Discovered you years ago on BleepinJeep. The Torq locker install and disc brake conversion on yellow XJ are two of my all-time favorite Jeep how-to videos. I really enjoy your new vids on this channel and wish you the best getting to 10K and beyond!
Same here. My first Jeep was an ‘00 XJ so I always like watching your work and your wheeling trips with the Spool Bus. I first started to learn how to do vehicle maintenance on that XJ. I have a Torq locker and a Spartan helical LSD that are waiting to go into my current build (‘08 KK) and your videos are my go-to.
Thanks you, happy to have you along! I was just wheeling in NC and TN with Nate and the TORQ locker was functioning flawlessly. I rode with him down i40 to do Hurricane Creek. The JT handles perfectly on road, and has no lack of traction in the tough stuff. Definitely recommend it
I ran a aussie locker in my ramcharger years ago. When i first installed it, i didn't have lockout hubs. It sometimes sucked when it locked up during a turn. I fixed it with lockouts.
Locking hubs was a good call. There are a number of factors though that can play into abnormal behavior like that. Most common are bad U joints or a hanging brake. These gladiators have an axle disconnect though so the locker will never bind in 2WD. The only thing that changes by doing this as far as 2WD is concerned, is that the driveshaft front will spin now whenever the truck is rolling.
Great video! I have a 21 gladiator Willys. Looking to do a regear and maybe lockers. I am located in Colorado and trying to figure out what is the ballpark I can expect to pay at a shop to get this done. Thanks
It is technically an “unlocker” in that it is locked at rest, and input from the pinion (stepping on the throttle) will cause the cross shaft to press the inner halves of the locker into the side gears and sending full torque to both axle shafts. When the cross shaft is in a neutral position (vehicle coasting) feedback from the wheels such as one needing to spin faster than the other will allow the locker to press against the springs and “ratchet”.

@laurenhoward8397 that’s awesome 😎
I used torq masters for my front axle and glad I did. Been an absolute joy of a product. Never had a problem in 7 years and still going.
Awesome job on the video Jon. Love the slow motion shots through the mud off-road.
Thanks Bill!
Another good vid like always. Like the style you do these with. 👍🏻
Thanks so much for the encouraging words
Jon, nice job mentoring. 😊 The kid is always going to remember that time he helped you put his first locker in a Jeep.
Thanks! I’m sure he will. And that’s pretty cool 😎
Great job on the locker install and the video. I really loved seeing how interested and involved that young man was in the process as well.
Thank you Erik!
Great stuff!!! Lost my subscription for a minute but found you again keep them coming
Welcome back! Was wondering where you went 🙃
Hey I just hit that red button; how is Nate liking the TORQ Locker. I am looking to do the same install on my Gladiator Sport.

@@DirtRoadTherapy thank you.
I'd love to see a long term or performance review. Seriously considering one of these in the front of my Gladiator
The owner lives in Tennessee, and I’m in Pennsylvania but we have a trip planned this fall and can try to do that!

Glad you found it helpful! Hope your install goes well man

Maybe someone from Colorado can chime in but in PA at the shop I work at it’s about $2500-2800 parts and labor
@@DirtRoadTherapy thanks for the reply.
Well done
Thank you!
Does the locker stay engaged all the time in the rear
