      A Space Marine who wears the Laurel is, to his peers, a proven warrior of his Chapter. The word of a Battle-Brother who wears the Imperial Laurel will carry more weight that it would otherwise, sometimes influencing the nature of his missions or gaining the use of rare assets, weapons or allies and the right to carry the Company Standard into battle.

      more like another form of punishment considering Calgar most likely could not punish him properly due to the Inquisition involvement so they do not look like they support a Heretic. Instead he is now a Chaplain and forced to remember everything about the Codex. Constantly reminded of what he did by breaking the Codex's rules and constantly being watched by everyone that knows what he did even by other Chaplains. Not to mention constantly remind by everything (the codex, the Ultramarines that know what he did, Calgar himself, and even other Chaplains) that if he ever pulls something like that again, there will be no escape from a severe punishment. Thus making his situation no different from Titus where every action he makes is being judged.

      @@orrthehunter they don't punish you by making you into a chaplain. it is one of the highest honors in a chapter to become one, as you must serve as the spiritual guide of your brothers. Leandros was already a member of Titus' command squad, so he was obviously very capable, even among his fellow space marines. it's not a big leap to assume he earned his place among the chaplaincy by merit alone.

    The Laurels of Victory. Only the valor crest is deemed a higher personal honour. The Laurels are the commendation a Astartes can recieve after a long and honourable service and has proven time amd again that he is exemplary in the realm of warfare, and his bravery in the face of harrowing odds is beyond question, and, for a son of Guilliman, expertise in statecraft is also a requirement. The Laurels are near sure signal that one day the Astartes will advance to higher command, or perhaps even a Tetrarchy. It also signifies, especially to Guillimans sons that the Astartes to bear it is exemplar in both the theoretical and practical realms of battle, bearers of this honour will find many a young marine asking for advice and direction, and its known for Chapter Masters and Captains to keep laurelbearers in their command squads so they can allways offer insight. In some Chapters this honour is so revered and rare, including the Ultramarines that squads seconded to the command of a laurelbearer will mark the occasion on their armour. The chapter armoury will also open to bearers of this esteemed honour. The Master of the Forge will happily offer ancient and revered suits of power armour to wear. Millenia old Phobos pattern Bolters or even named and cherished chapter relics such as named power weaponry will be made available to signify that the Astartes is trusted with some of the most powerful and venerated wargear the chapter can provide. Only the Chapter Master, honour guard, Tetrarchs and Captains have a greater acces to the chapters most storied armaments and armour. Nevertheless, the bearer of the laurels will go to war arrayed like the heroes of old, all the more to signify his presence on the battlefield for his brothers to rally to.

      @@Cyb3rKats sorry, I didnt see your previous comment. It would be lore breaking for a number of very important implications:
      1. The Emperor has not talked to anyone ever since he was put in the Golden Throne. Theoretically, he "speaks" only to Custodians via dreams, and those are quite shady at best, plus theres no actual confirmation that its the emperor, its only suggested.
      2. Titus is a relatively new and lesser character in the setting, much like Malum Caedo. Having the Emperor talk only to him, for unexplained reasons, only because "it would be cool lol" would make no sense at all. It would be like the president of your country actually going to your house personally and telling you that the whole world solely depends on you and your job at Mcdonalds flipping burger.
      3. The Emperor's mind is so broken and fragmented by now, as seen when he actually talked to Guilliman, that any sort of communication would be near impossible.
      4. Much like Malum Caedo, Titus so far has done feats that would put him on par with Grey Knights and even Primarchs. Surviving raw warp energy, TWICE (space marines I & II), defeating a sorcerer of Tzeench with literally no effort whatsoever (Secret Level Episode), making tyranids somehow show fear and caution simply by his presence (space marine II trailer). Things that directly contradict the lore.
      So, while Titus is one fucking badass and i love what they are doing with him, gotta be careful with what is cannon and what is not cannon and what is just there to look cool.
      (small detail: when Titus came into the picture, it was Cato Sicarius who was captain of the second company of the Ultramarines, but it was retconned just so Space Marines I made sense, for example)

    However due to his act towards against captain, his promotion was direct into Chaplain.

    People say that Leandros got off lightly. But it’s worth considering how little he has progressed in the chapter since he accused Titus. Titus was barred from rising further in the chapter due to the fact that he had been turned into a black shield. What is Leandros’ excuse? The guy was a promising young fighter who had managed to get a place in the 2nd captain’s own command squad. And after that there’s nothing. No rise to a sergeants position, no captaincy, the guy was taken in by the only few amongst the ultramarines who might accept his overzealous interpretation of the codex, and he has remained a chaplain for probably most of that full century. That’s a dead end career if I’ve ever seen it amongst space marines. The officers will never accept him with official authority, the chapter command distrusts him since he has snitched on a captain before, so he has been given the official position of yapper so he can ramble on about the codex in a positive manner while not being in a position to do irreparable harm again without chapter command or the other chaplains stepping in.

    • @AndrCPC
      @AndrCPC 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think that regarding Leandros, one thing should be remembered. After Titius, Cato Sicarius became Captain of Second company. And Sicarus (at least in the early of his stories) was smug, recless, arrogant, Codex-Worshipping Glory Hound- now he is better. So I can easily see Leandros rising under such a man only to hit a block when Cato was dismissed. This justify to me how he could rise to Chaplain and not suffer retribution from brothers.

    • @OutspokenSeeker
      @OutspokenSeeker 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AndrCPC that’s not it at all. Because if Leandros had been valued by Cato and remained within his inner circle then Leandros would have been trapped in the warp aboard the firstborn company’s ship when they were trapped in the warp and nearly died out. Leandros wasn’t present, nor has there been any account of Cato including Leandros in anything. So I still think that Leandros didn’t acquire the chaplaincy through that method, it was the only position he could take.

      Oliver Hollis-Leick the head developer of the game said on twitter "That is open to individual interpretation. It could be in Titus's mind, could be Calgar, or it could be the Emperor (though GW might disagree on that). I know who I meant it to be when I wrote it but I'll keep that to myself ;)"
      It's 100% the Emperor.

    I wonder if mission is the one we see in the Secret Level series. A suicide mission of which Leandros had suggested Titus would be best suited for.

    I was a bit ticked off that they didn’t use the right chant or warcry which is “We march for Macragge” !
    Maybe it’s just me…
