- In this video The Spa Guy proves that the photo of Elvis and Kathy Selph on a motorcycle at an intersection in 1972 in Memphis is really Elvis and talks about who Kathy Selph was.. In order for you not to believe this is Elvis you have to believe that some random guy who happened to look like Elvis, got on an Expensive Harley Davidson motorcycle that looks identical to one Elvis owned at the time in 1972 and rode with no helmet, no tags, with a young girl on the back in a cape and Elvis sunglasses in Memphis a few miles from Graceland and it wasn't Elvis.. Billy... wonder who the young man is in the car? Looks like he is with his Dad. Probably lived within 5 miles from that intersection dont ya think? Its hard to see if his face was visible in the paper version but he and his father's fearures are clearly scene in the glossy photograph. Just saying, wouldnt it be cool to find him and hear his memories of that moment in time?
Last, can you interview the photographer? Is he still around?
Kathy was 20 years younger than Elvis and never imagined that she had only days to live from when this picture was taken. Enjoy every minute of your life while you can.

Kathy was 17 years younger than Elvis... he was 37 in June, 1972. And, she died 18 days after the photo was taken... June 30th to Jult 18th her date of death.

I had a friend from Ireland come over and I took her to Graceland and Sun Records and all the sites in Memphis. She loved it.

The first photo did not look much like Elvis, but you can most definitely tell by the other photos that The King had his motor running, he got out on the highway, and was looking for adventure...🏍

I see there are lots of comments posted here already, but, one more from a Canadian may prove interesting. I say first of all - friends, don't invest any worry or mind the people who we call "haters." Since the WWW was first made available and graphics were developed [re: move a mouse pointer and click it??], this online environment spawned haters. Returning to this great presentation by our friend, "Spa Guy", this video is one of the finest presentations I have seen in all my years, and I am 55 years old. I do recall the picture of young Mary and Elvis riding on his Harley Davidson was featured in the Elvis magazines I purchased in the days when I was a teenager of the late 70s, but, as Spa Guy explains, no one knew who she was. Thank you, Spa Guy for solving another Elvis mystery story. My question based on what I have learned from the video, why did Elvis shout out to the photographer about having his picture taken?? I always assumed Elvis didn't mind people taking his picture?? Maybe there is another story behind the story here. Thank you , Spa Guy for investing the time and commitment to gathering all the details of Mary/s brief life with Elvis. I don't wish to end my note with a sad or maudlin point, but, the nature of the type of auto accident Mary experienced is not uncommon. Unfortunately, when a car hits one of those bridge abutments it often proves fatal. Simple physics. Search on TH-cam for a layman's explanation of Sir Isaac Newton's First Law. Spa Guy's video presented the concrete wall erected around the abutment later?? This move is to afford some degree of flexibility to the unfortunate driver should they collide with these concrete pillars. Rest in peace Mary Kathleen Selph and Elvis Aaron Presley. I know I love Elvis just as much as everyone else and it was a sad day when he passed away . But.... it's important to remember she was someone special also , especially to her family and friends and even Elvis . I'm glad you were able to find out all of this information about Kathy . Very nice tribute to Ms. Selph. It's always so sad to see someone pass at such a young age. I believe Ms. Selph would have been honored to know that someone took the time to remember her (other than obvious family members) in the respectful manner in which you have portrayed her.
Thank you Billy for sharing this video with me. I saw this photo on pintrest and I knew it was Elvis right away. I didn't know the woman with him until early today when I first watched this video and have looked at several times and just wanted to thank you for finding all the great videos about Elvis. It was very thoughtful of you to look up the info. on Kathleen. This way very sad news, most of been terribly difficult for Elvis. Elvis really went through some rough times, constantly loosing the people he cared about and loved ones like his mom, a devastating time. So very sad for this young lady ; only 20 ; she had not had time to even really begin living an adult life. Well at least they are together in heaven and probably singing with the angels in God's heavenly choir. Please keep your new stories coming. 😇😇

Never heard of Kathy. I came here after watching an interview with Mickey Rooney's son's. They mentioned Kathy in their interview. They said , not many people know Kathy and Elvis had a love affair for 7 years.

