general but the cvt especially. I know in general automatic transmission problems are a lot more expensive than manual transmissions. When you say they said it's "not serviceable" did they just mean they don't work on them anymore or that they can't get parts for them anymore?

    • @johngatsby1473
      @johngatsby1473 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@illusiversx they implied there was no way to rebuild them so new...7500. I just found it hard to believe so I have found people that have TH-cam videos of them changing the belt out but I want to know what an actual Honda tech has to say before I make the move. I'm not scared of it for sure but I don't want to waste my time doing a belt change if it's not worth it. I don't think anything else is wrong with it cuz it just stopped one day when she put it in gear.

      @illusiversx  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @johngatsby1473 that is odd. If anything I'd ask a mechanic in the area and see what they think. I can ask my brother but odds are if the honda mechanic Said it's not serviceable chances are my brother won't know as these are pretty uncommon Transmissions.

    This is a warning about buying from reputable sellers and getting history on the vehicle. Why you gotta throw all CR-Zs under the bus man

    • @illusiversx
      @illusiversx  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not throwing any cr-z's under the bus man. Just simply explaining what I all had to fix on mine when I bought it used which is to be expected when you get it for really cheap. I understand buying from reputable sellers is important but I got a really good deal on this car I couldn't pass up.

      @nickadams4045 exactly and I won't say It's hondas fault or the crzs fault for all the problems discussed in the video. A huge part of why things on cars fail is the owners fault whether its taking care of the proper maintenance or just making sure the car is in good condition. I'm glad your enjoying your crz and i hope you treats you well🤟

    The previous owner seemed to be totaly clueless and dumb. That car would be otherwise in a very good condition, as it is a very reliable Honda.

      Absolutely, I agree. That's why I'm trying to keep it running right again. I don't understand the whole ball joint situation. They must have taken it to a shady mechanic who did it for cheap just to say they did it but idk the world is a sketchy place
