So sad that this clinical rotation is over!! I've enjoyed watching so much. I love how excited and happy you were throughout this rotation and it makes me so excited to work with Drs like you in the future! I'm currently on my L&D clinical rotation in nursing school and currently interviewing for L&D RN positions. I can definitely relate to never wanting to leave at the end of the day, even after spending 12 hrs on the floor! Such an honor to be there with moms during deliveries. You're going to be a great OB/GYN!

I am 41 this year and at 35 I had a total abdominal hysterectomy (cervix and uterus).. apparently all text book but within days we notice my bladder had forgotten hot to empty (at its fullest I had 1.4lts or urine with zero feeling to me. I have been told I have an under active bladder now and the only feeling I get is I need to pee and I need to pee NOW! And a lot of leakage. It sucks but worth it. I have endo but also I found out I also had adenomyosis as well plus a fibroid. I had my right ovary out in 2002 which had run away and planted itself into my right hip and rolled itself around a nerve so I would get right leg spasms and sharp pains down it. Thankfully when the ovary came out the pain went away. I still have my left and just last week found out I am per i menopausal.. so 6 years later.

I’m super late to watch this vid but I highly recommend using a thin layer of aquaphor before putting a bandage on to keep the moisture barrier intact! It also prevents adhesion from the bandage when you take it off. And a fun trick I learned in my wound treatment class is if your bandage is stuck to the wound is to moisten it, and if that’s not working to try and use peroxide to help breakdown the dried ooziness that the bandage is stuck to (:

Rachel you should ask for some hydrocolloid pads you can cut them and put them on your burn areas (unfortunately I did the same thing except with a curling iron). These helped reduce the scarring significantly! I wore them at night covered with a tegaderm. They do take the layers off the burn but it didn’t hurt and they do heal a lot better (got rid of my infection too)! (: I think Walgreens/cvs has them too.

    • @RachelSouthard

You can use hydrocolloid bandages to cover your burn/blister wounds.
It'll create a protective seal over your skin, and allow you to get your arms/hands wet. Yes this is the same stuff as the pimple patches but larger sized. Clean your wound and change your bandages at least twice or more a day. Hope you wound heals soon!