I just love all your Elvis story.. I was 8 months old when he passed away but my parents took my sister and I in March of 77 to Graceland. I just love Elvis.... I took my mom back to Graceland this passed October it was great... Thank u again
I was born in 1976 and as a kid in the 80s, it seemed to me that Elvis was more of a character that people portrayed in TV, movies and Vagas weddings . Now I'm almost 44 and last year I really started to listen and get into Elvis. I'm just blown away at how amazingly talented singer he was & his loving generosity to family and friends. I've always been fascinated by the Kathy/Elvis story. Definitely a hidden gem in Elvis lore. Hard to believe there are "fans" out there who don't believe that's Elvis in the pics, but you'll always run into those folks. Oh, well. THANKS for doing the outstanding legwork on this video!! Drugs, changes people's looks, depending on what they are doing at the time!! (He was doing a little bit of everything at some point in his life) His buddy's said the military turned him into a addict, he was a different person when he returned home!! You can tell he was trying to get sober in his later yrs, because of the weight gain, but he traded one habit for another, he wasn't healthy!!
People don't know what Elvis actually looked like!! He was born with blonde hair, and blue eyes, he died his hair black, an wore makeup to make his eyes stand out!! The drugs took a toll on his body through the years!! (When he was skinny he was one younger, two speeding his balls off, and then when he started becoming distant, an depressed he got into the downers, an gained weight!! You also gain a lot of weight when you get sober from the downers) People don't understand how the body works!! 🤷🥴

First when you left guitar strings in the Lauderdale apartment for others to enjoy, then your desire to help the Vernon house be restored, and now with Ms. Mary Kathy Selphs. I remember seeing your first video on the picture of Elvis with Kathy (now on first name with her thanks to you). In that video the picture kind of pulled me in. I thought "Who is that girl?" "Why was she with Elvis?" I wanted more, and you obviously thought the same thing. You are sentimental and a kind person. I'm certain all your followers love that about you. You are also a no-nonsense and sincere guy. Hope to meet you and your wife in person one day. I'm also intrigued at your investigative skills. Also now I like how you are editing your presentations and the sequence. All the topics so very interesting and captivating. I am not in anyway criticizing you. You do Great Videos that I and many are so appreciative of. In 1972 Elvis still had the chiseled face a year before the Aloha from Hawaii Concert. This is not Elvis in 1972.
That picture was taken on June 30th 1972.. It was him that day...
Elvis lost around 40 pounds prior to the Hawaii concert

I have a copy of the picture in question and have always believed that it was Elvis, but I never knew who the girl was. She sure was a lucky girl to be dating Elvis. Thanks for introducing her to us. Would be awesome to see their take on the the picture and if they would have actually remembered that incident. Though it would most likely be next to impossible I'm thinking. Excellent video Spa Guy. Elvis motorcycle was a white 1971 HD FLH Electra Glide. There is a pic of Elvis on it in Scotty Moore's website 4 days after that pic with Mary (Kathy) was taken. I don't know if it was it's serial number, but there is a number on the windscreen that you can see in the picture. Also there is another photo that they believe maybe Ms. Selph on it with Elvis.

I had seen that photo many times before, and I always wondered who the young lady was, just very sad that she died just weeks later. Thank you Spa Guy for another super fantastic Elvis video! you work hard at it and it shows in the results! Friend until next time.
I don't know if this is fact, but I read this in Donna Lewis' 3rd book, "Hurry Home Elvis." Donna mentions Kathleen several times in the June and July entries. She says that Kathleen was a go-go dancer at TJ's. She mentions Kathleen and Elvis riding Sun in the pasture, and mentions them at the airport. She also says that Elvis bought two Mark IV's and that he gifted one of them to Kathleen and kept the other one. She said that after Elvis gave Kathleen the car, she hadn't been seen at Graceland and it was probably a parting gift to her. She's not mentioned again for almost a month. But then Donna says her friend Dorise called her and told her that Kathleen had been killed in a car wreck that morning- July 19th. Donna says that it seems that Kathleen had been at TGI Fridays and that she was quite angry with Elvis for dumping her. She said that he thought he could get rid of her by giving her the car, but he was terribly mistaken. Donna said that a reporter was at the gate trying to get the scoop on Elvis and Kathleen. Like I said, I don't know this to be fact, but I got this from Donna's book. If it's true, it's really quite sad. She probably thought he cared more for her. I can only imagine being in her shoes, especially at such a young age. I just wonder if Kathleen was driving the car Elvis gave her.

Such a sad story and I feel so for Mary Kathleen. To have passed so young. It seems strange that she got a phone call and left her supper to go where ever and was killed. Seems there is more to the story, but I guess we will never know what really happened to her. I did love learning about her and seeing these photo's though! I hadn't seen these before I don't think. No, the one photo isn't the greatest photo of Elvis, it doesn't look like it at first, but I think it is because they were in movement come to the light and it was just the shot captured. I know I've captured photo's and they didn't look like the person. The second photo definitely looks like Elvis. So I have no doubt it was Elvis and Mary Kathleen. Thank you Bill for honoring this young woman who captured Elvis' heart. She deserves this recognition, may she rest in peace. To bad her brother wasn't very nice or forthcoming. I also thank you Billy, for another piece of the Elvis puzzle. All of the Elvis info needs to be put into a huge book, but the book would be to large for anyone to handle probably!

You alway's give respect to the people you are telling us about. It's sad Kathy passed away so young. It sound's like she may have been upset when she had the wreck. That could've been what caused her to wreck, bless her heart. If Vernon attended her funeral she must've made an impression on the Presley family. Elvis was apparently very upset when he heard the new's about Kathy loosing her life. Such a tragedy to go so young, praying Elvis and Kathy are in a better place together now.

Hey spa guy. How about a video on the famous pink Cadillac. ? You could video all the way around it. You could. Show the motor and the trunk. Then open the car door and show the dashboard. Show the inside of the car. And think of the conversations that went on in that car. Or show the radio and think of the early music that filled that car in the 50s. You get to open the drivers door just like Elvis and sit where he did. Can you imagine driving that car during the day ? People would be taking pics like crazy. Or find out Scotty and Bill was in that car. Just a thought spa guy. Keep up the great work.

You have Great Videos which I watch all your videos with a 👍up, I am a big elvis fan since I was about 7 years old in 1965. Then seeing him live Valentines day Feb 14th 1977 at the Bayfront center in St. Petersburg Florida was a FANTASTIC experience. My date got a scarf and many close up pics which showed his decline by 1977 but he still gave a GREAT PERFORMANCE. He actually handed down his guitar to someone in the crowd that day, Definitely one lucky fan. Anyways, keep up the Great research on elvis, I appreciate it, but in 1972 there is no way elvis looked like that.
OK so explain who this could possibly be and also who it was in the newspaper article that day? Also explain how this young lady who I have shown you the grave of was with someone who was not Elvis that day.. Let's just start with the simple stuff. I research this stuff man I don't just make videos.. I have spoken with the girl on the backs family.. It is Elvis.. He had weight swings since the early 60's that is common knowledge.. I have weight swings when I am tired my face is really fat looking and bloated..

What loving words Elvis had for her before they told him the tragic news. Obviously, she was a very special person for him to be feeling such genuine love. I guess it will always remain a mystery why she suddenly left to run home, saying she'd return. Still, you have told us so much that would have remained unknown. Billy I have always know that was elvis on that motorcycle. My question to you is why does Elvis’s face look so weird in that picture ? It looks really puffed up and swollen. Was it the prescription drugs? Maybe a bad angle perhaps. Good video ! Too bad the siblings wouldn’t contribute.

@@craigcook1571 of course it doesn't, you've seen him in the night light performing and here he is after after riding on a cycle at speeds of 60-70 mph, it's going to make your skin puffy. He always had that but the rest of him is solid built. There were no impersonators then like the 80's. My sister got his son's scarf at a concert some 15 yrs ago. I was in Hawaii in 64-65 an 69-70, but in the picture 7/72 in Athens, Ga before moving to Calif. When Elvis was in Hawaii for his movies in the early to mid 60's he created a son as it is said. That was when the
Beatles took over the news performing. It was in Aug 69 that I sat 10 feet from Elvis watching him perform at the International Hotel while I ate from the menu a $15 New York Strip Steak. My sister across from me as we attended many a concert when she was along. My Dad and brother along were most impressed with his performance only having a microphone, bar stool and guitar and wearing comfortably bell bottoms and pull over ring zippered shirt while he was solo.

Elvis’ cousin (that worked for him) said also that he had a few cosmetic face procedures done in 1972…. I’m willing to bet that maybe that could also be the puffiness… aside from the poor diet and drugs…. That’s also the year that he and Priscilla separated and he was pretty heartbroken over that….stress does horrible things to the body… on top of his lifestyle…

Billy, the only thing I can see or whatch in this video is that you're mastering your own skills as a Elvis Presley historian.
This video is totally amazing how you put everything together.
Now the main picture is available in color. Can't remember the studio name that colorized the picture but I think it will be good to added into another video. (because I don't think this is a final video of Kathy)
I'm hoping Kathy's family open their mind and show her belongings so everything can be documented.
